Five Rivers offers an excellent level of service, and a quality menu, all delivered in a very tastefully designed restaurant. We were politely greeted and were smoothly escorted to a table of our choosing from those available by Kyle, the waiter that would be tending us. It were a hot and humid evening and the cooling AC environment of the restaurant meant for a relaxing experience. We were given plenty of time to order, whilst we nibbled on poppadoms with a variety of relishes (delicious by the way!) and round of drinks. Starters were lovely, however I must admit this was the first time we ordered lobster and it was a challenging endeavour! Again, we were given plenty of time to order the main course and following deserts. Both courses were excellent in presentation and tasted lovely. Kyle's service was excellent throughout making our overall experience one to remember. This is more costly than most other restaurants locally, but the experience and ambience together with the service we received was excellent. We would highly recommend the Five Rivers restaurant in Walsall, for special occasions. They have recently added a new fast food kind of menu which inc a range of burgers (100% Angus beef), pizzas, kebabs, deserts and milkshakes. I couldn't wait to try this so i had kebab meat and chips, pizza(margarita), cheesey garlic bread, wings and chicken kebab in naan. I got to say I was pleasantly surprised since panka walla really specialise in curry dishes. Everything was spot on, loads of flavour and delivered hot. Even had 20% discount on order as its a special offer at the time of order. If I'm being picky and I mean picky I'm not sure of the doner kebab meat as it may lack flavour if not dressed in there sauce and onions, but that's it. We'll worth a try, and dining in is a must as place is spotless, homely, staff are really friendly and can't do enough. Delivery driver was pleasant also. Just an add on, just been recently and the place is still spot on. Spotlessly clean, staff excellent and food is beautiful. After a lot of searching, this little place came up as the most recommended with great reviews, I wasn't wrong in picking this place. Lovely little restaurant with a great ambience, great for a quiet night out or not so quiet in our case!!! We were definitely quite vocal. Great selection of veg and other sides such as Mac and Cheese and potato gratin. The meat was cooked lovely and plenty of it! Yorkshire puddings were straight out of the oven and sooo good! We walked in via the back entrance a little lost to be honest and was ignored by members of staff to which we then went to the bar - not a great start. The bar staff were really kind and helpful, we ordered some drinks and then mentioned we would like food and then made our way to a table of our choosing. We looked at menus for around 15 mins and was hoping a staff member would come over to ask us for our order. I saw a member of staff a young man and asked him if he could take our order. He nooded and then walked off...10 mins later a lady came and took our order - before the point about being busy is made it was not busy at all.... The starters were nice and we got a mixed grill with 2 sides of chilly chips which were great. We wrapped up and a staff member asked if we would like the main course which was then served. The main food which was Desi murgh and Butter chicken which were honestly not tasty at all. I know my desi food and I'm afraid it just did not taste fresh or as great as I expected. Overall food taste and portions need improvement especially the portion size of the butter chicken which was in a small size dish and for £10 is honestly a joke... As for the staff hit and miss but the customer service here needs huge improvement! I have been to many other desi pubs in the area and can say honestly this visit was not a highly rated one for me personally.

I highly highly recommend coming here, especially for the price! £35 for such high quality of food, 4 courses, is unheard of and well worth the visit. The mains were by far the best part of of the meal, with the lamb dinner (of sorts) and mushroom risotto being the stars of the show. The jacket potato purée was divine btw! For me the chocolate fudge cake was lovely and moist but it had way too much chocolate and I couldn't taste any fudge. We both also had unlimited soft drinks that cost £4 each but you can have as many refills as you want. The staff were absolutely amazing and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was great, apart from a few kids running around and they were slightly a bit loud watching something on their phone. Me and my mom went outside after our meal and we were greeted by a friendly white and ginger cat which was an amazing end to our visit. Our reservation was for 6:30pm on a Saturday. We arrived on time but our orders weren’t taken for 20mins. Starters were served 40mins after that and we waited another 40mins for our mains. When the food arrived, sadly most of the our dishes weren’t worth the wait. The best part of the meal was the non-veg thali meal. Service was extremely slow even when the restaurant wasn’t busy to being with. When you pay the bill, carefully check each item because they had added an extra item to our list! I was slightly worried being a large party that food would be disappointing to some as a lot had mixed grill platters, which we've experienced in other places before. Not one person had an issue with their food or the presentation. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed their food which for some of my family who are very fussy was a BIG achievement as we have not yet achieved this elsewhere with a large group. Plenty of parking and when it gets busy, there is an over flow car park too. Toilets are available if needed. The garden centre is large and has a lot to offer. We weren't disappointed. We dined at 6pm so can't comment on service if busy. Poppadoms were plentiful & fresh, and non-brittle. At bit more chopped onion would have been appreciated, but we could have asked. Menu is well structured. All dishes are cooked to "medium". If you want it hotter or milder then tell your waiter. Jay was very helpful. Chicken Kadhai and Chicken Bhuna were chosen. Chicken was really tender. Owner sources her meat from a local butcher and pays a little more for quality. The menu is very extensive. An order of a large haddock and chips produced a medium size haddock in a very soggy batter and large quality of chips of average quality but again a little bit on the soggy side. When we arrived we expected the place to be very busy as they didn’t pick our call up when we tried to call and book but upon arrival it did not look that busy with many tables empty. We noticed the place looked short staffed as one guy behind the counter seemed to be making everything and one girl was taking bookings/seating customers and even serving. When we were eventually sat down, we ordered, we noticed how slow the service was. We must have waited over half hour for food, again i know that isn’t a long time in restaurant terms but for breakfast items? If it was 50% off surely the management would employ extra staff? I cannot imagine how slow it would have been if the place was full. The food it self was ok, the full breakfast looked like half breakfast. The Shakshuka was tasty with a good amount of spicy kick but the egg in it had sadly been over cooked. The lamb bacon was chewy, alot of items were out of stock etc. In all honesty there are better brunches out there for the price point and for £12 full price for full english, i don’t think i will return for brunch anyway. It’s a good concept sadly lacking execution, this review is purely on brunch and service. The staff were nice and polite, i cannot stress that enough. The place is clean and maintained but the brunch is not quite there.

