We had a lovely time at Karanji Lake — it’s a peaceful and refreshing spot, perfect for a weekend outing with family or friends.

One of the highlights is the bird enclosure filled with colorful parrots, and the free-roaming peacocks truly steal the show — dancing and walking gracefully around the park.

I recently visited Shukavana in Mysore, a beautiful bird sanctuary that’s completely dedicated to exotic and rescued parrots and other birds. And I have to say it was awesome.
The sanctuary is free to enter, which is incredibly generous and rare these days. You get to see a stunning variety of birds in well-maintained enclosures, and many of them look genuinely happy and active. The place is peaceful, clean, and thoughtfully designed.
To top it off, they also have a bonsai garden which adds to the whole experience. It’s a great place for bird lovers, families, and photographers alike.
💡 But Here's the Catch – Revenue Model Needs Work
While the place is beautiful, I genuinely felt they’re missing out on a solid revenue opportunity that wouldn’t compromise their free-entry policy.
Here’s an idea that could really work:
Entry remains free, but only if you don’t carry a phone or camera inside.
If you want to carry your phone and take photos, charge ₹200.
Want a bird to sit on your hand or shoulder for a photo? Add ₹200 more totally worth it, and many people would love that moment.
This way, casual visitors still get to enjoy the sanctuary for free, while photography enthusiasts and families who want keepsakes are contributing to its maintenance. Everyone wins.

Shukavana is a fantastic initiative with heart. It’s a must-visit if you're in Mysore but they deserve more support, and a better self-sustaining model could make a huge difference in the long run.

I had the privilege of visiting the Mysore Sukhavana Avadhootha Datta Peetham SGS Ashram, and it was a profoundly enriching experience! This sacred ashram is a haven of peace, tranquility, and spiritual growth.

They are kept in either spacious and aesthetically designed cages or are moving free.

The front building is an auditorium which is opened only during some occasions ... The actual art gallery is behind this auditorium. It's a renovated old palace wherein the royals of mysore lived when the old wodden palace got burner down....

There's a whole section of Raja Ravi verma's artwork .... The highest amount of his art in one place in india ? ..... They are soo large and soo soo beautiful ... Completely mesmerizing!!!! Words could not describe how surreal the paintings felt when seen in real life.
There are many other artwork of various artists ... In another floor there's a whole room of wooden structures which are ornatley carved. seating , cupboards and many many more ...very royal in elegance ...
Another room is filled with various objects of royal patronage like corals, royal utensils like glassware and many more
In last floor there's a room filled with board games of olderm times and musical instruments used and preserved by the royal family. The room is completley wallpapered which makes it look soo beautiful.
All in all... The place is heavily underrated as not much crowd was present when we visited ....

One has to get into the University premises to visit the museum. Once reached, it gives a feeling of an abandoned palace but later one realizes that everything is kept inside. It took us 4 hours to complete the walk around the entire Zoo, which included a 30 min break at the cafeteria, just to rest. The food at the cafeteria is primarily south Indian food, which didn't intrigue us much, since we were eating the same for the last couple of days. Make sure you wear the most comfortable shoes if you plan to walk, and carry a bottle, so you can fill it up at the watering stations, which are well spaced out, carry a cap, it's not too hot though cause of all the trees. There is also a buggy option, however they cover the entire Zoo in an hour and you don't get time to spend at each exhibit, it's a quick tour. The zoo doesn't permit plastics, or outside food, they check the bags at the entrance post buying your tickets.

We booked the day Taxi from Mysuru, at the last moment, to take us around Shri Chennaswamy Temple -Somnathpur, Royal Palace and Lighting around city on account of Dusherah at night.
Though Sharad (owner) is a tough negotiater, the car that arrived was beyond our expectation. Impeccably clean with a perfectly mannered driver - Prakash, who was with us through the day.
We have a little different taste while touring, and took extra time at the temple and the palace. And they took us around nicely.

