The food was tapas style served as a set menu and was truly amazing. Flavour wise, all the dishes were outstanding and the standout was the scallops which I inevitably had to get every last drop… I know I’ve said the price is expensive but my girlfriend and I are greedy pigs but I wouldn’t have it any other way lol. The staff were chatty and friendly, giving us recommendations for the rest of our trip in the area and one bloke who can’t have been older than 18 was absolutely class. Bailey told me he’d been working there for a week but he made it seem like he’d been there for so much longer - top man! All the food was tasty and creative. A carefully considered menu executed by some clearly passionate chefs. The Hake, the potatoes and the pork were standouts for us. The menu had a good variety of food and at reasonable prices. Upon entry we were met by a young lady who was very friendly and helpful and showed us to a table with menus to hand, the décor and ambience of this place was a relaxing but buzzing vibe. After placing our order with the waitress food came out shortly after all freshly made and the quality and portion sizes were fantastic. We came here when our original plans for the evening fell through and I knew this place of old as I sold Cornish souvenirs here a few years ago. Great friendly staff who knew their stuff. My lady opted for the mussels which were not only wonderful but also immense! It looked like a casserole dish that they arrived in. She ate what she could, I had some and our dog thinks they are wonderful given how many there were. Truly amazing. For my part I opted for the baked Sea Bream which was pretty big and cooked to absolute perfection, one of the best fish meals I've ever had. Warm welcome nicely explained menu and how to order by a waitress on her first night's service so I was impressed by her . Cocktails came aperol lacked kerb appeal not stirred and no prosecco others looked ok . Why the lost star you ask well , after couple of our party were going to have a dessert. Only to be told if we did want dessert a move was required to another table this seemed rude as the table obviously seated the same number and was obviously empty . Perhaps nearer the door and colder I don't know we paid £173 for 4 and promptly left if we had stayed we probably would have added another 100 to that bill with dessert and extra cocktails the list looked appealing. The food kept it a 4 star but really left a sour 3 star feeling to what was a really good restaurant. Will as usual go back. We came across by accident whilst walking down to the Electric Bakery we’d been told we must visit, (it’s also great if you’re visiting Bude btw!), and popped into book at table. We had to wait a few days as they were so booked up but now we’ve been in, we see why! The restaurant is gorgeous, amazing views and the food was stellar. Great variety of choices, loads of them gluten free which was fabulous for me. The staff were so attentive in general and made the experience all the more special but I have to mention, the care they took on my order really making me feel in safe hands coming back to check once we’d ordered via the handy little card system what I was having just to be even more careful in the kitchen even though I’d ordered all marked GF dishes. This may seem OTT to some but I thought that was so great as not all businesses take that much care and a lot of the time serving staff don’t even seem to know basic allergens never mind understanding and caring enough to double check everything. My personal favourite were the haddock goujons, fish tasted super fresh, fish flaking perfectly and the batter was light, crisp and crunchy with loads of flavour, Everything we tried was great including puddings, the chocolate orange tart was deliciously rich and yummy! If you’ve not been to The Bank, pop it on your to-do list as it’s been a highlight of our holiday. Fantastic food, lovely staff, beautiful views and a great way to end our stay. What a gem to have if you live locally, we will definitely be back on our next trip!

I had padron peppers and they were fantastic. but out of the 6 tapas dishes we ordered we only really liked two of the dishes. we found all the fish/seafood dishes disappointing in favour. our two recommended dishes would be the chorizo in wine and the serano ham croquettes. we ordered a starter each and 6 tapas dishes, two mocktails and one cocktail and it came to just over £100. That said, portions are very generous ( I'd have recommended sharing 3 dishes between two people with a light starter.) would go again but avoid the seafood dishes.

