Pizza sounded good so we packed up and headed on our. Never been to this place before but have driven by many times and have always wanted to check the place out. Didn’t have to wait long; we were seated within 10 minutes upon arrival. Our server was tentative but not overwhelming which is always good. Took our order promptly and the food came out within about 15-20 minutes, all served hot straight from the kitchen. The presentation was good and the taste was also good. In comparison to other pizza parlors we’ve been to, I would give the food about 4/5 stars. The restaurant presentation and cleanliness is an exceptional 5/5. The staff courtesy is also a 5/5. With how popular they were and the high ratings we may have just picked the wrong items on the menu? Next time we will try some of their other options.

I have been to their El Dorado Hills location in the past. This visit did not disappoint. This restaurant has plenty of seating and looks like it can accommodate large parties if needed. The variety of sweets they offer is incredulous. It was hard to choose, especially as I have a major sweet tooth. Their egg rolls are in my opinion, so good. They are ginormous, really crispy, with not the traditional egg roll wrap. A must try, due to its their own spin on egg roll originality.

These are some of the main items we typically order at Mikunis Folsom especially at happy hour and they have always been very well prepared and consistent and service is good. On this visit, service was good, however some of the items were disappointing. The Teri chicken, raw Kaizen oysters, sesame chicken and chicken karaage were good and well prepared. However the tempura green beans and mixed tempura were not prepared well. One side of the tempura green beans, shrimp tempura and beef’s was soft and soggy. The other side was somewhat crisp. It was either they didn’t turn the items over or rotate them in the oil, or didn’t fry them long enough or maybe the oil temp was low. Regardless, it wasn’t the quality we had been used to. We had issues like this before at other Mikuni locations but Folsom has always been good and consistent, which made this really disappointing. It may have been an exception this time. What a great find. Took a bit to get our food then they brought just brought out half our order. Took another good 5 minutes to get the rest. Upon waiting it definitely looked good. I noticed from the outside that the venue is a long, skinny rectangular-shaped place. It took me a second to realize that KJ Curtis Morgan and his booth are located within 6' of the only entrance. The venue does not have a built-in TV so he has a 27" TV mounted high (6' or more) on a stand so that when people enter and walk by they don't block the screen. There is a single speaker box mounted up high in the N/E corner of the room (nearly above him). He uses Karafun software with a $50 monthly subscription so he has all the latest songs available. He does a manual queue system and keeps names in the rotation. He seems to have a decent Mixer board and microphones but I think he purposely sets the music (& mic) volumes low (unlike most KJs who always max out the volumes). I felt like I had to sing at a higher volume to hear myself. I think we had less than 10 total singers (maybe it peaked at 8?). It started off with just 4 including the KJ. The most notable thing about karaoke here is the crowd. Even though most people are not singing, the audience really gets into it. Most of the singers seem to have memorized their songs and face the people when singing. The people are really appreciative of good singing and songs they recognize. Even though the show is short in duration, the crowd can thin out before it even closes at 8pm. I managed to get 5 songs in 2 hours. I would definitely want to come back if I am not working too late and can make it here on time. I deducted 1 star for the small TV screen and low music (and mic) volume.

The spicy chicken deluxe was bomb. We got chick filet sauce, buffalo sauce, and honey mustard. All good. The caramel crumble was too sweet so they switched it for a Oreo shake for free. We got 2 thin crust pizzas. The girl who helped us was kind and put 2 half pizza on different tray as I shared a pizza with my kiddo.
