🚗 We got our own paints from Walmart at $2.60 each. If you get from the Merch store here it will be $7.50 so plan accordingly.

I took my kids for the first time, they enjoyed it. So much horse History as well as rider history. There was places to learn and watch like a little person theater and even a bigger theater to watch . The paintings in the bigger theater or probably my favorite they look so realistic. My kids absolutely love the long hallway and the photo opts in the back room. My mom even suggested maybe for them to sale a cowboy cook book in the store. There's even a camp fire for a read around spot for the littles.

We weren’t sure what to expect going in, but it quickly became one of our favorite museum stops of the trip. The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame is worth the trip and doesn't take your whole bank account with it. It was very informative and so was the staff. I learned that the first horse appeared 60 million years ago and that actors were put with numerous different horses to see which horses would work with them the best. I had no idea that Robin Williams was afraid of horses and that Mixer made such beautiful artwork. I didn't know there was a branding language or that different types of horses were used for different purposes. I loved that they had an amphitheater and a little art room area. It was nice and cool. I really like the timelines that wrapped around the room and information about jockeys/horse races.

My son picked this as an attraction for our vacation. I thought it was going to be out in the heat and boring. Surprisingly, it was a very nice place with plenty of shade. The place is absolutely beautiful, my daughter was in love with all the flowers but the koi fish really got her attention.

Great experience at Wonderland with American Coaster Enthusiasts yesterday. Wonderland is full of unique and rare classic coasters and flat rides. Texas Tornado is one of a kind and a heck of a lot of fun.
I also really liked Fantastic Journey, the best example of a midway style dark ride I've ever seen. It's very well maintained and incredibly dark inside. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the park is clean and well maintained. I wish we could have ridden Hornet, but the trip was still very successful.

This is a wonderful park for first time kiddos wanting to experience roller coasters most larger rides require 48inches and only 2 rides require 50 inches. Great place for under the 48inches too ! Small enough to get the kids interested and be able to watch them have fun and enough rides for adults to enjoy. The water slides will result in a wet ending but not bad on warm enough days, be sure to dress in dark colored bottoms!! The lines were pretty short while we were there, this created time to ride multiple times while not being rushed to get to another! The Texas Twister was a hit for us! Although be sure to be a people person and invite others to ride, due to the ride must have a minimum of 18 riders to function for safety reasons! There were a few rides that were down but all the employees and especially the maintenance men were friendly and shared how the park is coming along for future events! The price was higher than most smaller parks but I also understand the importance of them raising funds due to low volume and maintenance needed! There are options for all day passes as well as tickets for certain rides and times! I look forward to seeing them make upgrades to the park and adding the special touches in the future! Since this park has history it will always draw a crowd. We easily spent the whole day there and will be back again! Cash was not permitted at this park at the time we were there.

We had SUCH a wonderful time! We traveled from Lubbock. We were huge fans of Joyland and were excited to see this family run park. The manager Adam noticed our Joyland shirts and was so kind! He made sure we had a blast, asked about improvements for the park, and happily welcomed us back with open arms. Fantastic Journey was too cool and we will most definitely be back!

The park was great! This was my first time going, and I have to say I was extremely impressed with how clean and family-friendly the park was. Adam, their GM, was very knowledgeable about the park, and his customer service was impeccable! There were plenty of shade trees and a few water rides to keep cool. Food and drink were never far. It is what's expected for an older amusement park. The staff was very nice and welcoming. Almost all the staff there seemed to enjoy the job. It was clean, no overfilled trash cans or empty containers and such rolling around. We had a blast. Almost zero wait time for the rides. I do wish there were just one wristband for all the rides. It's kinda silly to me that you have to pay extra for 2 rides, especially when the "scary" coaster needs to be updated. We will probably come back since it is convenient. But wouldn't travel more than 2 hrs to come...

