Ordered a Grilled Salmon with Veloute Sauce, Mushroom soup and hot lemon tea. Food: 2/5 Service: 3/5 Drinks arrived quickly. Food really took a while to arrive. Salmon was really dry and overcooked. It ended up fried. Mashed potatoes was tasteless and dry, not creamy at all. Side vegetables were fresh but tasteless (do salt the water/vege). Mushroom soup was ok-ok. Staff forgot to set cutlery on table earlier and took a while.to bring up cutlery, my food had cooled down by then. Beautiful space but food it what I'm there for. And it was really disappointing. I sat at level 1 as there was a inviting looking sofa. Ordered Sate Cireng, a Sundanese fritter made of sago flour's dipped into a sweet and sticky black sauce. Taste like keropok except it's chewy. Very addictive snack. Ordered Maldives cocktail which is mango and curacao. Nothing to rave about, a sweet drink but it sure looks good for picture haha Atmosphere is spacious and well decorated with good attentive staff. Love their sink putside the restroom. Took some pics of both day and night for comparison. Natural light floods in day time giving it a good nature vibe. The whipped cream wasn’t oily and the strawberry jam tasted very fresh, not too sweet, with real chunks of strawberry in it. The Honey Seasalt Croissant was kinda confusing because I couldn’t taste any seasalt at all? but the buttery flakes were really nice and crispy. Maybe they can make the sea salt flavor stand out more. For the coffee, I asked for vanilla on the side (coffee police please don’t judge me) and it made it even better. I don’t know much about coffee but this is hands down one of the best lattes I’ve had in Batam. We also ordered the Ukimidori Matcha and it was umami, with a fruity aftertaste. We thought the matcha wasn’t deep and bold enough, probably because of the matcha-to-milk ratio. Another thing is the matcha wasn’t the microfoamy, thick, velvety, fluffy type and more on the lighter side which was a bit disappointing. I prefer a nutty flavor profile so maybe i’ll come back to try their other matcha. It was apparently a local property before Marriott took over. The refurbishment is poorly done with cheap finishes from the lobby to guestroom & spa. After requesting a change, we were moved to a room facing the night market. The area itself does not feel safe as numerous online reviews mention the high risk of pickpocketing, and I agree walking around the area made us uncomfortable.
