Our server gave us no pressure to place our drink, appetizer and meal orders quickly but did check on us frequently in case we needed her. The queso flameado was a cheese pull dish topped with chorizo and served with a side of fresh homemade flour tortillas. My son ordered the kids’ enchiladas, I ordered the Tacos del Mercado, and my husband got the Poblano Dinner. Portions were decent and with the chips and salsa and appetizer, we ended up taking half our meals home for the next day. We stopped at the bakery counter on the way out to get some dessert/next day’s breakfast and got an assortment of breads and jello. Everything was great quality and tasted fresh. You could taste the spices used to make the pan dulce, it wasn’t just filled with sugar. We highly recommend Mi Tierra to anyone wanting a festive and vibrant experience for your tastes and sights!

He made an amazing old fashioned for the hubs and I had a French 75. When I say the attention to detail was there… man it was. I almost didn’t want to drink my beverage it was so pretty. Food came out quickly and pipping hot. Husband had the burger and I had the mussels with fries. All the mussels were open which means the kitchen pays attention to detail. Yall I wanted to drink the sauce from the bowl, but I decided to drop my fries into the sauce and let them swim a moment before eating them. I had a bite of my husbands burger. When you bite into the burger, it melts in your mouth. They do not overwork their meat and they know how to cook a medium rare burger (those that don’t like the redness in a burger, move on. It’s worth the risk). Such an amazing texture and perfectly seasoned. Since it was 5pm and approaching my bedtime (don’t judge me) I had a coffee and we split a key lime pie. They do the coffee right with the French press and the key lime has a meringue topping that was perfectly toasted. The flavor and amount of the sauce provided was perfect and definitely left us wanting more. The Potato Crusted Calamari was solid, with the peppers and sauce providing a good mix of flavors and textures. The steaks were all cooked perfectly and had great crusts, but came out more room temp than piping hot. That threw us off a bit, but not enough to disappoint the meal. The side sauces were hit or miss, with the Roquefort being the better of the two and the Cognac Pepper being more lackluster. The side dishes of Lobster Risotto and Susie’s Famous Mashed Potatoes were both good, but not great. All three of our desserts were tasty and gave us a tasty end to our dining experience. The Chocolate Mousse Cake that came with one of our Restaurant Week orders was a nice mix of textures, with the candied pecans and chocolate chips on top making each bite better than the last. The Half Baked and Chocolate Tres Leches Cake were amazing and ended up being nice compliments to one another. This place is hidden in plain sight being located beneath the food hall at the pearl. You take the set of stairs on the side of the building down into a hidden speak easy-esque bar and dining room with a stage where the band plays. I attended a New Orleans themed night which was absolutely amazing. The band was phenomenal and routinely plays at jazz, TX. The drink I had was so delicious that I ordered three! The drink menu is unique and very very good, as is the food menu! I ordered the calamari, risotto, and tried my friend’s ravioli which was also delicious. The service was also outstanding. I have heard so many complaints and horror stories about this place, yet I didn’t want to jump to conclusions without first hand knowledge so here is a breakdown. Security is ineffective or over the top. It seems there is no in-between. They will pat you down, check purses and bags, remove whatever they feel like they don’t want inside without any logic to what they are looking for but trust me something will be thrown out of your belongings or you can’t enter. They are not there to make you safe as much as they are to enforce the word of management or just do as they please. Don’t expect them to be objective or honest about what they see or do. The bartenders are a mixed bag of rude and inconvenienced by your existence as a patron. Some are slightly more competent then the rest but overall bottom of the barrel service and drink/tab issues galore with very little effort from management to correct basic customer needs. Dealing with management in any capacity is a sure fire way to be removed from the premises, so just avoid it if you ever mistakenly end up here. Bathrooms are dirty, crowded and poorly kept. Bathroom line policies are uniquely annoying compared to any bar/club/venue I’ve ever heard of. They have themed nights and it’s surprisingly big inside however that allure only amplifies the disappointment of what this bar could be. The outright failure of management to properly provide a safe environment for its customers is only overshadowed by their lack of care to the customers themselves. They don’t care about your experience, what you say or why you are complaining. They will do what they want regardless. Basic safety is noticeably not a priority for them. I could never wrap my mind around how this cesspool manages to operate with all this outright nonsense. Take your money and time elsewhere it’s just not worth it.

After a great class I had a refreshing strawberry Vodka lemonade and my partner had a whiskey cocktail with a cinnamon stick that he enjoyed. Overall we were very satisfied with the venue and its location.
