Great location for subway trips, you can get anywhere on the city just by walking a few meters and taking the sub. Room was great, confortable beds, clean bathroom everyday (we got a suite - greatly recommended! But their shared bathrooms were clean all the times we saw them). Staff was amazing, really attentive to our stay there. We really have no cons except to climbing up 3 flights of stairs, but that kept us on shape :) (being in the US right). Pillows could be better but then we didn't ask them any replacements so they couldn't know it during our stay. Really really recommend it to any couples (or solo travellers!) And you are hosted by 4-5 people. It feels luxurious. You may start the dinner as perfect strangers, but you certainly make friends along the experience. And the food is incredible. To answer questions that I had as a guest: Yes, they take the whole payment up front. They will send you check in information the day of your reservation. This freaked me out a little bit because I sent 2 emails in the week leading up and they went unanswered. There is a kitchen, toilet, and separate shower. All were clean enough. The person that owns it, Lawrence, did not communicate, didn't send an email with how to check in, check out, nothing. The only food nearby is a Dunkin Donuts.

My boyfriend and I walked to Yankee Stadium in the AM for Opening Day, so we stayed here the night before. The owner was polite and friendly. Only concern was the rooms cleanliness. I saw some rubbish under the bed. It did not affect us at all it just made me feel as if the room could have been cleaned more thoroughly. My wife was really looking forward to the superb peanut butter cheesecake dessert we enjoyed sooo much on our last visit. However, it was no longer on the menu so she had to settle for the Ultimate Creme Cheesecake, which came with side servings of hot fudge & strawberry sauce. Our fabulous server Randy put a candle on the top of my wife's cheesecake, lit it and encouraged everyone in the restaurant to sing happy birthday, which made her feel special. Whilst we were dining in the restaurant there were 4 other people celebrating their birthdays as well. There's a photographer at the restaurant now, who went around every table taking photographs of customers and returning later trying to sell commemorative prints, which I found a bit tacky and touristy - not something I'd expect at a high end restaurant. The decor in the restaurant looked very tired and we certainly didn't enjoy our meal there this time, compared to our exceptional experience 10 years ago. I feel sadly it's more of a tourist trap now, feeding off the embers of its former glory days, which have long gone. We didn't have any alcoholic drinks with our meal and I left feeling the $100 we spent there could have been better spent in one of the hundreds of exceptional restaurants in NYC for the special occasion of my wife's 60th birthday.

The location on Bryant Park is fantastic. It was so easy to get to many of the locations we were visiting. We also enjoyed a very nice view of Bryant Park from our rooms. We were traveling with our three kids and we were able to get adjoining rooms. They were your typical connecting rooms, but the two rooms had shared entry way which could be separated off and locked from the hallway. The staff were all very friendly when we arrived and engaged the kids in our stay. We would easily stay at The Bryant Park Hotel again. My only critique is that the noises of the city seemed to be a bit louder here than at other hotels. My friend and I chose to stay at the Mount Morris House for it's location and it's obvious old charm. While it was located nicely near Central Park and the room was adorable, spacious and clean, we did have a major issue that we felt needed to be addressed. Entering the home was easy and seamless (entering with a key code) but when we arrived we noticed that we didn't receive a key to our room, the door to our room was unlocked and our names were displayed on the door. We could see that there were several other rooms (approximately 5) in the same stairwell that had names, so other guests were staying in the home along with us. This was expected and totally fine, however, we were not expecting to arrive close to midnight to a dark, unlocked room. We were not informed prior that we were not able to lock our room from the outside. We did not feel comfortable being two female travelers with our names displayed on the door and no way to keep people from entering the room while we were away. We felt that this was a major safety issue for our luggage and for our personal safety if we were to return late at night (there are several closets and places that someone could very easily hide themselves). After emailing Peter with our concerns, he was very responsive and immediately emailed, texted and called me to discuss the issue. He offered to let us vacate the room and receive a refund for the nights that we didn't stay, or he could provide us with the skeleton key for the room but warned that it was very old and if it were to be lost or broken, then it would be extremely expensive to have a specialized locksmith come and replace it. There are hardwood floors and large windows in each room. Ms Michelle is a gracious host. She is kind, on time, helpful, and knows her guests needs. There are two bathrooms and one kitchen. Everything was kept clean and stocked. The location in Brooklyn is very central and it’s easy to walk to shops, restaurants and transportation while still having a strong sense of neighborhood.