This is a nice little museum and it is free admission! They have quite a collection of sculptures and statues from Southeast Asia. I wouldn't have expected that from such a small museum. Oh my goodness! This place is amazing. So many hands on activities to keep kids and adults busy. We had a great time. We needed more time, but got tired. There are artifacts also of birds and dinosaurs. We watched a short film in their planeterium/ theater that was very interesting. I highly recommend this place when you visit Amarillo with your kids. Spent the entire day here with our seven kids. We loved every minute of it. It was more to do then we could get done and the kids did not grow tired of the time at all. In fact, they were disappointed when we had to go get lunch late in the day. Definitely one of the headlights of Amarillo area. It is awesome and it’s even fun for adults. Wow! What an awesome place! This is the hot spot for your junior naturalist/future scientist! We were passing through from Colorado and looking for somwhere to take the kids on our route. Our 4 year old twins had a blast! We enjoyed it as well! It was hard to pick a favorite because every part was great! I did love the tree house area with the scat and track displays and the birds of prey taxidermy! We didn't realize how fun it would be and wish we could've stayed longer. We stayed about 3 hours. In that time we explored the whole center and even got to watch a movie in the planetarium. The gift shop was small, but very affordable! Check this place out ESPECIALLY if you have kids!

My son had an amazing time at summer camp at the Discovery Center for five weeks! Each week had a new fun theme, which made it exciting for him. I felt happy sending him there because the program was structured and included lots of fun learning. He even got to visit Wildcat Bluff every week! We went to see Tracy Byrd and the opening band (The Good Fortune ) was also amazing! Our first time seeing a concert there and we had an absolute blast. The place was nice and clean. They had plenty of security too. The venue is nice and small as well so the concert experience was even better because you can hear without dealing with echos. Parking is also pretty close to the entrance so that's a plus after dancing all night and taking those tired feet home! Will absolutely be coming back soon:)

I’ve attended 2 events here And I really love the space. It feels like a really tiny midstate fair. There’s little buildings all around and a nice big stage and seating area. The VIP area was really nice where we sat and watched a concert. One of these events I was a vendor. I had trouble with the Wi-Fi for my square reader but I hear they may have resolved that now. There’s a tiny little playground and mini golf on site. They have always had additional Porta potty‘s in addition to their regular restrooms. The on-site bar actually has whiskey and vodka and tequila which is nice. Too bad they don’t serve big Texan beer! That would be an awesome addition and I would pay more money for specialty beer rather than Bud Light! I really quite like this venue. I will say that when the wind blows it can get quite dusty out there which isn’t ideal but it is Amarillo after all!

As a heritage center this place is overflowing with history, artifacts, displays and a passionate and knowledgeable staff. During a recent trip on the Memorial Day weekend the wife and I made a stop to see what we could learn and experience. Inside is plenty of artwork that can be purchased, tours, and a more hands on scouting exhibit. When you enter you are greeted by a dance hall which has seating and plenty of plains art, totems, and other regalia. From there, as you move through the exhibits, and display cases, there is plenty of information on things that we may recognize from movies or television: head dresses, weapons, masks and other sorts but help you realize what tribes they represent, and their importance. In fact during my visits there were some First Nation folks there to gather more about their history. If you have visited History of the plains museum in Rapid City, you will love this place too.

FANTASTIC art and artifacts are available to see. The staff was amazing! Everyone was very nice and informative. The scavenger hunt was a really nice touch. I liked that it gave ppl incentive to do something they typically wouldn’t. Like how it got me to do the beer puppeteer lol my only complaints are, how early they put away the food. I don’t think they ever announced that you only had so long to get food, and if they did we didn’t hear them, so neither one of us got to eat. The food was so amazing last year, we were really looking forward to it this year. Also, last year there were lots of breweries giving away “swag” and everyone got wildcat “swag bag”. We were really bummed that we went home empty handed. Regardless, we’re gonna be back next year and I would absolutely recommend checking it out!

We got a family plan after Palo Duro Canyon was doing online reservations only and selling out. It's nice that the center is at the edge of town so it's easy to get over for a quick jog or walk. Boss lady and I were driving through town and believed all the hype. The joint is small, dirty, and the floors uneven but that's what makes this joint appealing to some.

Nice place to visit near the botanical gardens regarding the history of helium here in Amarillo. Also, the old helium plant is not far from here on Amarillo Blvd on the western edge of town.
This monument used to be near I-40 and was visible to anyone passing through Amarillo. But it was moved to this location in 1982.
The signs and plaques could use a good cleaning and refurbishment, but the stainless steel monument looks great.

