I’m a frequenter of the batch brew and couldn’t recommend enough as they have a constant rotation of what is new and interesting. The centre of town feels dominated by huge franchise coffee shops but look around and you'll find indie darlings like Fortitude. I know there are now several Fortitude cafes but it feels and acts indie to me. I also wanted power for my tech and was pleased to see some small one and two people tables inside and some power outlets. The lack of a coffee mug handle may be a safety and accessibility challenge to some, so please take note, but for my arthritis it's a blessing. It means I can wrap my hands comfortably around the cup. You can buy bags of beans here, and I wish I had. I thought I was at carrying capacity at the time but regret being so timid. Looks nice, and seats are comfy enough for us with built in padding. Toastie was great, made with care and a sprinkle of salt with an explosive green hot sauce on the side. Sourdough cookie was light, fluffy, and tasty. Flat white was mild but smooth, though milk control could have been better. No obvious wifi available, and the only power socket I could see appeared to be covered up to prevent use. I had no access to data on my phone which made the lack of wifi more noticeable (I assume for all the concrete/stone). Accessible toilet was clean and reasonably lit (though they'll need to update the emergency alarms as the only one is a cord that reaches a few feet from the ceiling at best, amd would not be reachable from the toilet or floor). As other reviews, I think the biggest let down was a disinterested person taking my order, and my personal bugbear which is a point of sale asking for a tip before I've even got my drinks. If I was in the area, I'd come back and try again. But I wouldn't go out of my way when there are plenty of high quality alternatives in Edinburgh.

I liked being able to see the pastries in the window, in order to decide what you want before going into the tiny store! The staff were really warm and welcoming, and advised on the products they enjoy. I picked up the Hazelnut Pain au Chocolat and a Pain Suisse. Both pastries looked stunning. I decided to save the Pain Suisse for a later day, but ate the Pain au Chocolat shortly after purchasing. This was really tasty! The pastry itself had a nice amount of crunch and squish, though I would have liked a little more crunch. The hazelnut frangipane through the centre was super flavourful and there was just the right amount! The chocolate through the middle was of a good quality but slightly overpowered the hazelnut when consuming both simultaneously. Regardless, this was a very good pastry and I would purchase it again! I'd recommend twelve triangles based on this bake. However, I must note that my friend got the pistachio blackcurrant croissant, and could not taste any pistachio! Update - I heated the Cross Laminated Pain Suisse from frozen - this was absolutely incredible! The filling was a perfect balance of vanilla creme and chocolate chips (which cut the sweeteness perfectly). Even though I had frozen the product, it was still super buttery and I got a good crisp all the way around. One of the best pain suisse I have ever had - highly recommend!

I've never ever had better coffee. The beans are always fresh and roasted to perfection, and you can really taste the difference in every cup. They have ample seating considering the location and have high chairs available for babies. The cinnamon buns was full of flavour and the morning roll tasted so fresh and yummy. Overall it was a good experience and we enjoyed our breakfast there.

We decided to visit around noon for brunch while in aread and we were amazed! The food is very very tasty and you can easily spot that they use freash and good quality ingredients. The only comment/suggestion is that they may need to slightly expand the menu. After couple of times it may start to be repetitive if you don't want to expand on the cakes.
