The venue is superb, based in a delightful location and with great facilities. The spa is outstanding with a great pool, steam room and outside hot tubs. The food was of a high standard and beautifully presented. The rooms were luxurious with all the amenities that you’d expect from a hotel of this standard and like the rest of the hotel scrupulously clean. Finally the best part of the hotel were the staff. We popped into the restaurant for some breakfast but didn’t want anything too heavy as we were due to have a late lunch in the spa. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and we felt very looked after. The spa itself was wonderful, the treatments were relaxing and the therapists took great care of us. The spa facilities were lovely, we had a sunny day so we were able to enjoy the hot tubs outside, with a glass of Prosecco. Lunch options were plenty and the food was delicious, again we were able to enjoy this outside due to the weather. All in all, we had a lovely day and will be returning! I can’t speak for the rooms, as we didn’t stay but the hotel itself was beautiful, the restaurant had lovely views over the fields and there is plenty of parking.

The staff are consistently very helpful and understanding and the facilities for families are just right. You get a session per day in The Den, where brilliant and qualified carers will look after your kids for a couple of hours, so you have a break from parenting. The spa is right next door to The Den, so you can drop your kids off and get a full two hours of relaxation there per day. (If you want any treatments or a massage, though, I'd advise booking that in advance.) The spa is great, with a pool, outdoor hot-tubs, sauna, etc. and lovely views across the fields where horses are running around. My kids worked out quite quickly that the best toys, games and activities for them were in The Den, so were very happy to go there when we dropped them off. The food is also great: there's an informal restaurant area which is great for eating with young kids, and a more formal restaurant area which we preferred going after they're in bed. (You can borrow Leap Frog video monitors from reception so you can keep an eye on them when you're down in the restaurant - they work on the hotel wifi so range isn't a consideration.) There is much to do in the local area as well; we particularly enjoyed renting bikes and exploring the New Forest a bit. Lacklustre greeting, could barely lift their head up from their PC to welcome us. The thing is, this place isn’t exactly cheap. Having stayed in the likes of the Grove, I believe part of the same company, shame they don’t seem to offer the same level of training for this hotel. No one mentioned what time breakfast was served or where, didn’t ask if we knew the New Forest, which we do, but that’s not the point. We were also informed at the bar that the hot water pipe had burst. The manager said someone was coming to fix it. I said and if it’s not fixed what’s the back up plan, she said we don’t have one, you’ll have to shower in the spa. Coffee machine makes cold coffee, which must be taken from the shower as that only “spat out” boiling water. Children screaming and running around from 6am until 9pm to the point where I had to go outside my room, and tell them to stop. Totally get it’s a family hotel, but people are paying to relax and chill and we don’t expect playground antics outside all the bedrooms.(and we have children but wouldn’t allow this kind of behaviour) Had a spa treatment, not so much as offered a glass of water on entering, and the massage was at best 4/10 and I have weekly massages so I’m not new to them. The girl who seemed very nice and sweet was very robotic, my advice, she needs more training and role playing to adapt to dealing with different customer scenarios and don’t treat everyone the same. I’ve got to say I’m highly disappointed with the entire experience. We most definitely won’t be back to this hotel although we do come to the new forest every 6 months.

We have previously stayed at moonfleet and the room was much cleaner and bigger. The changing mat provided had poo on it which I had to clean off, there was dust all over the room, the side of the sink was flirty etc Facilities as the previous reviews are great such as the spa and the Den. At the restaurants high chairs and baby seats are available, although they could definitely do with more as there were a few occasions families were waiting for one to be made available. Similarly where the website states bugaboo pram is available...you can't actually reserve it, so there is no guarantee you arrive and there will be one available for you - which means you have to bring your pram anyway! Breakfast options were great although on a fair few occasions for our coffee and hot breakfast orders were incorrect...which left us waiting. Very strange on the our last day were seated elsewhere without explanation( and can I add isolated too) which meant we had to keep getting up to call someone and come down for the food. Vegetarian options for dinner is limited, basically just burger which is £22, rather steep! Plus meant we had to leave the hotel to rush back for the activities in the evening for our daughter and feed time for our son! Lastly we went for our 10th anniversary, however, not even one staff member acknowledged this despite me seeing this on their paper ( not asking for flowers, chocolates etc just acknowledgement) where as I noticed others coming for birthdays etc were....so not sure why we were not! We made the most of it and our daughter really enjoyed herself, it's a great place for kids!

