We have taken precious food tours and wanted to do the same in Rome. Tiziana was our tour guide for the evening stroll. She was excellent combining local history, recommendations for local cuisine, and customs locals partake in. We started out with apertivos and drinks. Next we headed to taste some local pizza. Afterwards, we headed to dinner at a local restaurant and tried two different pasta dishes with wine. Excellent flavor and freshness of the ingredients. We then walked to a local spot to try some cheeses and wine with more history. We had a short walk to taste deep fried breaded Italian noodles and then suppli. Both were excellent but we were already very full. Lastly, we ended the tour with go course, gelato. The gelato was excellent cause of the the freshness of the ingredients. All staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The location is conveniently located for the central train station, for bus and metro routes. It was a night before I started a group tour - the rooms were clean and the location was good too so my first impressions were positive. The receptionist assured me that I would be staying in my original room for both nights and I definitely would NOT need to check out the next morning or change rooms during my stay. The next day, I spent the day away from the hostel and upon my return to my room I found that all of my belongings from my locker had been removed and the bed striped and remade. I walked to reception to find all of my belongings spread across multiple plastic bags on the floor of the hallway to go behind the reception desk (in complete open access to the public). I asked them why my things had been removed and they said I had “missed check out”. I explained to them that I had checked with reception the previous day and was assured checking out was not required despite starting a tour the next day. After inspection of my bags, I found that they had left my passport easily accessible to everyone, on top of my baggage, as well as all of my flight and travel documents. They had also cut my personal lock (also brand new) off the locker. I do not enjoy leaving a bad review about someone, but the lady at the desk (different to the lady who originally checked me in) was unsympathetic and rude to me despite my obvious distress. I also witnessed multiple people also have issues with checking in, resulting in having to change rooms and checking in and out unnecessarily. I do not recommend this hostel what so ever. The two out of three staff I encountered were rude, disrespectful, unprofessional and unhelpful. I also lost €25 for my lock they cut off and did not offer to reimburse me for as well as money for my cough medicine that was lost. For a hostel on the more expensive side, I was disappointed in the lack of care and service provided.

The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of Rome. We made the MOST DELICIOUS homemade pasta & tirumisu, our favorite meal of our entire trip to Italy. Kevin and his mother were the SWEETEST and kindest hosts. It's located in a farming area outside of Laurantino about 20 minutes from the Colosseum at the end of the Metro B line from Rome. Before I went I did a lot of research on cooking schools before I choose Daniela's. A few of the reasons were she was located close to central Rome, she was very flexible as to what we could accomplish during the class and it could be a one on one class. Plus it was in her own home. Well I couldn't have been happier with my decision. Even before I met her she was very nice and helpful in letting me decide what I wanted to learn to cook. I basically picked my menu with her help and great suggestions. She was also willing to do the shopping for me and only having a cooking lesson. She agreed to concentrate on one type of food instead of a full start to finish menu. We ended up cooking five types of pasta. She had everything ready when I got there including coffee and even a few wine choices for me. The recipes were even printed out on paper for me to review while cooking and also take notes on. We cooked all of the dishes with the freshly bought ingredients as well as herbs from her garden just outside her kitchen door. When they were done we ate in her beautifuly decorated dining room. The hardest part was forcing myself to stop eating each dish as they were served as I knew I had five of them to try. And there was a ton of food. I had such a good time I decided to do a second class where we cooked five second courses two days later. All were excellent. Daniela was so accomodating that she was more than happy to allow a new friend I met in Rome to come by to catch the end of the cooking and enjoy all of the food with us. And there was still a ton left over. Daniela is an excellent cook and an even better teacher. The two classes I took and the time I spent with Daniela was by far one of the highlights of my trip. I would highly recommend attending her cooking school. I can say for sure that when I visit Rome again, attending another class or two will be on the top of my list of things to do!