02/04/2025 - Went to Amarillo Civic Center for an expo. As this was my first time there, I was uncertain of what to expect.
Although the line was *EXTREMELY* long, the staff did a great job of keeping things moving at a fairly reasonable pace without overcrowding the display areas. The temperature was comfortable, and the noise level was low enough for normal conversation.
At the expo were several dozen displays representing various organizations that seek to serve our community - ranging from Heal the City, to 211, to Coming Home, and many more.
The facility was clean and well maintained, and the APD officers on hand were polite, professional, and helpful (thank you, Officer Gutierrez!), and did a great job of keeping things running smoothly and in order.
Although I was only in the South Hall, I was pleased with my first time at the Amarillo Civic Center, and I look forward to my next time there.

I partook of the finest Mexican breakfast I’ve yet had in Amarillo. The chilaquiles with guisado (red stewed beef) and huevos (scrambled.) From the quality of ingredients, the homemade tastes, the presentation and the portions, the breakfast was scrumptious. Service was excellent, coffee was good, hot and refilled. The chips are not my favorite (no salt, don’t taste freshly fried) and the salsa thin but stinging hot.

I eat here often and love introducing out or towners and new residents. It’s my favorite Mexican food. The hot sauce (salsa) is my favorite! The tomatillo sauce is great with any of the meats. It’s not traditional Tex-Mex. If you are looking for Tex Mex I recommended the fajitas, high quality chicken and beef.
My favorite entree is carne asada (in the photo)! I also like asada tacos with onions, cilantro and queso fresco. Cheese enchiladas are wonderful too (they use the same queso fresco). For breakfast the carne asada with chilaquiles is the best. The flour tortillas are thin, soft and really big. Also try the fresh chunky guacamole!

We spotted the Second Amendment Cowboy from the interstate and had to go back. The huge cowboy is very eye catching but there is more. A Unique and Memorable Stop Worth Supporting!
We stopped by 2nd Amendment Cowboy during a weekday road trip, and it was such a cool and unexpected little spot. The giant cowboy figure makes for a great photo opportunity fun, quirky, and very “Texas.” It’s a simple stop, but perfect for stretching your legs and capturing some fun memories.
Inside, there’s a small store that doesn’t have a huge selection, but enough to grab a souvenir or two. The best part? The guy running the shop was super friendly and welcoming. He took the time to chat with us, made us feel at home, and really added a personal touch to the experience.
Places like this are what make road trips special. It’s a small business that deserves support and we’re glad we stopped. Highly recommended if you’re in the area or just passing through!

Great tour, but be forewarned that while this is a free tour, they only schedule tours on two weekday mornings per week, with only a few tours on each of those days, and a very small number of guests per tour, so you must book in advance.
Huge 4 story home.....tours include 3 of the floors...house had amazing features for when it was built. The artwork, rugs, and furnishings were amazing.
The volunteer docents are very knowledgeable about the home and its furnishings, and gave a wonderful tour.
In my opinion, this museum is a can't miss when visiting Amarillo.

Excellent Overnight Stop!
We recently visited the Amarillo Travel Information Visitor Center off Interstate 40, and it was a fantastic experience. The facility was spotlessly clean and had a very safe and welcoming atmosphere. We stayed overnight in our RV in the parking lot, and it was well lit, with visible surveillance cameras, which gave us peace of mind.
They offer free maps and Texas-themed stickers, which was a nice bonus! And right across the street is a Buc-ee’s, making it super convenient for fuel, snacks, and supplies.
It's also good to know that the restrooms and vending machines are open 24 hours, even though the visitor center itself closes at 6 p.m. That made our overnight stay much more comfortable.
Whether you’re just passing through or need a secure, quiet place to stay overnight, we highly recommend this stop. It’s clean, convenient, and traveler-friendly—everything you’d want from a roadside visitor center.