The hotel is in a wonderful location. Very easy central access to the whole new forest with walks on the doorstep (albeit a short drive away). The town of brockenhurst is very nearby and walkable with restaurants and shops. The hotel itself looks wonderful and picturesque. The lobby and all restaurant areas are decorated to a high standard. The rooms felt modern and comfortable, with the exception of the bathroom which was ever so slightly dated and could've felt more high end in keeping with the rest of the room. The spa facilities were great, and well managed. The treatments were of excellent standard and well delivered. The restaurants were excellent, both serving great food and exceptional service with a good variety of choices. Would most definitely stay again!

The hotel is quite tired now, and has an 80s motel feel where the rooms are, with the old central part being more country feel. Our garden room was a little shabby, e.g. black mould on the bathroom tiles, paint wearing off the furniture. The spa is ok, again, quite tired and small, for example, only 2 people can fit in the sauna at a time. What makes the hotel though are the staff. The service was impeccable, in particular the staff managing the busy breakfast service. In addition, they are one of the best hotels Ive come across for catering for gluten free, with a wide variety of choice at breakfast and at the Zen restaurant for dinner.

We chose to do afternoon tea and a 60minute treatment for two separately. Afternoon tea was delicious and Kseniia looked after us wonderfully! Our 60 minute massages were with Tida and Onsri who were two women who can work miracles. We left floating as our bodies had been taken to heaven and back again within the 60 minutes. The hotel itself is having renovations and it’s not easy to navigate where reception is if it’s your first visit. Toilets are currently vacant hotel rooms with men and women using different number rooms. The spa will do blue light discount but the website doesn’t explain this so call them and book on the phone. They do charge extra if you want to use the hydrotherapy area, but we were aware of this in advance and thought that was fair enough. The hot stone massage was possibly the best I've had. The dry sauna and steam were excellent in terms of space and heat. The changing room facilities were nice but just expected a little more, example better quality facilities for hairstyling and better/more modern lockers, many of which didn't work or got stuck. There's also only a couple of changing cubicles and no additional area to pop bag and change (couple of padded corner spots only). The changing rooms were also incredibly warm. The variety of hydrotherapy areas was as described but would have expected the outdoor hot tub water to be a lot warmer. Lunch was nice but Breakfast was somewhat underwhelming. Staff/service was very good and the grounds are beautiful.

When I contacted Chewton Glen spa they were booked to, but offered me day passes for the spa facilities which was perfect and gave us exactly what I asked for. The night before our visit I realised I had booked the wrong weekend which was a disaster for me as I had by then told my girlfriend the plan and organised child care. In desperation and hoping not to be in the dog house for the remainder of the year, I called Chewton Glen in the hope they could move the day for me. I spoke to the night staff, who where incredibly helpful and by 6:30am the following morning my bacon was well and truly saved. That's incredible service in my eyes. The day was amazing, food was fantastic, staff were all wonderful and facilities fantastic. A big thank you to all the staff of Chewton Glen for helping me to give my girlfriend a wonderful birthday we will not forget.

A couple of dozen pasta and potato balls in a creamy pepper sauce with one crispy sage leaf being sold for £38 was a level of upscale inflation that I would have been embarrassed to serve at home for free. What made the occasion was the ambience and location - what was a complete let down the expectations we had for a Hartnett & Holder food experience - not bad, not exceptional but simply good - not so for the charges applied way beyond the underwhelming nature of the food. The staff are wonderful and cannot do enough for you. The rooms are perfect with extremely comfortable beds and absolute luxurious bathrooms and products. It's honestly become our place of salvation; a place for bonding and reconnecting as a family again after the rough and tumble of normal, everyday, crazy life 😵‍💫. My family and I have stayed several times at this lovely hotel. An adult only holiday break. Our last stay was August 17th for three nights and I have been meaning to write this review for a while. It's a beautifully designed hotel with such attention to detail. It's comfortable and homely yet funky and fashionable with gorgeous fixtures and fittings. I know a good pooky light and bathroom tap when i see one ;). The beds and bedding are also top notch (so important). There's a tea and coffee station in the room with New Forest short bread (a lovely touch) and fresh milk delivered to your door every morning. The 'Natural' bath products with no nasties (shower gel, lotion and conditioner) are very well received and I personally believe what health conscious people prefer nowadays. The building is wonderful and deceivingly set back and vast with lovely courtyard spacious gardens and plenty of seating and attractive sun brollies for shade. When we were there there was live music for our coffee and sundowners. Very good cocktails incidently - we heard that ours were made by the flat mate of a member of staff. He made a stonkingly good strong margarita and espresso martinis. We could have all been abroad with the summer vibes it all evoked. Holiday mode activated instantly. What really makes Stanwell House exceptionally good are the staff. A hotel will grind to a holt without a good team. It doesn't help that I am quite awful at remembering names but we are now on first name terms with Amy, Jill and Dan at reception. They are always a joy and we know how hard they work. The reception team are personable, kind courteous and professional and always help my family if they can. We've driven Jill and Amy mad on several occasions trying to work out our dates to stay when all our family can make it. They never dissapoint to help us. Thank you! The restaurant and bar staff also work very hard indeed to run a smooth ship. Again, I wish I could remember the names of each lovely member of staff. On the last day of my stay I made a note of Courtney and Maks; two lovely staff who were working the breakfast shift together. Thank you Courtney for remembering my black iced coffee each day. SH does excellent strong coffee BTW for all the coffee lovers out there. The food at Stanwell House is also very good indeed. The Sunday roast was amazing! Everything was just exceptional - the meat, the veg and especially THE GRAVY, which was just out of this world. Likewise, the crumble (apple, rhubarb and quince I think) was innovative and delicious, and the breakfast was gorgeous - great, tasty, locally sourced ingredients. For our stay, the staff were all so friendly and helpful and our room was fantastic. One word of warning - no food available at all on a Sunday evening after 7:30pm at The Bell or the pub over the road, so if staying on a Sunday night (and have had a big Sunday lunch so can't eat early, like us!) be prepared to bring provisions or have crisps at the bar! But we had a fabulous time in a fabulous part of the world and I'm sure we will be back to The Bell soon!!