Had a very disappointing experience with Al Arz Car Rental Service. I booked a car one week in advance after seeing their photo of the car that I have booked and paid the advance amount also they have confirmed the booking as well. My booking was scheduled for 12:30 PM, and they asked me to come to a location. After waiting for over an hour, they finally brought a car that was nowhere close to what was shown or the car which i have booked. The condition was extremely poor and unacceptabe and door mat of the car is sticky and smelling very bad, and on the outside full of dent and scratches. When I raised this, they gave excuses and said they would clean it. I waited another hour and at 2:00 PM they brought back the same car, still dirty, with a foul smell inside, making it impossible to even sit in also on the back they have loded with old tyres and because of that I was not able to keep even one small suitcase.
When I questioned further, their response was very unprofessional, saying, “You are not buying the car, only driving it.” The car was clearly not roadworthy or fit for rental. After several requests, they reluctantly said they would arrange another car, but even that took another hour. To make matters worse, they threatened that if I didn’t take the car, my advance would not be refunded. At that point, I decided not to proceed further with them and instead booked with another vendor. Finally they have never return the advance money as well.
Overall, this was the worst car rental experience I have had in my lifetime . Extremely unprofessional service, poor quality cars and lack of honesty. Want to rate it 0 but no option for that. I would strongly advise others to avoid Al Arz Car Rental Service.

When we arrived to collect the cars the next morning around 7 am, we were appalled by their condition. Somehow, I managed to take photos of one of the cars, but I wasn't allowed to click photos to the other one. The other car was in extremely poor condition, both inside and out. The other car is Toyota and cars tyres are very big which are re modelled and fitted to this car.
We asked for a refund of our advance, but they refused. We had to involve the local police due to their behavior. Eventually, they returned half of the advance. This experience forced us to alter our travel plans to Coorg. Do not trust this company based on the exterior appearance of their cars. To avoid being cheated, insist on a video call to check both the exterior and interior conditions of the car. However, even this won't guarantee the car's running condition. Also, be prepared to lose your advance payment, as they are unlikely to refund it, regardless of whether you reject or take the car.

Absolutely Horrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs!
This was the worst car rental experience I’ve ever had. The vehicle they gave us broke down right in the middle of Ooty — the battery was completely dead, and we were stranded in an unfamiliar place with zero support from the rental agency. Imagine being stuck on hilly roads with no help in sight — completely unacceptable.
To make things worse, the car had no working horn. Let that sink in. Driving around Ooty’s narrow, winding roads without a horn is not only inconvenient, it’s downright dangerous. I genuinely feared for our safety throughout the trip.
As if that wasn’t enough, they had the audacity to deduct extra fuel charges from my security deposit, even though I returned the car exactly as agreed. No explanation, no transparency — just shady practices.
This company has no regard for safety, customer service, or basic honesty. If you value your time, money, and life, do NOT rent from them. Completely unreliable and unprofessional

Found them through justdial and communicated via WhatsApp. 5K advance and Adhar Card + duplicate DL needs to handover to get the car.
Note:- Make sure that you tell the date and time of pickup and drop exactly, and get the complete price, communicate proper and there won’t be any delay of minutes or confusion in amounts. Everything was smooth in my case.
Pros:-
1. Very fast and respectful response
2. They won’t promise if there’s no availability but they will make sure you’ll get the car you’re asked for if there’s even a slight a possibility.
3. Once you’re at the place you’ll get the car very fast, no more waiting like Zoomcar pickup.
4. It’s a private one and easy for interstate travel.
5. You’ll get the car for very short term even for couple of days also.

I took a maruthi Brezza from Sathish. It's a family trip of 5 members. After paying advance Honestly I was little bit worried and thinking about reverting this decision due to some negative reviews.
Sathish delivered me vehicle in Mysore Station. There was very little 15 mins delay but that was completely acceptable since he conveyed it before.
I rode around 745 KM in Chikmagalur Hills(one of the picture attached is mullayanagiri peak) and it was completely a pleasant ride.
Once I reached back he came ontime to pick vehicle and returned the advance without asking anything. Whatelse you expect ? Some people in this review says he is rude. Seriously? He was so humble.
As a self drive passionate we need to understand few things
1. Treat like your own car.
2. Communicate clearly on the expectation.
3. If u find any problem do inform him immediately and get advice from him before doing anything on your own.
4. Follow the rules
5. Be Humble.