However, Bude is a small town so this is an observation and not a complaint. Within these limited options was Elements restaurant and we were fortunate enough to visit them for our final meal in Bude. Ours was a last minute reservation and I had to call the restaurant to confirm. We were offered an 8:30 seating which we happily accepted. The excellent customer experience began from my first call! A short while after the call ended, Elements called back to ask if we wanted to visit them a little earlier and so we would not have to wait or eat late which was a consideration we were not expecting. On arrival, we received a genuine and warm welcome as well as provided a table, menus etc. Our orders were taken by some of the most attentive staff I have ever had the pleasure of being served by. Likewise our food was with us very quickly. The most important part of the evening, the food, was simply outstanding! The care given to each dish was evident and the outcome was absolutely delicious. Our main course done, we moved on to some equally awesome desserts, which were heavenly. By this time, we realised that it was approaching the restaurant's closing time. However and once again not what we expected, our hosts were in no hurry for us to leave. They provided a level of service that truly made our evening perfect. Reservations definitely recommended and also there is a nearby church for parking as the sign outside the pub does ask to avoid parking on the narrow street next to the pub. Reviews looked good, and managed to get a table. Food was incredible, best meal I've had in a long time. Had the turbot, very fresh and perfectly cooked, some really lovely flavours. If Electric Bakery was a rock band then amps would be turned up to 11! True 5* experience. Hands down the best and most consistent bakery. They are all about good food and coffee. Artisan style. All ingredients are local. Our order came out really quickly and looked amazing. Sadly we found four hairs in our meals. We told someone whilst there and they said that they would come and talk to us but they didn’t. Such a shame as it would have been a good review otherwise. Finding four hairs overall in 3 of the dishes isn’t acceptable. Perhaps hair nets would be a good investment. Decided to spend the afternoon at Crooklets Beach so this was a natural starting point for lunch - and we weren't disappointed. Chef's Special Salad sounded interesting and a bit unusual so I went for this - and I wasn't disappointed. Not sure what I was expecting for £15 but my expectations were exceeded - massive pile of salad (no tomatoes, thank goodness) with a lovely dressing, tangy feta and pickled red onions. Beautifully presented. Impressed with the size of the kids' pizza for £7 too. Chips were good. Vanilla milkshake was like drinking proper ice cream 🍦 😁 Place was well kempt, clean, and had a very American-diner feel. We had breakfast here on one morning and the food was amazing. Gluten free options of everything which was great. I had eggs florentine with a GF muffin. Smoothies were great. Ordered at the counter and collect your own drinks. The next evening we had pizzas. The BEST GF pizza base I've ever had. The pizzas were phenomenal. Highly recommend eating here. Drinks arrived with lots of froth, person pouring them must’ve had Parkinson’s, as one of the drinks was 3/4 full. The Coke tasted a bit bitter, so must’ve been off brand — which isn’t what you expect when it’s advertised as coke on the menu. Service was sluggish. One of the waiters moved at the pace of a sloth, and it took ages for the food to arrive. When it did, both the rice and chips were cold. The naan bread had the texture (and taste) of garlic cardboard, and to make matters worse, the order wasn’t even right. Other families were coming in with bookings and still left standing for far too long. A few were told to come back in 15–20 minutes despite having reserved tables, which is just poor planning. It was obvious they didn’t have enough staff on. The one positive was the ambience — there’s a genuinely nice vibe to the place when you’re sat down. But good lighting and music just didn’t make up for it. I feel harsh writing this as some of the staff were quite nice, but I’m being honest. Wouldn’t go back, needs serious improvement.

Last time was a magical experience in August ‘21. This time, the menu has been updated and is now ‘Cornish tapas’. The problem is that tapas requires lots of options and small plates and it seemed to me that the menu was highly limited and was just actually new headings on the same menu with starters called small plates and mains labelled as large plates. Not to detract from the quality of the food however, it’s delicious and locally sourced. My last review: What an amazing find. My husband and I have just dined here and found it to be a very special place. We were given just the right amount of time to order and the staff were so attentive throughout. The wine list was varied and for a quality restaurant also reasonably priced. We went with the duck starter and the tomato starter followed by two sirloin steaks which were perfectly cooked with the crispiest chips. The béarnaise sauce was great, very well balanced. Toilets immaculately clean, as was the rest of the restaurant- decor was lovely and cemented the friendly but high class vibe. They have had a tough time like so many local businesses through the lockdown but it’s great to see them open and I can’t wait to come back. I would not hesitate in recommending this place - truly great!

We went on a Tuesday night, and were worried that it might be a bit quiet, but we shouldn't have been concerned. It was busy but not too busy and we found a table outside. We chose 2 meals and paid, and they were at the table within about 5 minutes! We chose our drinks (which were really good!😋) from the extensive rum menu that they have but if we had fancied something different there was plenty of selection with other drinks. There was multiple things on the food menu that we wanted to try but we decided on the whole bird to share, this came with 4 sides. When it came out everything was hot, tasted absolutely delicious and was bountiful. We cannot fault this place, it was well decorated, clean, staff were friendly, service was great. We went here seeing some nice reviews online but were left more than disappointed. The price is outrageous for the quality and portions sizes and tastes defrosted at best, certainly not fresh. We heard one of the chefs making inappropriate comments about customers quite loudly and saw 2 kitchen members smoking out the back door which put us further off our food. Wait staff seemed pleasant but uninterested and had to call for attention despite it being quite a small cramped room from which all tables can be easily seen. I visited for the second time this year on Wednesday with my children as we were staying at the nearby camp site for our last get away of the summer and the food was amazing, you can tell that the food is of decent quality. The staff are welcoming and friendly without being too much and the location is absolutely spot on especially if you are able to sit outside on the front patio overlooking the bay. The pub is open to anybody, there are adult only areas and a slightly more formal restaurant however there is a nice relaxed conservatory at the back is theres an outside play area too if you have children. I didn’t book either and they had plenty of space both times in the less formal areas.