Firstly, there was not enough staff on reception, meaning they never picked up the phone. Nb. The staff were very nice, so this is not a dig at them - they were absolutely run off their feet. Beautiful surroundings in the picturesque village of Burley, great location with the sounds of the New Forest all around. The period property is well maintained, my room was on the top floor with stunning views over the deer park. The food and drinks were great quality and value. Booked in for breakfast at 7.30, very quiet at that time off day with a great selection of breakfast fare. The gardens are extensive with lots of places to relax. The staff were fantastic at every point and very accommodating. We were placed in a room on the 1st floor and it was very thoughtful to have a gift pack for our dog in the room, which shows how dog friendly the hotel is. The room was getting a little tired, with a blind that didn't go back up and some flaking paint, but much to be expected in an old hotel. Good teas and coffee were provided. The best part is of course the manicured gardens, with deer and snuffling pigs roaming the grounds. The three-course meal options for dinner were excellent, including plenty of veggie options. The warm brioche bread with garlic and onion butter was an easy 10/10, alongside the sage and butternut squash gnocchi. Sadly the starters were not very exciting and the same with the macaroni cheese. The gin and wine recommendations were spot on and we appreciated the Hotel Manager's suggestions. The night's sleep was decent, although if you are near the stairway, you do hear a fair bit of passing traffic. Despite there being a wedding party at the hotel, we couldn't hear anything. Breakfast was included and had a good selection - both hot and cold. It was great to be able to bring your dog with you (in the conservatory). Would recommend if you are in the New Forest as a couple seeking somewhere special to stay.

My wife and I attended our nephews wedding, which in the main seemed to run smoothly to us. Sadly it felt a little understaffed, especially when there was only one young lady serving at the bar in the barn where the function was being held and many guests waiting to be served. The two rather fat rats we saw, did not set off a great impression either as they scurried around the back area searching scraps to eat, clearly hygiene and pest control could do with a review. The most unfortunate part of the whole day though was when one of the young gentlemen, who was worse for wear from his evening drinking was being asked to leave the premises by the manager due to his unacceptable behaviour. I personally felt the manager was well within his rights as the young man was presenting himself in a very aggressive manner. As a more mature member of the group and a teatotal chap my entire life, it felt very uncomfortable to be spoken to by the manager the way he did, his approach was quite standoffish and unprofessional. As I was attempting to assist him in guiding the young man away from the premises he felt it necessary to hang around very close by and pressure the situation with hurrying me along, he also felt it was important to remind me that he didn’t want the bride and grooms event to be ruined. A little thoughtless when I’d already told him the groom was my nephew. The service was excellent, the food seriously delicious and the rooms spacious with wonderful views of the grounds. The only issue was the bathroom and showers which weren't powerful. We are used to power showers of moderate intensity and these were weak. Opted for a bath but it took ages to fill as there wasnt any power through the taps either. No bubble bath provided. The reception did offer to help with the shower but we were only staying the one night. But the two double rooms we booked both had issues with the shower being weak. That's why we haven't given 5 stars but its such a beautiful place that we will be back. Lovely touches in the room too.

