While the housekeeping team did a lovely job decorating our room (a sweet gesture that truly made me smile), overall our experience felt below expectations for a five-star hotel, The hotel seemed completely sold out, and the staff appeared stretched thin. The standards have dropped. The grand welcome with the music and shower of flower petals and all was a good gesture, but what’s the use of all that when basic amenities were not right. Food was average. After serving soup in the room, the waiter was sent 3 times to the room to ask about billing. They shouldn’t have disturbed us for the next 1 hour atleast after serving food. That’s common sense. However, Staff was humble. Our butler Mr.Akash deserves a special mention as he was just one call away and took good care of all our needs. We were frustrated with the TV Internet connectivity issues. They also couldn’t get a simple Indian tea right and eggs were never upto the mark. The staff was confused whether they had a separate cafe menu or not. Because of the rains, the floors were slippery and I almost slipped a couple of times. Our next destination is the Leela palace, Jaipur and I hope they don’t let us down there.

The hotel itself has a calm and relaxed feel to it and nothing is too much for the staff. Rickshaws are plentiful and after a couple of trips out in one you get to know just how much to pay getting from the hotel and back which in real terms isn't that much considering you can get to most places of interest for 100-150 rupees. If you don't want to stay in the middle of the city centre or on the lake edge where I found it to smell a little from the water then I would highly recommend staying here. If I do ever come back to Udaipur I would definitely stay again.

Although their location is good and interior is beautiful and reflects heritage. Other things are not great. The flush at their washroom doesn't work. There's no window inside room that will allow entering natural lights. Their staff is unaware about most of the things when you call them to reach the hotel. It's difficult to reach the hotel because of extremely narrow lane. But the most shocking part is - when I called them and said that traffic control is now allowing me to take my car towards your hotel they said yeah they won't allow, so please park your car somewhere come by Auto. They did not bear a penny of our parking charges. And we had to park our car on the open road where we had to pay 200 bucks also. During their breakfast which was part of the package in my booking, I asked for bread toast for 3timea and waited till the end to get it. For me this was our stay at Bujira Fort, Udaipur. From the very second we arrived and walked through the one thousand year old, 30 ft wooden doors reclaimed from an old palace it was bliss, bliss and more bliss. Richard was the most wonderful host, full of stories, laughter and once again nothing, not anything was too much trouble for him and his marvellous staff. There was a wee snug downstairs with chairs grouped around a fireplace which would be so cosy in winter. The breakfasts, the dinners, the afternoon tea - just so scrumptious. I do envy folk who are going to stay here. The chances of me ever getting to India again are totally nil, but if I had the finance and energy I would go over to Rajasthan just to stay for a few weeks here in this haven of beauty and delight. All these adjectives might sound a little O.T.T. (over-the-top) but I assure you I have under described it, rather than fully described it. The location is good, and the fact that they have free parking for guests is a plus (though they also let non-guests park there for a fee). Little did we know what an unprofessional and horrible experience it would be. We received a message from the owner on Agoda on 13th Aug that “our room is not available for 15th Aug” and another message to “contact them”. When we contacted them, they tell us that the rooms are not available for both days, and that they sent the above message to us on 12th Aug - As if giving us a heads up 2 days prior to check-in would somehow magically make it better. Further in our conversation, the owner says because we didn’t respond on 12th Aug, he assumed we weren’t arriving to the haveli and cancelled our stay. We can only make our own assumption at this junction, that he found someone who’s willing to pay a higher price for the stay. This experience was the reason for our stress of homelessness and the dire need for a stay on a public holiday and disrupted our schedule and enjoyment of Udaipur. While we can all wish for integrity, honesty and fair play be instilled in these businesses, the onus needs to fall on the proprietor of the hotel and booking agencies to penalise such behaviour.

The place is so beautiful and aesthetic. Its clean and tidy. The bed was super cozy and comfortable, the washrooms were clean, the sitting area was perfectly decorated and the awesome swimming pool. The room was smaller than I expected due to two pillars that were part of the room. Lights of the room and washroom was quite dim. TV was definitely not working, for the whole 3 days. I complaint and the attendant told me that it will be corrected tomorrow. Even the tv remote was not in the room. Washroom has a geyser, but the washroom was poorly designed due to which whole water will accumulate in the bathroom and it will be a big problem, as no bathroom slippers or door mat is provided. Yes 2 towels were provided by the hotels. No door bells, very steep and narrow stairs. Rooms on 3rd and 4th floor. Restaurant on 5th floor, very tiring job to go up and down. No rooms cleaning service, no towel change, no bed sheet change. I even faced trouble in sleeping due to pillows were not comfortable for me, and there was gap creating between two mattresses due to no double bed sheet was used. All in all, I would recommend to stay here if you are tight in budget and do not care about above mentioned.
