From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and friendly with a really nice atmosphere. The kroketten were the perfect starter (one of each, crayfish, cheese and ham hock and cheese) along side the stoofrites with 3 beer beef carbonade. Chips in gravy on a whole other level! It took a lot of self-contol to not pick up the bowl and drink the gravy once the chips were gone! The bloody mary moules et frites were simply outstanding, perfectly cooked mussels in tomato sauce with vodka, celery, tabasco and sun-dried tomatoes. The croque monsieur was the best my friend had ever eaten and she cleared the plate despite the very generous portion. I was a bit ambitous ordering the waffel dessert but glad I did just to see it in all its glory. Add in a fantastic selection of beers , and you’ve got the perfect spot for a meal. Can’t fault a single thing. Can’t wait to go back. Top tip, make sure you book!

Managed to find some on street parking not far from the resturant which was a bonus. We went into the place at opening and it was peacefully quiet. We stepped in through the front door and the hustle and bustle of the street disappeared. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our table. There is an extensive normal menu and also a special one - shown in photos. We had to take a good while to choose something to drink - there is SO much choice beer wise! I couldn’t drink (driver) so when I spotted the non-alcoholic beers I was very happy! Food wise we ordered the bitterballen and Krocketten (one of each type) to start. They were a decent portion and flavours really good, they were all different. We shared all 3 between 3 adults. For mains we all ordered something different. The mussels, the waffle burger and the croque - Philly Funghi. The service was a tad longer than expected - we were one of a few tables in at that point however when it arrived it was clear it was worth the wait! The presentation was really good, food was hot and they all arrived at the same time. The only downside on mine (the Croque) was it was very spicy. The pepper sauce was very strong. I tried to tame it with some mayo but it didn’t do a lot so I left a fair bit of it after eating what I could. When we go back I know not to have this now which is a shame. All the ingredients are things I like but it was too spicy for me. The waffle burger was tasty, the waffle fluffy and complements the burger well. The mussels were hot, the sauce was good, strong in flavour and not watery which is easily done. Parmesan fries were really nice! A welcome change from normal chips. Very pleased I upgraded to those with my croque. It is worth noting they don’t do a kids menu here. We had a main meal for an adult and the child to share (was ample portion size) and we ordered the Stoemp for them to eat. Can’t go wrong with mash, cheese and veg lol. The Gouda bites were nice too! We loved the little touches in the place, the decor and the shop that they have. We bought some of the pretzel chocolate and it was gooood! We will be returning :)

When there's only ten tables and two people serving, reading reviews prior about how good the service was, and from friends and family that had visited, this experience did not live up to expectations.

I attended with my daughter after looking for somewhere local serving quality food, the menu is small but simple and versatile, options for meat eaters, vegan, vegetarian and everyone alike. Everything is freshly made onsite and prepared with love, the staff were friendly but not imposing, very helpful with explaining the menu which has extensive add-ons without being extreme, they just allow you to build your meal your way, My daughter had the minted lamb pie with mash and peas and gravy, she enjoyed it but noted that having minted pushy peas and mint an lamb pie was too minty, something she can correct next time and no reflection on the quality or niceness of the food, i had the Jackfruit pie with mustard mash, minty mushy peas and gravy with crispy onion and cheesy topping, wow, a real journey in the mouth, a journey, each mouthful was an explosion of flavour, the portion size is very generous, turn up hungry if you order and be prepared for musical journey in your mouth, the atmosphere adds to the experience, being surrounded by the nostalgia of talented musicians in the form of sound, really nice music playing in background and visually, your surrounded by iconic figures in photos, records (Vinyl) and musical ambiance, the tables and chairs are quirky interesting and full of historic life. Oh and tea in a Pot, with China cups, you cant go wrong, attention to detail is well thought out and enticing, screaming out care, love and thoughtfulness. The feel of the pub is lovely, it’s very classy while also being homely, we liked the decor a lot! I feel it has great potential, and am aware myself and my partner visited at a busy time, however the service and parts of the food could do with some work. Upon arrival we walked up to to little check in desk through the door and were unfortunately not greeted by the lady manning it, we said the booking name and were taken to sit down, we weren’t asked if we had been before or even smiled at, just told to order at the bar and what our table number was. At the carvery station the lad manning it was very nice, making polite conversation, which made up feel a little more welcome. As a whole food was nice, however the Yorkshire puddings were over done and the gravy was very watery, more like a broth but it did taste very nice and like it had been home made. The turkey was lovely, not at all dry, potatoes were gorgeous as were the carrots and mac and cheese! Some more green veg would be lovely, but It was very good value for money. When we’d finished eating, and left the pub a couple of staff members saw us go but didn’t say goodbye, this is ok but I feel a bit more attentiveness would be appreciated, I understand it’s busy & staff are stressed, but this is also a customer experience, and I feel sometimes if you have welcoming and attentive service it makes up for a lot. Each meal I've had here has been delicious, I love the fact you can choose your steak size all the way up to 30oz! The Ribeye has always been my favourite to eat here but have tried the fillet, sirloin and beef short rib. They have a good selection of wines, beers and soft drinks. The restaurant is huge, very spacious. We've always managed to get a table when walking in but I'd suggest booking ahead at weekends. Staff have always been very helpful, friendly and funny! The flaming chorizo at the table was a nice touch. However, for me, there were a lot of large chunks of fat within the sausage that could have benefitted from more cooking time in the kitchen, prior to bringing out to table. Also, the gyota should have been pan fried as described, and not deep fried, but this didn't detract too much from the dish, overall. We loved the soft shell crab bun and would highly recommend this. The Thai style mussels were plump and juicy and the rich sauce definitely had those subtle Thai flavours, such as lemongrass, garlic, red chillies, and coconut sauce. The 10oz ribeye steak (medium rare) was cooked to perfection, and the peppercorn sauce was tasty and nicely reduced. Also, the prawns that accompanied the steak were beautifully cooked and full of flavour. I would definitely recommend this restaurant as a great place to eat. We had a nice booth that added a cosy feeling to the overall experience.