All I can say is wow! We have stayed at a few ‘Away Resorts’ locations and this is by far the best one we have come by. We booked a 10berth for my 30th birthday, just my partner and I. It was lovely, spotlessly clean. Beds a little hard for my liking but you can’t please everyone! A special mention to cleaners Verity & Thistlebe for making our stay so lovely and clean. We were really pleased and shocked at the little things, I.e towels folded nicely, prosecco on arrival, mirrors absolutely spotless. Also a shout out to Karen in guest services, she has been faultless through and through with helping us! She has been so polite and efficient. Infact, all of the staff we have come across have been lovely & friendly. Entertainment not great for us as we are 2 adults and there is a lot of kids stuff on, so would’ve been nice for more adult entertainment. The arcades were great and clean and again, helpful staff in there. Food at the Woodside Inn was brilliant although pricey. Lovely location for us to be able to walk the dogs being right near the Forest. All in all, I would definitely stay at Sandy Balls again and we are thoroughly enjoying our stay! Thank you!

Missing remote for bedroom tv - we didn’t need it but others might want to. 2. Frying pan was very old and needs replacing - we never used it. 3. Few of the kitchen kick boards were loose. 4. Drawer top completely loose in spare room. A bit of a touch up on these jobs and replacing kitchen items would make it a 5 star. We used the pool which wasn’t heated and I would suggest bringing flip flops as the changing rooms are very wet…also no where to change except 3 changing rooms - otherwise you have to hold your clothes or change next to your locker. Sauna doesn’t get hot either. For a 3 star resort, I would say it exceeds expectations and you get what you pay for. We will however stay again as it was worth the money, had stuff to do for our toddler and it was a great location.

The front door was unsecured and the patio door handle was hanging off. They said they would send someone down to hoover and they never came. The filters were disgusting. Sofas and carpets were grubby. Very very tired and unsecure lodge and not safe at all. Staff in the complex were fantastic, the staff in guest services however seemed to think it was funny when we decided to check out a day early and my husband saying the stay wasn’t not good or comfortable. However we were allocated a beautiful lodge (7 The Glades). It had allocated parking for 2 cars, even an electric car charger point! The plaza area was beautifully decorated for the upcoming season and looked really nice. Our hot tub dropped a few degrees while we were in it one night but the nice guy who checks them turned the temperature up the next day and all was ok. The park is in a great location for visiting various places around and driving through the New Forest is just something spectacular!! On arrival to our Zen lodge we were provided with a travel cot that was broken. I called reception for a new one but it never arrived. Later I told them not to bother, the receptionist apologised and told me I would be refunded but this never happened. For the first night we had no heating, again called reception for help and was told someone would assist. The next morning someone did turn up meaning myself, my wife and my 2 year old spent the night sleeping in our coats to stay warm. It turns out the boiler had been turned off.... There was a damp smell in the bathroom but he couldn't smell it... We had a hot tub but with no privacy and the wicker fence was just hanging on. I also found it really odd giving the amount we paid the room has no wifi, We went for a quick bite to eat in the pub on site, the food arrived in less than 5 minutes clearly microwaved or left on the side, it wasn't cheap. The actual restaurant is really good, lots of choice and the food tasted freshly cooked. Sadly we decided to call it and leave a day early with colds. I chose Sandy Balls as I went there a lot as a kid and its only down the road from us. Ignoring the Centre Park offers we decided to give it a go. The staff are friendly and if you have a dog the walks are great. The supermarket on site has everything you need. Sadly I didn't think the accommodation was great especially for the cost, for four nights it was £1,400 and we left early so an expensive weekend

