Even worse — after over an hour of being completely ignored (while the security guard sat there making TikToks), the issue was finally resolved by waking up a sleeping staff member who was staying on a different floor of the same hotel. There is also a lot of great restaurants around the hostel. I like the small hostel, you can meet up with people from any country, people respect each other privacy, closing door softly, no loud phone in the room, no loud talking, friendly greeting, no smoking or eating in the room. Quiet time after 11pm till morning, had nice sleep throughout my 5 nights stay. Simple place, but well designed with the power sockets and small little shelf in the bunk to keep the phone up for charging and a couple small things like keys and etc. Friendly staffs too. Jeff, the hostel guy looks like a loneranger. Beside another girl is here for the other shift, both of them are basically on their own. Their secret weapon appears to be their association with Toscani's restaurant a few doors down. Order a happy hour beer at The Loft for RM 25 & order a meal which is then prepared by Toscani's kitchen. You actually pay separately for the beer & meal. The meal I had was Garlic bread plus fish & chips & the fish was as fresh as could be. The tartare sauce was delicious as were the chips. The garlic bread came with a small dish of olive oil with a touch of balsamic vinegar added which just made it perfect for my tired old soul. The place was not as busy as its neighbours but that may have been due to a group near me who were smoking cigars, the smell of which permeated the surrounding area. Fortunately I did not allow this to detract from a pleasant experience. As the waterfront is prime real estate you would expect to pay a little more but it is well worth the little extra.

The rooms were really nice and clean just like the shared spaces. Great location to stay as it is not on a busy road but when you walk just a few minutes you can find plenty of nice shops and restaurants. There also was a supermarket 2 minute walk from the hostel which was really nice! The hostel was perfect for a big group but I positive it being great for smaller groups too.
