I approached the bartender and let him know about my party. He told me that we "could just share some tables or something and that they don't high chairs " I wasn't surprised about the high chair given the kind of place it is, but I was surprised at his "figure it out yourself"attitude. However, there was an older man seated at the bar with friends. He politely informed the bartender that he could get a tall high chair from another place, and return it after. He then instructed some employees to join two tables together and move seats accordingly. He completely changed the outcome of our whole experience by just making a couple simple gestures that showed he cared that we enjoyed our day. This meant a lot to us as these were visitors from out of town and their first time experiencing something like the Float Bar and it's amazing setup and views. Thank you to that man. It was so bad that families were running inside while the husbands stood in line to buy tickets. They were so bad they would hide in my daughter’s hair and still come out when we were inside and bite us. Made the trip not worth it. I would suggest putting mosquito air blasts at the entrances of the pyramids and maybe mosquito zappers all over the place. My kids are covered in bites now on the way home. They arnt even talking about how they had fun just how much they itch and hurt from the bites. Also keep in mind the weather is not even humid as it hasn’t rained in weeks it’s like 85 and dry outside so I can only imagine if it was hot and humid.

Virginia was our server. She was great right out of the gate! We chose inside dining since it was still a little warm outside. The inside if really cool because they have a pool view right along the side of the restaurant. Apparently, it is a family-owned restaurant and motel. We did not sit on that side, but it was neat to see. They have outdoor seating that faces the ocean, regular table seating inside, booth seating inside, and an inside bar area. We were in between lunch and dinner, but we were very hungry. We decided on the Shrimp Bang Bang, gumbo, oysters, and friend pickles (don't judge! ;)) Everything was very good. I think my favorite was the Shrimp Bang Bang and the gumbo. The siracha sauce was very tasty. Virginia was super throughput our stay. There's a lot of birds to look at, neat fishing spots, kayak launch points, observation tower, beach access on the south side of the park, showers, restrooms, campsites with electricity and water, primitive camp sites, saltwater and freshwater lakes, BBQ pits... all sorts of neat things about this park. Be warned, the park is known to have alligators and venomous snakes, so stay on the trails and be alert during the warm weather months.

The tacos tasted good but they were very small and overpriced at $17 per order. Each little corn tortilla was maybe 3 inches in diameter. We ordered a side of fries and received maybe 20 fries for $6. The person sitting across the table from us received a steak that was raw in the middle, after they had ordered a well done steak. It took 30 minutes for the replacement steak to arrive....after everyone else in our group had just about finished eating. The restaurant did comp the steak, but the long wait put us late for our next stop on our night out. Our meal took 2 hours, which is a bit on the long side. Did a quick Google review and realize I'm missing out of some great food. Arrive early Saturday evening for dinner, was seated quickly. Got our drink order and app fairly quickly also. With help of the waiter, ended up getting the seawall platter and shrimp po boy. I ended up going with blackened shrimp and fish with Mac. It was delicious, along with the large soft roll. Wife only down side was that the po boy didn't have a remoulade sauce to go with the sandwich. Couldn't eat dinner without dessert, their award winning ganache pecan brownie with ice cream. For us there was to much ganache and chocolate sauce, but once we scrap it away and are the brownie it was pretty good. Would def recommend trying this place out if you haven't. I will come back to try other dishes the next time we're in Galveston. Another nice feature was the upstairs outdoor patio where they serve cold drinks with a great view. No need to purchase anything to check out the patio and seating.

This place is awesome. The atmosphere is mid to high end steak house vibe. We sat on the porch so we could see the boats. Our waiter Robert was amazing. I worked in the restaurant business at their age (or maybe younger) and I can never imagine not smiling and greeting the guests. Different world today for sure! We were seated in a nice booth. The table linens suggested a fine dining, so I was looking forward to it very much. Our waiter was super nice, but he was so soft spoken and had an accent, it was very hard to understand him. He brought fresh garlic bread to the table and gave us time to review the menu. We decided to split the wedge salad, bowl of lobster bisque. and an appetizer of shrimp Cabo. Our salad came out first. We told the waiter we wanted to split before it was brought to our table. It arrived on one plate and the waiter handed me an additional plate. Found out about it through word of mouth from locals and let me tell you it did not disappoint. It is very unassuming from the outside, but inside it is a cute little seafood restaurant. Tons of train cars and cars to walk through and explore. Lots of displays showing how life was on the cars and what was commonly used on them. Staff was very nice, no wait to see anything, and there’s free parking. The only thing that did surprise me, maybe because the Rosenberg museum spoiled us, was there’s only two small rooms of model trains. There are shelf’s with tons of model trains but they are on display, unlike Rosenberg who has built huge working city like displays to show them off. Overall though, the kid loved it and would come back again. We didn’t get to enjoy it but if we would have came the next day they do offer some sort of train rides.

Brad’s eyes literally rolled back in his head twice- once when he took his first bite of grilled shrimp and when he took a bite of strawberry shortcake made from scratch! Literally the best place in all of Galveston!!! The salt on the corner is a joke now but it definitely made a first impression and probably a lasting. When we asked for it, this server said, “Oh, you guys didn’t get it?” Obviously not, everyone else had white plates with bread to munch on and we didn’t even have a plate. Please do not do that, wait a few minutes before we finish to come ask, “Are you guys still working on your plates?”. If a table orders one dessert and there’s more than one person, then bring them small plates. Small plates with napkins and spoon on top. Do not just lay the spoons on the dirty table that several plates had been on. Do not let the customers lean over the one plate of cake. 4) New York Strip was cooked so unevenly. I asked for medium rare and one side was overcooked and the other side was medium rare. You need to let your steak sit in room temp, get it on a nice sear but lay the thicker side on the sear first if it’s an uneven steak, then baste well. If I’m expecting top notch steak, as it’s supposed to be a steakhouse, the temperature should be even on both ends. If the difference between the ends are too vast for an even cook, please adjust the size. You guys should know this. The actual medium rare side was also chewy, I should not have a hard time swallowing a new york strip — it’s not a chuck roast. Overall, the oysters were great. They were plump, sandless, and juice was still on the shells. Props for the crackers on there, it’s good for people who can’t stomach oysters as well. Cake was good but could be more moist. Environmentally the ambience was nice, the windows depict the boats and sunset very well, and music was well chosen.