Second Edit after response. STILL NO APOLOGY a week later. It is with real sadness that we write this review as we have stayed over 10 times at Sandyballs as a large family group in the last 2 years. We have always been massive fans of the place and the staff. However, this time seemed very very different. Upon arrival( 25 minutes early for a 2:30pm check in ) I was seen by Brenda at Guest services. I don’t think I have ever felt less welcome than I did. In fact I felt like an inconvenience that had just walked through the door. Brenda was cold, and quite frankly very rude. I understood the fact that I had arrived early and our 3 lodges werent quite ready but I didn’t appreciate the lack of a simple friendly/ warm greeting and a smile. Instead I got a roll of the eyes, a very blunt rude “well you shouldn’t be here early, what do you expect” response to a question of if any of our 3 lodges were ready so we could get my 92 year old Father in law in the warm. Brenda tutted at me when I stood and waited by the desk instead of outside. For a front of house staff member, to be the complete opposite of warm and welcoming is beyond me. One of our Knightswood lodges (4) had no heating working for the entire stay. We reported that to guest services and was told they would send someone over on Friday and again on Saturday and still by today( Monday) no one had arrived to fix it. The lodge was cold and felt extremely damp for the whole of our stay. The Balcony areas on both Knightswood lodges 4&2 were unusable on 3 out of the 4 days due to the heavy rain that had entirely soaked the seating area. Whilst we appreciate that the weather can’t be helped and is no fault of the resort, the oversight of not having the covers for the balcony’s available for the guests to use seems rather silly. The poppers are there for those covers for a reason and the covers should be there for such weather conditions. With a family of 13 and 2 big dogs who were celebrating a big birthday, we only had one days use as a family so feel quite disappointed. That extra balcony space really was needed and completely unusable. We spent over £5000 this weekend at Sandy balls and have done that countless times over the last 2 years. Sadly, this will likely be our last due to these issues. On some brighter notes…… A huge shout out to 3 staff members who really were amazing and put smiles on all of our faces. Lauren, the amazing entertainment lady. She is brilliant for not only the kids, but us adults too. A breath of fresh air with a brilliant, fun personality. The Hotel was quite grand and spacious. The Bar/Restaurant and side rooms were really good. We had an Accessible Room so the extra space was brilliant. Plenty of staff and hardly any wait for service. Not enough Disabled Parking bays. The room was about 100yds from Reception. Difficult for mobility issues. It was also at a corridor end and corner so alot of foot traffic, noisy guests and access to an outside door used frequently by smokers and dog exercisers. This door slammed loudly. We had to keep our curtains drawn as folk could walk right past it. The first meal in the Bar was a bit of a disaster. My medium steak was raw and my wife's salad was missing items. It was dealt with promptly, two fresh meals served and these were perfect.

I can't really comment on club house as in 16 years have never used it! I've just come back after a friends trip and had superior lodge, would I book that again? It's a no... very clean and nice but I felt was too small and luckily there was only 6 of us. 8 would have felt cramped. Kitchen utensils were limited. The hot tub was great, we had an issue one day and after a call they came and fixed literally 10 minutes later. For us the hot tubs are the best at shorefield.as a group we have multiple physical needs and so far most hot tubs are 'sunk' into decking so no steps. This means they are accessible for most. Treehouses and shrubbery are beautiful but hot tub has steps up. I am booked for shrubbery soon and love it for a couple weekend but is pricey for what feels like a hotel room and probably would have been a perfect annexe for the main treehouse accommodation. A big strength of shorefield is the staff. From Booking to maintenance, hot tub staff, they are all wonderful. I have seen a lot of changes over the last 16 years not all great! Surprised to have to pay additional £50 to secure the lodge i want for next booking, used to be able to state a preference but I suppose they are now getting so much larger... Overall shorefield is lovely!

Brilliant location and very comforrable stay. House had everything we needed and more. Hot tub was lovely addition. 1.5 miles to sea by road, ample parking and promenade walk. Also close to the new forest. Used the pool and gym on site which were great. Also the restaurant which had a good choice, were able to take well behaved dogs in seperate section. All staff we saw were very helpful and friendly. Overall would recommend and would go back again.

This is the budget end of the camp but our caravan was clean, very comfortable and reasonably equipped for self catering. You park next to your caravan and it's well located for visiting the area. Lovely wildlife trail round the site which I loved (and gives a feel for the whole site) , and a small fishing lake. We didn't use the pool/ entertainment facilities but ate in the Beachcomber restaurant once, it was nice enough, and the other facilities looked good. On site shop was gift heavy but had most of the things needed, good as supermarkets are some way away. All in all for a reasonably priced holiday location we were very happy with it and would recommend.

The room we had was good and was initially very pleased - even despite a noticeable strong smell of bleach in the bathroom. Overnight however, the bleach smell faded and the bathroom smelt like a sewer and became so bad that we didn't/couldn't use the toilet in the morning and instead used the communal toilets downstairs. Whilst that was frustrating, and I understand that things can go wrong, it was the response to the feedback that was not excusable. We reported it to a lady on reception on check out who seemed completely disinterested in anything other than getting us to pay our bill for dinner the previous night. I asked her to come and see for herself on two occasions but declined. The manager was called but never arrived and a waitress who was acting as duty manager was sent instead, who said the manager would call us - I offered for her to come and see what the complaint was about but she too declined, stating that they "believed us". At this point it was clear they were either aware of the smell or quite simply didn't care. The phone call promised never came. We booked through Expedia, who we were told attempted to contact management on a couple of occasions on our behalf a week or so after, but they too were unable to make any progress. Thankfully Expedia applied some customer service skills and have provided us with compensation but nothing was ever offered by anyone at the hotel by way of any kind of apology or gesture of goodwill.
