It turned out that I was across the street from the actual museum even though the whole area is considered part of the museum. It is a beautiful area and we enjoyed the walk. The Motown Review at Miller Outdoor Theatre was an absolute vibe! From the first note to the final encore, the energy was electric and the talent on stage was phenomenal. They brought all the classics to life — smooth vocals, tight harmonies, and that unmistakable Motown groove that had the whole crowd dancing in their seats (and on the lawn!). I love going each year. I also like how they divide the hillside with blankets on one side and chairs on the other giving everyone a chance to see. Parking is a nightmare if you don’t arrive very early. I arrived at 5:30PM to ensure I was able to get a parking space. The atmosphere was beautiful — a perfect Houston night with music, community, and good vibes all around. TL;DR definitely go see it! Parking was very easy in the Hobby Garage for $20. Thankfully, a nice gentleman working outside pointed us towards the correct entrance. We arrived about 30 minutes early and got our tickets from Will Call with no issues, taking some photos of the 80's memorabilia outside. It was easy to find our way to the upstairs seats in the Left Mezzanine. I don't think there are really any bad seats in the theater; I could clearly hear and see everything. The show itself was longer than expected (ended around 10:30PM) but it was so much fun. I went in blind, having not seen American Psycho, and it was definitely inspiration to go watch the movie. The actors and musicians were top notch, the scene transitions were smooth, and they used lightning to highlight movement extremely well. A few minor camera jostles here and there and I think the Detective's microphone was a tad lower but overall, an amazing production for one of their first showings!

The Amsterdam theater, CiBC Chicago and Hotel Theatre in Vegas. The Hobby Center by far was my best viewing experience because of the site lines and the sheer comfort and leg room of the seats. I am 6 ft 2 / 235 lbs, so I fill up a seat pretty good! This was our first time here so I was a little nervous about the parking situation because we arrived only 45 minutes prior to our 7pm showing. The paid parking was a breeze but the lesson learned was to probably arrive at least 1 hour ahead so you don’t end up above the 4th floor. When leaving the exiting process is the worst part of the whole experience. They empty the garage from the bottom up! A better option would probably be to valet if you don’t want the hassle ($25) . The theater is also one of the better looking ones that I have visited. Everything was clean including the restrooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had right balcony seats for The Wiz and the view was very good. The only thing that may have been slightly off was that with certain characters I had trouble understanding the dialogue. There was also an elevator not operating so transporting people to the upper levels was limited to one elevator but the staff did a great job of making that happen as efficiently as possible. It took us about 30 minutes to get out of the garage after getting to our car, so that’s my reason for the 4 Stars and not 5. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

If you get hungry or thirsty, the George Theater serves drinks and snacks. You are not permitted to bring them into the theater, so be sure to finish them before you make your way to your seat. Another restriction is picture taking. You can’t take pictures during the shows, however you are free to snap a pic or two before the actual show, during intermission, etc. The George Theater is an impressive size from the outside. You really can’t miss the large, stand- alone building. Another plus is the parking- the George Theater has its own parking lot with more than enough spaces for all, and the parking is free! Husband and I saw Ocean Valley and the vibes were great. Cozy atmosphere and it didn’t feel like we were on top of people. The only cons I have are the food and bathrooms. The bathrooms downstairs were nice but upstairs the toilets were pretty gross. The food wasn’t great either. For the price I didn’t expect something that seemed like microwaved frozen food. Didn’t hinder my experience though! 🤍 They should also look into making the area more wheelchair accessible. Inside there was a ramp on the side closer to the entrance but not on the opposite side where the elevator is. Just steps/stairs. It didn’t affect me directly but I noticed how it affected others.

It is a nice, smaller theater with a more personal feel. The theater is kept pretty clean, i did over hear a lady say there was gum on her seat, but no problems on my end. The seats were comfortable and the way it is laid out it doesn't look like there is a bad seat in the house for viewing. They do have a concession area outside with different snack options and drinks that are not over priced. The theater is located in not so great of an area, but on a good note there is a parking garage right accross the street from it, but it charges by the hour. My kids and I really enjoyed the production although not sure if we will go back for another.
