Food was absolutely delicious and surpassed my expectations. We ordered a few dishes from each group selection on the menu and shared. Especially loved the baby carrots, mandarin, cardamom and bay dressing as well as the heirloom beets. She offered to replace the item or deduct it from the bill. Though the food tasted well the waitress also realised her explanation regarding the octopus tail was not clear enough. We were told it was a grilled octopus on a pumpkin purée. When it arrived the Verdé on top contained coriander and the octopus contained cumin. If we had known this we would not have ordered the dish due to allergies. They were very apologetic and removed the item from the bill which was appreciated and something restaurant staff don’t do usually and can come across quite rude. The service was of a high standard and I recommend this restaurant when in Adelaide for wine and tapas. The serving sizes is generous for 2 people. I would return on my next visit to SA.

Most of the dishes we had were sitting in a pool of oil and half of the dishes were just not worth ordering. The grilled squid which was my least favourite dish was so salty it was offensive (mind you being an asian with low-blood pressure I have a savoury palate and add salt to most dishes). The squid itself had too much salt and the sauce was also very heavy handed with salt and tasted very soy-bean-paste like. There were also pieces of squid that were overgrilled and burnt which made them bitter and inedible. The prawn dish was just disappointing as they were tiny, overcooked and not very tasty. The 3 dishes that were just so-so were the black sausage, steak with blue cheese and broccolini with almonds. The black sausage could've been grilled more and didn't taste the freshest; the steak was.. OK. There's definitely better steaks out there, but this was cooked well and still pink in the middle.  It was probably a mistake on our part to order steak in a 'non-steak' restaurant. The brocollini sat on top of a very delicious sauce and topped with nicely toasted almonds, but was doused with too much oil. On the bright side, the smoked cod croquettes were actually better than the ones we've had in Spain and the seared tuna dish was as good as ones served in a Japanese restaurant. There was enough sear on the fish and the taste of the sauce complemented the tuna really well. The mushroom dish was our favourite although it was also sitting in a pool of oil. It was very flavoursome and was sauteed to the right level of doneness.  Service could also be better -  though they did put the 2 dishes they've forgotten FOC, we waited at least half an hour before the dishes finally arrived. One other waitress also kept asking if we were done; it was obvious she wasn't told about the 2 dishes we were still waiting on. I also wondered why the first waitress didn't use a notepad when she took our long order in the first place. As more guests started coming in, they started to crowd at the front door near where we sat which became quite uncomfortable as there was very little social distancing. Overall I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. On one hand, it's probably our fault to not have ordered their jamon and manchego as that would be their specialty, on the other hand there's definitely better chaturie/tapas places in Adelaide with better food and atmosphere. 3 stars.

Staff were welcoming and personable; food was immaculate. Their beautiful wine was a necessity to cut through their rich meats, and their rye bread was among the best I have ever tasted. They are masters of using acidic pickles to cut through the decadent food. I had the Brussels sprouts with Gorgonzola cream, chilli honey, pecorino and toasted almonds as my main. It was incredible. Great call, very warm and cosy up there and service was constant. The food, the quality of everything we ate was exceptional. Bar Cumbria and Kitchen is a small restaurant on the Grote St side of the Adelaide Central Market serving foods inspired from varied South American and Latin countries. The food is designed to share - though you may want to hog some dishes all to yourself! Being small, bookings are recommended, particularly for larger groups. This was my second visit. It’s popular, and once you have eaten there, you’ll understand why. We were lucky to grab a seat for dinner during a Friday night market shopping trip. Our host made sure we were looked after for food and drink, whilst making sure his staff attended the other diners needs. No one was left waiting long for anything that night! We had a meal of shared plates: empanadas; patatas bravas; Argentinian steak and roast broccoli on a Lima bean puree. The wine and cocktail were also delicious. The empanadas were lovely, crisp pillows of deliciousness. 3 to a serve with mixed fillings. The Argentinian steak was perfectly cooked to melt in the mouth tenderness. A touch of char flavour from the grill. The roasted broccoli was a serious treat and almost stole the glory from the steak! The Lima bean puree provided a silky accompaniment, and the crunchy seeds a wonderful textural contrast. We will definitely be back!

Wine list and menu was fantastic. Love the atmosphere and vibe with the decor and record player. The oysters were fine though the mignioette wasn’t balance in my opinion - there was too much wine vinegar. I’m not a fan of chicken liver pate - but if you were you’d probably enjoy the cracker, although it was very sweet and there was a lot of it in comparison to the thin cracker. Beetroot skewer was surprisingly amazing, the flavours were so good - sweet, sour, salty. Yum. The ox tongue skewer was also incredible, the peppercorn mushroom gravy was so good. It’s a little out of the way at the quieter end of The Parade, but opposite a nice local pub.
