It is meant to give homesick sailors and Navy service members a sort of relief---that talk of home. But home, our tables at home is really where we taste the best and experience the memorable. I can assure anybody there are more affordable authentic experiences around Summerville area in South Carolina who can serve it, who can nail it, who can provide it without being told of their level. We ordered the 3 little pigs omelette with rye toast and a side order of potatoes. Which I thought$5 for a side of potatoes is a bit much. I was shocked by the looked of the puny omelette. Both the omelette and the potatoes were barely lukewarm. And the potatoes were like they had been sitting in a bowl for quite a while. Jordan took care of it immediately and got us a new omelette that definitely looked way better and was hot but we don’t think there was any cheese in it the second time. She asked the kitchen to put the potatoes in the oven to warm them up. They really needed to make some fresh ones but atleast they were hot. I didn’t take a picture of that serving omelette because I was too busy eating my delicious Crabby grits bowl. Seriously it was one of the best grits bowl I have ever had! I’m not sure how one persons meal can come out so bad and lack luster and the other persons comes out hot and delicious! I do highly recommended the Crabby grits bowl but definitely not the omelette. 3 little pigs omelette - lacking Crabby grit bowl - Delicious Would go back for the Grits bowl only and we would ask for Jordan.

Now service, that was a different story. Our server wasn't friendly nor great. I wish I knew her name to warn future customers but she never told us. The service was great but I wasn’t impressed with food. I thought the place was busy but clean, it was well lit with a bright atmosphere and had a good amount of space. The first thing I found out is they will not poach an egg, they won’t do it as a side or for the Benedict’s on menu, it is on sunny side eggs only. So I agreed to this, I was disappointed in what I received. While my dish was very large the food just was meh. My potatoes were mostly potatoes with a few scattered onions, my egg was fine though not the style I craved and my sauce tasted as though it was not made in house. Now my friends had the shrimp and grits and the corned beef hash, both said they enjoyed their dinner. I loved that they had a mini breakfast sampler for the kids. Also we had mango mimosa which were absolutely delicious. I think that if I do make it back to this place I will aim to try something else as the food I had lacked flavor, but if you are looking for a large meal for a good price it did have that.

This location specifically, is one of the worst Tropical Cafes I have ever been to. It seems like everytime I come here something is always wrong. For one, they are extremely slow. I would say maybe it’s because they’re understaffed which would’ve been more understandable but, they’re not! I noticed the employees at this location just don’t move with any sense of direction or urgency at all & that goes for inside service as well as drive thru. Secondly, the smoothies are never made correctly and taste like nothing. I’m not sure if they’re rushing the blending process or whatever the case is… but I’m always served my smoothie with large chunks of fruits and ice. I have to wait for it to melt to be able to enjoy it and when it does melt down some, it’s not enjoyable anyways because by that point it just taste like water. Absolutely no flavor. I never have this problem with the other tropical smoothie cafes. Even the ones in other states when I travel. ONLY this location in particular sucks. Not to mention if you try and call them for anything like an issue or needing help with something, the phone lines for this store only are disconnected and don’t work. I have tried to call and also email the corporate office to express my concerns about this location but no one has gotten back to me. Mind you this was months ago…. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is great & I love their smoothies and food, I’ve been a customer for years but this store in particular needs an entire new staff. Especially management. What really sucks is this location is in such a convenient spot but sadly I would not recommend going here to anyone. Save yourselves the headache & just avoid this one. The other ones however, are great.
