This store is a jewellery/ interiors/ accessories shop. The owner is a jewellery designer who creates the wonderful, unique pieces using items from Africa and Asia and goodness knows where. She also designs wonderful bags and purses using materials she imports from those regions. The perfumes are French, the oils range from Argan to Olive and coconut and the soaps are imported from countries and are exotic and pure. My favourite items to buy here apart from the jewellery are the scarfs! This must be the scarf capital of Cornwall, they have a gorgeous collection of scarfs for every season in stunning colours and materials. In the winter I buy the Danish ones for warmth and in the summer those made from shear fabrics in stunning bright colours. I’m so thrilled we have this store in the town, stocking fabulous items from around the world and the designs of Elspeth Walker. The shop is owned by John Bedding, a potter with fantastic antecedents having worked at the Leach pottery over several years and….. all over the world. We parked at The Island car park and made the short walk down to Porthgwidden beach, which was practically abandoned on a sunny but windy Tuesday morning. We'd toyed with the idea of booking a wildlife boat tour out to seal island, but had decided not to. To our surprise, within 10 seconds of arriving on the beach, we had a seal playing in the waves just feet away from us! The beach really is a hidden gem. Just to point out, my young daughter who had limited cash on her for the day had hardly any cash left to buy an alternative and had no lunch to eat from your shop having being given the wrong product and refused a refund! The attitude of the lady was so bad my daughter walked away from the woman whilst she was still ranting on. At the end of the day customer service should be key in any business, let alone in a small private business where you are depending on holiday visitors to St Ives to keep your business going??? Walked away to Porthgwidden Beach to eat them. The vegetables in the pasty were not cooked through and we’re almost crispy yet the steak WAS cooked and tender. This would suggest that the pasty is NOT a traditional ‘Cornish Pasty’ which should have the meat and the vegetables cooked inside the pastry case together. The meat was precooked and added with the raw vegetables and then baked, obviously not long enough! As they were not enjoyable with the undercooked veg we stopped eating them and returned. My goodness, the staff were so rude, arguing with us that the pasty’s were cooked okay. As if anyone would walk back and return their lunch if it was at all enjoyable and eatable. The rude lady only agreed to refund one of the pasty’s. I’m still waiting for the refund to appear, if it doesn't, I will be back. Avoid this place, especially after reading the others negative reviews.
