Came in on October 6th around 5 pm for a very late / early lunch, just before our show of The Devil Wears Prada later in the evening. Doorman and then lift to the actual floor the resturant is on. Cosy and well presented throughout. We also had Cendol which was recommended by the lady boss who came to speak to us and knowing about the restaurant was opened at 2018 On the whole, we were very happy with the meal and the service. Got this out of a restaurant guide book and you never know with those so I was very pleased to find this place completely charming. Small space but done up beautifully, some nice classy lobsters painted on the tile etc, doesn’t feel cramped at all. My favorite kind of menu too, lots of good little plates like anchovies (perfect) grilled sardines (flawless- very good pickled fennel). I love prawns but none of the ones I’ve had in London have been deveined which I find very unpleasant but maybe it’s just a European thing so I didn’t enjoy that but the lemon mayo they came with??? Just that with one of their salads and you have a great meal but if you delve into entrees highly recommend the trout. It had a seaweed thing going on that we had great respect for. The crab salad sandwich could be really good but the bread was staleish and dry. There wasn’t much filling, might’ve just been a bad day for it. The salad that came with was great though. And DESSERT my god get the fig tart and maybe get ten of them. Warm, nutty, perfect bake, great fresh tasting fig, we were fighting over it and I’ve missed it since. The staff were wonderful and other diners were very classy looking people, sort of a fun mix of polish and punk. If you’ve been to NYC and enjoyed a place called Jeffrey’s Grocery this spot is up your alley- or if you’re just a human who likes a cool spot with great food.

Our favourite was the beef Penang curry - it tasted unlike any Thai or Malaysian curry I’ve ever had and I loved it. It was good but not great and rather expensive. Wine was exorbitant. A bottle of the house red was 45 quid. It is a small place with American diner furniture where being seated at the bar is popular. They rushed my bowl away almost as soon as my chopsticks were down, and I felt hurried to drink my tea. Being near the door, I saw other customers being treated in an unfriendly and almost passive aggressive manner too. I found the place cozy with a friendly old lady and amicable staff, offering both hospitality and tradition. The decor is very simple but warm. The deli is full of Persian goods and the rooftop is informal but pleasant to the eye. The restaurant is vegetarian friendly. The portions are generous for a fixed price of £25 per person. The old lady was generous enough as to let us bring our own drink, which we appreciated. My favorite dish was the roasted butternut squash filled with a rich mix of lentils, chickpeas and nuts. Also a must try is the grilled halloumi served with freshly baked flatbread, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with sesame seeds. We had a feast menu for four and added one extra main, this was more than enough food for 6 - we took enough for two more meals home. It’s really great value and the food is excellent, in fact, it even tastes better the next day! I would highly recommend the carrot float to drink and, out of what we tried, the stuffed peppers, roasted aubergine and fatteh were the stand outs. If they could make the lighting in the restaurant space ever so slightly warmer it would be even better. But it’s quite charming as is.

Loved two of the dishes but the other ones where really under seasoned and quite bland; From this i would probably pick out food instead of going for the sharing. Besides the under seasoned food, you get so much and you’ll be leaving very full! The drinks are amazing, really recommend the smoothies and amazing prices! The staff where okay, we arrived and the service was great at the start but then became very slow and felt like we had been forgotten about.My boyfriend and his brother both work in hospitality and weren’t happy with the way we where being treated; We had to call over two times, while they all stood behind the bar watching everyone when our table had no space. When it came to paying we asked to remove service charge as we felt it was very poor being left for 40 minutes. The lady was quite hostile about us removing this, we explained why and she just spoke back to us. The atmosphere is lovely and the restraunt and shop is beautiful!! Would return but to get single items and hope for better service!