We were shown to the absolute prime position in the little decking overlooking Portsmouth Harbour mouth. You cannot beat that view at any time of year. We're visiting Portsmouth and just got off the train. After arriving, the nice waitress got us seated. The place is really warm and cosy, but fairly busy. We were told we had to find our own table, which is fine (I know some places do that). But as the evening went on the waiters were escorting other guests to their tables. The service was appalling! This needs to be addressed so that people do not end up with cold “main courses”. Beer choice was good and a nice selection of English beers and ales. Before entering the food store the food aroma was incredibly strong and smelt delicious. I enter the store which was designed like a small café selling bakery items paired with hand made hot drinks. The first impressions were good, we had a reservation and we were seated quickly. The standard cocktails were pretty decent, a bit inconsistent but good enough during happy hour. The 'sea foam' forms at the top of the Conch. 5th, fith photo is "Lavender Rain". On our arrival this was the drink we seen at most tables so we had to try. With the speed it come out i would guess that all the dishes are prepared and 'ready to go' and are constantly being made and topped up which is why the Ragu came out piping hot and everything tepid or cold! On a short 3 day break to Portsmouth I booked here after reading reviews online. Loved it so much we went twice. Food outstanding. Had prawn tacos, patatas bravas, steak, pork belly, to name a few. Fantastic Takeaway! This was an Uber Eats emergency, needing some food before catching the ferry to IOW. Just ordered a couple of curries and 3 different nans late last night at 11pm but really impressed with the quality. The lamb madras was really well spiced, the ginger and scotch bonnet chillies really brought out the fruityness in the dish. The chicken was not overcooked in the chicken tikka masala which I often find in Indian restaurants they can easily overcook it and it goes dry. Overall very tasty, good value for money and left me wanting to check the other dishes on the menu. The nan breads were also good but I think at nearly £5 each they are overpriced for what they are. This place has been on my radar for a while so I was looking forward to trying their Indian food. We had a small plate of Sev Puri which was recommended to us by the staff, I've never had anything like this before in an Indian restaurant, we were told to eat them whole (I struggled a bit with this as they were quite large!) I'm not 100% sure what the filling was but they tasted incredible, you can't visit Desi Cafe without trying these! The Konkani Chicken had a subtle heat to it and the Karachi Karahi had quite a kick. The meat in the Karahi was lamb which just melted in your mouth. The sauce with both curries was rich & thick, perfect for mopping up with the Bombay Bread. The rice was absolutely packed full of flavour and the Gunpowder Potatoes were cooked perfectly. The Goan chicken was spiced just right as was the aloo bhuna - which were fluffy potatoes that weren't "drowned" in a sauce. Space for 6 food vendors but it only had 3 vendors in it. The 3 others were closed down. We ordered drinks, a coke, brewdog and a peroni. It cost £11 so the prices were good. There's nothing similar in the area, and we love all the different options in terms of food and drinks. There's food from italian cuisine, to Venezuelan, Greek, and delicious seafood, all available in a wide menu to choose from. GALBIS KOREAN BBQ is my new fave place it’s on Albert road we found it due to some great reviews and I’m soooo happy we did , it’s so healthy they bring out kimchi etc we did the 27£ per person all you can eat and got dumplings spring rolls prawns pork beef more beef squid chicken and lamb! THE TASTE AND FLAVOUR OF EVERYTHING was unreal so tender aswell some of the best food I’ve had , defo recommend this place clean good service and lovely food

We started with the Army Stew, which was a huge portion—perfect for two people. You can even choose your meat to customize it to your liking! 🍲🥩 We also went for the Korean Fried Chicken, which was crispy and flavorful, paired with fresh pajeori (green onion salad) that added a great crunch. 🥗 And don't forget the Chicken Bibimbap—a perfect balance of flavors and textures. 🍛 To top it off, they threw in a free bowl of rice. The food is really good and having the option to cook it yourself on the grill is a good niche not found in other local restaurants. They also have a range of Korean alcohols available. It’s a little pricey if you want a full meal, however their set menu option is a good choice on this front. I would recommend booking in advance as they get very busy due to their small size.

Personal preference and go-to for ourselves is often the set barbecue and chicken noodle stir fry. We don't have barbecue often but it is one of our indulges within the month amongst other places in Hampshire. Atmosphere is so fun. Try it out one day, grill your own meat, have the side dishes.
