At the time, a hairdryer was running, so we did not hear the initial knock. I understand the hotel’s protocols for entering rooms, but I strongly believe that if staff can clearly hear a hairdryer or similar noise, they should apply common sense. Such a sound could easily mean a guest has just come out of the bathroom and may be undressed. In that case, returning later would be far more appropriate and respectful. The on-duty manager did an okay job addressing the complaint, reviewing CCTV footage and going over policies with staff. However, communication between him and the cleaner was poor, and we were given multiple, inconsistent stories and excuses in what felt like an attempt to smooth things over. While RR was working in the day I had such fun exploring both the hotel and Newcastle. Newcastle is a stunning city and no matter how often you visit there is always something new to see. Even when he actually lived in Washington we still visited Newcastle for nights away to explore together. So if you're unsure as to visit Newcastle then do - it can be very romantic ! I love how close to the train station the hotel is too - just around the corner, a 8 minutes walk with a suitcase. The hotel is gorgeous. We stayed as usual in the rooms that allow you access to the lounge and the lady in there while we were there was so happy to help with everything. I am gluten free and Sally went out of her way to find me some lovely gluten free treats on every visit. When you have allergies it is always concerning when eating out so to find someone so conscientious is wonderful. The rooms were beautiful as usual, the restaurant and the bar food were brilliant , all members of staff were lovely and helpful. I can not complain about anything. I look forward to visiting again soon.

We booked a junior suite with club lounge access for 2 nights. Booked weeks in advance as an"ihg" member which stands for nothing as the closer it got the price reduced although it was booked on an early saving rate. The suite was ok nothing spectacular and lacked lighting with just a lamp in the lounge part and 2 bedside lights in the bedroom. The balcony had no seating, ye I get it's October but the day was lovely and might have been nice to sit out there as shown in the pictures of the room on the website. Both nights we were woken by noisy guests, I understand this is out of control of the hotel but the walls are obviously paper thin. Early on the Saturday morning there was a van across from the hotel throwing metal sheeting into a skip so constant banging, again not the hotels fault but doesn't say much for the sound proofing of the windows. We tried to use the "spa" facilities as this was one of the main reasons we chose the hotel but had to wait on a list and when we did get in there was no seating and ended up stood in the pool waiting for the jacuzzi and sauna. We ended up giving up and just returned to our room. We tried again the next morning to again be told it was full, after waiting 40 minutes we gave up as it seemed pointless to go in and be in the same position as the day before. On check out we asked to pay for parking and were advised we would have to pay at the machine as they had no vouchers so had to pay the full price. Not a massive deal but why advertise reduced parking if they can't honour it. Went for a relaxing break and come home more tired than before we went. So if you're looking for a relaxing weekend away this is not the place for you.

Hotel itself is modern and well-located for station, although it’s a shame there’s no access from this side of the tracks. Short walk to Bigg Market and Grey Street for food. Last time I stayed I found the hotel better than this - on this occasion, check in was good, very quick and efficient, but the room seemed a little tired, which it odd as it’s not that old. The room itself was actually a small suite, although it didn’t really seem to know what it wanted to be. I suspect what we have here is some random space at the end of a corridor which needed a use. The lounge was large, but with little furniture and very few lights. The bedroom was like a standard bedroom. I wouldn’t choose to book this type of room - I don’t really know what to do with the lounge bit, so just a bedroom is fine. You could see the station platforms from the room. I sleep deeply, so the trains didn’t disturb me, but something to bear in mind if you don’t. Hotel has a decent 24 hour gym in the basement - I liked this. A couple of good treadmills on there. There is apparently a (black-tiled?) pool as well, but there are strange signs in the lift which suggest this is likely to be unpleasantly busy. The quayside is beautiful and this hotel has the lovely Millennium Bridge on its doorstep with great views of the Tyne. The only thing I don't recommend is the restaurant on the 2nd floor. For breakfast I highly recommend going to the cafe on the 1st floor. The food and snacks there are great and prices are much better.