Tonight was my second visit since last year and I was quickly reminded why I loved this place so much. I enjoyed chips and salsa with my SO as a fantastic live band played surrounded by incredible art pieces on the walls. I’m not sure why anyone would be offended, or complain, about the art or the “dark and dingy” vibe of the place. Just a reminder!! Art is here to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed! (The art wasn’t disturbing at all, it was just some nudity and if you can’t handle that then go to the swing set outside of town).
The artists are talented, the food came quickly, and the vibe was great. We decided on alcoholic beverages since it was about 9:00pm when we got there and I loved the selection and choices. It was a smaller selection but it didn’t matter because they had something for everyone. The chips and salsa were FRESH! And I loved that they were blue corn chips as well!
On another matter, I was pleasantly surprised and thankful to see what this nice place has to offer. Not just food, drink, music, and art. But also protection and safety for others. I saw the previous review about the condoms on the counter. I think it’s extremely reasonable and it helps others live their lives safely. It’s not a “leftist” establishment. It’s a humane establishment. In a country we’re living in right now it’s a pleasure to visit such an open minded establishment that not only supports local artists but also those whos rights and lives are in jeopardy.
I will be back, and I can’t wait to try more on the menu!

First I will start by simply saying WOW.
My misses and I hadnt been since we were kids and with the recent events that have happened in town, we wanted to support locally and go on a date night and landed on this because of there amazing advertising on the facebook page. So we got her little cousin and set off to watch two disney movies this evening. As soon as we got to the gate, we were greeted by the friendliest man who if I remember correctly is named brent. This man was amazing, gave us an entire run down of the place and other local businesses with coupons and alot of information! Then we paid our entry and food pass and found a great spot! They have a nice area for the kiddos to play so we killed sometime by swinging and playing on a merry go round which is wild to say in the year 2025 so thank you for that nostalgic ride. The little one mentioned being hungry and so we got to check out the concessions online and placed an order and within 10 minutes, we had a variety of hot, fresh food to enjoy with our movies! The staff at both lines were so so kind and im thankful for them all as well! Personal plus for me was having to go to the bathroom and being afraid to miss a moment in the movie when as im doing what I gotta do, I hear the audio from the movie playing on a speaker in the bathroom!!! This was an amazing night of family fun and im excited to come back here as much as I can this and all further seasons. Thank you all for providing a nice affordable place for amarillo residents and visitors alike to come together and have a good time!

Definitely worth getting the car load pass if you have more than three adults.
Food pass is $10. While I hadn't heard of this before, it makes sense to me.

A+ I love this kind of BBQ joint. Real smoked BBQ in a down home atmosphere. The service was great; quick, friendly, relaxed and informative. The meat (Sliced beef and pork ribs) was tender and flavorful. The sauce was well paired with the meat; tomato based with a nice kick of hot pepper. The potato salad was also prepared with a knowing hand. Not too much mayo and a little extra vinegar. You could taste the potatoes, which is a pleasant change from most modern potato salads. I didn't care for the beans, I thought they were plain, but my wife liked them. Even the homemade sweet tea was good. The 2 meat plate we ordered was big enough to split between two people with a little left over to bring home. I loved the old school look of the restaurant but some people might like something a like more polished. Overall, an excellent lunch, worth another trip next time I'm in Amarillo

The environment and service are outstanding, they are really nice and down to earth people and you can tell they enjoy what they do. Extremely disappointed in this library. I came here to work, hoping for the standard quiet library experience. As far as the building, it’s very well laid out and seems optimal for getting some work done in peace. However, it has become a den of homeless people (or “transients” for the pc crowd) to charge their phones and have loud, vulgar phone calls about their sexual escapades. The staff must have gone blind to the issue, the desk clerk looked unfazed by the vulgarity and volume. No one could realistically relax and focus on work or study while guests are having loud discussions, phone calls, and entire meals of gas station food. Not a single person reading or studying.
No enforcement of volume or courtesy for those who actually want to use the library as a library.
My daughter loves the SE library. I’ve been excited to bring her here, as the building is so neat. I wouldn’t dare bring her here, it is far too uncomfortable and unsafe.
Two stars are for the buildings itself. But really, this isn’t even a library, it should be called the Buchanan Homeless Phone-Charging Center. Can’t believe we all pay taxes for this to be the de-facto purpose of this building.