Most of the desserts taste like low grade, bulk bought in puddings with fancy plating to cover it up. Nothing feels freshly made or prepared in house, just pre-packaged items warmed up and served with syrups and sauces. The prices are far too high for what you actually get. Parking is also a nightmare, which adds to the overall disappointment. Someone with a less refined palate would happily enjoy it and not notice the lack of quality, but for those like myself who appreciate real baking and desserts made fresh from scratch, this place simply doesn’t deliver. I had heard good things about this place but It wasn't my experience. The staff didn't seem to happy at all. There was only one lady who verbally responded to me other than on entering being told how much we had to pay and if we wanted drinks besides that everyone else just looked with no emotion on their face and either nodded or pointed when asked something. The first plate of food was amazing, couldn't fault it in any way, was very pleased with it. My second plate unfortunately wasn't the best, some of the chicken was cold in the centre, cooked just cold, and some of the pork was extremely hard to chew along with a few other food items tasting different to the first plate (i chose the same food i had on my first plate so i couldnt understand why it tasted so different. Because of this i left the cold and extremely chewy parts on the plate and when staff came to remove the plate i was given a funny look, i didnt understand why until i noticed the no waste policy which could end up with you paying anything upto £50 in charges for wasted food but luckily enough i didnt receive a charge. I get they don't want waste but it would have been nice to try foods I hadn't tried before but because of the no waste I thought better not just in case I didn't like it. The place was clean, the drinks and slushy options were great, there was good amount of desserts to choose from and ice cream. Good amount of foods to choose from, overall plenty of choice. Lovely little fish pond on the way to the toilets which was a nice feature. Toilets were clean from what I was able to see but there was only 2 toilets unlocked for use all other toilets were locked the whole time we were there. I'd say it's ok but if you have to travel 40 mins like we did to get there I wouldn't bother, I'd go to cosmos instead. This is only my experience, as mentioned I had a great recommendation for it from a family member that was the reason we went to try it, sadly it didn't meet the expectation I hoped for from the comments I'd heard about it.

Lovely warm welcome on arrival. All the staff wore masks and were all polite and attentive. We were here in the evening and paid the £15.99 for the buffet. The drinks are on the pricey side but the soft drinks are FREE refillable which negates any cost. There is a wide variety of starters, mains and desserts. All the food looked freshly made and as soon as an item / tray was running low it was filled up again. All the food we ate was tasty and delicious and couldn't fault the food. You can definitely get filled up very quickly so ideal to pace yourself. We did and we was there for about 2 hrs and none of the waiting staff seemed to mind or pressured us to leave etc. A nice relaxing atmosphere, although, the music could be turned down a bit so people can have a conversation without shouting. You are encouraged to wear plastic gloves ( provided ) whilst helping yourself to the food via the spoons and the soft drinks are filled up for you ( again due to Covid ) all in all the restaurant did a great job of keeping people safe as they can. We will definitely be back and I recommend the place to anyone visiting Walsall or stopping over, just remember to pace yourself. Re-tried these lot after almost a year and there was an improvement compared to the last time we ordered. Coming in decor was amazing and place was busy but we was seated straight away. Had some popadoms and nice salad and chutney. Order a small tawa was very nice, changed lamb chops for chicken tikka, staff very accomdating so very gratefull. Tawa was fresh and on point, shish kebabs were lovely i enjoyed them, came with a free 7up bottle aswell. Staff were nice and friendly and regualry checked if all was ok, managment even came out aswell. I would highly recomended this place and defo returning with family and friends. I thought we'd give it a try a few days ago. We waited a few minutes for our hot drinks and about 15 minutes for my basil & tomato soup with a drizzle of olive oil and swirl of pesto, with a cheese toastie (sourdough) But it was well worth it. Hearty, rustic, simple lunch. There's a sign on the counter which informs customers they serve "good food" and not "fast food" so bear with them as they prepare/cook food to order. The venue is clean, nicely decorated, run by volunteers, is lgbt+ inclusive/friendly and linked to the church. We might return again.
