For the value this is amazing and far superior than the budget hotel brands that to be fair aren’t budget anymore. Oth rooms were well appointed and spotlessly clean. There were nice touches like a chocolate on the pillow and ample tea making etc and eve better 2 packs of biscuits. The beds were amazingly comfortable but the room was a little hot so we slept with the window open. The owner was available on site and was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was really good but the dining room was small so you may have to wait during busy times but they are extending the dining room that will negate this. You can call a taxi from reception and the taxis are really good and about £7 into Chester. There are ample pubs close by if you want to stay local but we went into Chester. We will definitely be back !!

For our purposes it was ideally located as it was only 5 mins drive away from The Hammond and they let us leave the car there while we walked the 20 mins into the centre while our daughter was at her audition. Room was really stuffy, the double bed filled the room to the point you couldn’t walk around the room. The bathroom was really really small, I started using the bathroom at work before returning back to the lodge. Now my wife thought she’d surprise me so she ended up coming that very night. Which I had no knowledge of, so now I’ve gone to work the next morning and the lady had let herself in the room with her key and scared my wife. The reason for walking into our room unannounced was because this room was booked for one person not two.. honestly speaking I do get it and the same time I don’t get it too. Surely you don’t have to pay extra for sleeping in a bed ? Or maybe she wanted the money for the utilities being used and the TV being ran as well as the wifi being used. So my wife paid £60 extra for 2 nights, you’d think that the unannounced visits would stop, you’d be wrong! This lodge came back in to conversation recently between me and my wife hence why I’m writing a review in September for a place we stayed at back in Feb. My wife said the Lady would carry on walking into the room! Every day! Just casually letting herself in! Fair enough she’s asking my wife if she needed anything but she was disturbing her while she worked. In my opinion there are ways of asking a customer if they needed anything, first idea which comes to mind is knocking on the door before entering because that way the person in the room has a chance to be presentable and not be startled. Honestly as a guy I want to protect my loved ones, hearing about this lodge and my wife’s experience honestly makes my blood boil! We pay for the room yet the lady can act like she owns the room and can do what ever she likes. For the sake of the lodge I think she needs to go some sort of hotel management course and learn a thing or two about hospitality. I ended up staying 3 months in Chester at a places called George and dragon pub, you have a carpark, separate entrance to the pub entrance with spacious rooms and really good and kind service! Avoid Kilmorey lodge at all costs! Save your money and go elsewhere

The constant snoring and.... singing... yes singing at like half 6 from below was just lovely💀 The dog barking at the early hours, whom i think is the owners really topped off the early morning audio. Apart form this the room was a box room and not as advertised. The shower had 0 pressure and 2 settings. Either 1st degree burns or ice cold. Positives the biscoff biscuits were nice with my coffee. Not sure if they were home baked if so i would recommend asking for the recipe. Joking aside it was a shambles.

It was easy to find and space to park. We were in room 1, which was lovely. The beds (a double and a single) were comfy, with plenty of pillows. The room was decorated to a high standard. Plenty of tea/coffee etc. The bathroom was clean too. All was great. The owner was friendly and helpful too - recommending places to eat and visit. After travelling down country lanes to visit Chester, we found the car had a flat tyre on our last morning, but the owner made sure we were OK, as well as saying we could stay in the room as long as needed. After checking in, we headed back down for drinks (very reasonably priced) and some food. The food was absolutely beautiful – cooked to perfection, presented with care, and tasted amazing. We loved it so much we went back for food two days in a row! The vibe of the bar is second to none, and meeting the lovely owner really showed how much passion goes into the place. We even got to meet her two gorgeous French bulldogs, which was a bonus as we have one at home too. An amazing rock bar with a brilliant atmosphere, great food, and unique rooms. When we’re next in Chester, we’ll 100% be staying at The Saddle Inn again.

Good for us, but many not helpful for the other rooms if they were a bit cool. Lastly, they only change the towels every 3 days, which is fine if you had somewhere to hang ghem when used/wet. There are no hooks in the bathroom (or bedroom) to hang then or a dressing gown if you had one. A real oversight that is easy and cheap to fix. One bonus item was the provision of a bar fridge with fresh milk. Nice touch for coffee/tea drinkers

The rooms were incredibly luxurious and spacious with lots of care and attention paid to them. Bed was incredibly comfy - we didn't want to ever leave! We arrived slightly early and enjoyed some time around the pool and had a massage (pre booked). Upon check in we were given a beautiful surprise and upgraded from a junior suite to a master suite, we stayed in room 1 and were blown away! The views over the gardens to the front were amazing. This one is ideally situated close to the city centre and overlooking the racecourse. From the outset, the stay was excellent. Parking was simple in the little courtyard (we arrived around 4:30pm on a Saturday) and check-in was quick and easy. We stayed in Room 11, which was spacious, spotless and comfortably warm. The bed was a good size, the TV decent, and there was plenty of storage. The bathroom was modern and well-kept too. If I had to pick faults, the WiFi was very slow – my 5G connection worked far better – and a lot of the TV channels didn’t seem to load. We had drinks outside on the terrace by the river, which was lovely even in October. The private huts are a great idea, though most of the heat lamps could do with a fix. Breakfast in the restaurant the next morning was excellent – everything tasted fresh and well-cooked, and the service from all the staff was friendly and efficient.