The staff were lovely. The room was very out dated, and dark. The only lights in the room were lamps next to the bed. All of the plug sockets were weird and couldnt even use a phone charger. The bed was uncomfortable. The food was awful, I had the gosforth burger, took a long time to come out, no coleslaw om the plate like the menu said. I had pre booked an early check in for 1 o’clock through the customer service team and the breakfast. The plugs are weird so you can’t really charge anything, our bathrooms were loose but enjoyed the break away. Don’t think we’ll be choosing the venue again. Firstly the hotel is dog friendly, all the staff made a fuss of our pooch which she loved. The rooms are very spacious, with outside areas easily accessible. Secondly, the human guests were super happy with their stay. We were feeling a bit down because we couldn't go to Spain, especially my wife. But the Delta Marriott staff could not do enough to ensure my wife enjoyed herself. They are kind, hospitable and attentive. Very cheerful and friendly. They reminded us of when true customer service was a high priority. Just to add the food is superb, and the bed was extremely comfortable. It’s in a great location — I can literally see the Metrocentre shopping mall from my window, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the river. The staff are incredibly guest-focused, and the whole place is immaculately kept. Spaces are a good size with ample room between cars. At the end of the concert returned with quite a few other concert goers to find chaos at the car park as the pay machines were not functioning properly. The one card only pay machine was not functioning, the other two would only take coins, some people who used notes not only didn’t they get their parking paid, they didn’t get change or the notes back. The displayed helpline was contacted and offered no assistance, the one unfortunate security guard was trying to help but as most people didn’t have coins and expect to be able to pay contactless, he was dealing with more frustrated people. The room was fantastic and the views amazing. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the shower lovely and powerful. In short, i should walked further! I maybhave had a few drinks, but i did notice the staff member asking me for £12 for a £10.50 mixed shawarma (which i read back to him off the menu in full including the number which was item 40 btw) They saidbthere wasnt any lamb left, so fair enough, i just had chicken. Breakfast was chaotic. When asked if we had had breakfast here before, we replied no, and were then promptly abandoned at a table with no further explanation, which left me wondering what the point of asking the question was. I was told the occupant was ‘with the jazz festival’. So was I, but nowhere on the itinerary was music played over a sound system in a hotel room in the small hours included. After the second night of no sleep due to music from the room above, I was eventually offered a new room, but only after being spoken to by the receptionist in a patronising and hostile manner, telling me this was the first they had heard of noise and that I had not in fact complained the day before. Seen as it was her who’d made the jazz festival comment, this was a bizarre lie. We were of course offered absolutely no assistance in moving all of our things up to the new room. In the first room, I had to ask for more coat hangers, as apparently 4 coat hangers for two adults staying for 4 nights was deemed to be enough. Clearly nobody had done the basic maths. The rooms are incredibly poor quality, so sparsely furnished that they echo, and there is very poor soundproofing for a relatively new hotel. The new room was supposedly a better quality room, however, the bedside table was so broken the side of it was hanging off, and the cover on both sides of the bathroom door handle was hanging off. (Photos attached). And the toilet did not flush! I would have thought it was standard practise to check a room, particularly when moving someone to it after a complaint, but clearly not. Reception is, as standard, unmanned. So your options are to stand around looking like a lemon waiting for someone, or desperately catch a non-reception member of staff and ask if they can find someone for you. The only possible use I can think of for this hotel is as a work experience trip for those studying hospitality, to learn exactly what not to do.

It's an amazing attraction and lots of history to be learnt. The staff on reception were so welcoming. The therapist who carried out my treatment was extremely professional, explaining how the treatment would work and what to expect. The set up from when you arrive to when you leave cannot be faulted. The rooms are that of a 5 star hotel, the golf is incredible with both courses being so different and interesting. Both courses are excellent but the Colt takes the biscuit. The layout, fairways and greens were superb. All staff were dutiful and pleasant. The golf shop staff and hotel reception were obliging and efficient. All the ground staff were busy keeping the course shipshape, and they quit cutting and strimming when we were nearby. Vicki, Ava and Dave served us in the bar and restaurant. They were very pleasant and communicative. Vicki made it all look easy, changes to meals, drinks and banter. Thank you. Nothing was too much trouble. We even got a lift to the Metro and advice where to go in the city. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Large shower in bathroom, all toiletries supplied, including a toothbrush and travel toothpaste. Breakfast was a choice of cereals, continental and Full English cooked as you like and to order. Waitress Alisha was very helpful and friendly. Location is only 10 mins drive from the City. Metro 17 mins walk from Hotel, and 5 stops from City Center and an Uber is only £10 to or from the City. We booked for our minimoon and couldn’t have picked anywhere more perfect to chill out and soak it all in.