For establishments like this that bank primarily on location, Widemouth manor delivers fantastically on other benchmarks like service, food quality & ambience as well. From Breakfast to Dinner, food served here is Unpretentious, Impressive and appetizing. The place has a rustic feel good ambience that blends well with the breath taking external surroundings. Staff were always pleasant from check-in to dinning to checking out, no complaints whatsoever. For families traveling with little ones, there’s a bare minimum play area which is quite rare with hotels these days and acts as a serving grace when dealing with untimely child tantrums. Our little one enjoyed the play area from start till I handed over the key during checkout. The external seating area if weather permits adds further appeal to this fine establishment. Free Parking - in a place like Bude, the sheer presence of a free parking within the hotel premises is a Luxury, one shouldn’t take for granted when visiting Widemouth Manor. All in all, Widemouth Manor will definitely be our go to place when visiting Bude again. Thanks to the staff, the owners and their 2 lovely pets that made our short stay worthwhile. Eventually I had to get back to work so asked The London Inn if I could leave my keys there for the rescue company to collect and they said it was no problem and checked if I was alright. When I took my key back to them I ordered a coke and packet of crisps whilst I waited for my colleague and the girl behind the bar was very friendly and again checked if I was okay. The pub is in a lovely little village and we managed to park near the church at the side of the pub. We had our dog with us so asked to sit at the back of the pub which may have been a barn back in the day. The pub was full of random bits and bobs, we loved it. It was like being in an episode of Salvage Hunters! It had so many old features and is very quirky. The service was a 10/10. The lovely young woman who served us brought water for the dog and couldn't do enough for us. The food is homemade, I had a cajun chicken burger that was really realky nice and a good size. The portions sizes were good and the price very reasonable! We will definitely be popping in again the next time time we are in Cornwall :-)

I went for the Steak & Ale + chips. Decent big lumps of meat, very tasty really hit the spot! My wife had the Roast Chicken pie sat in a Yorkshire Pud with gravy. She loved it! We also had hot chocolates which were nice. Next time I’m in Bude I’ll definitely be eating here. The ONLY thing I can knock this place on is the toilet could do with smartening up a bit. Definitely glad we came here though, we were welcomed by a very friendly pair of chaps that run the shop who looked after us and gave our Dog Daisy lots of fuss and treats. The food was a mixture of street food style starters with a few variations on the mains as well. But their show stoppers are definitely the pies. I had a steak and ale which was full to the brim and encased within a crusty pastry which was the perfect consistency, not too dry, not too soggy. Sat on top a creamy buttery mash with minted mushy peas and topped with parsnip crisps (definitely been converted from a parsnip hater!) The whole meal is then sat in a plate of proper meaty gravy. One of the best pies I've had and we will definitely be returning for lunch/dinner when we next come down to bude!

We was so pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome of the staff and the atmosphere in all they had recently a new puppy who they let come out after checking everyone was ok with it. They made a huge fuss over our dog who is very shy at times and the coffee and gin was just right. All in all a great experience wish we hadn’t had just eaten lunch so we could have stayed for food.

Completely appreciate that it has been an awful 18 months for businesses, and that the pandemic continues to cause challenges with staffing etc, but felt there were areas where improvements could easily be made. The service on the evening we visited was quite lacking; on arrival we were gesticulated towards our table from behind the bar, we weren't asked if we would like any sauces with our meal, nor whether our meal was okay, and getting any attention was quite tricky. The restaurant was only half full and the waitresses were talking at the bar, so it wasn't an issue of being overrun. The food was also mediocre. The croquettes were underseasoned, fries were overdone, and the bao buns were fine but only half full. We expected better when the recommended 2 dishes per person costs circa £20 per head. I feel this place has the potential to do really well, and we may have visited on an "off" night, but to justify the prices more effort is required.

I like to try and support independent businesses where I can so I decided to give this place a go having walked past it numerous times over the years. This particular time I was there on my own and was really craving some Chinese food, and rather than ordering from the usual three Chinese takeaways I thought I'd go in and see if they could cater for a single customer. The lady that greeted me was at first somewhat surprised that I was there on my own, but quickly set up a table for me outside (there are no outside tables, but I appreciated the welcoming and extra effort). Unfortunately, that's where the good experience stopped. The food was absolutely awful. Definitely not fresh ingredients. Definitely not authentic Chinese food. The chicken didn't look or taste like chicken. The selection of the 'buffet' was tiny. It took a long time for anything to be topped up, and some of it was never topped up the whole time I was there. There appeared to be only one person doing the 'cooking' and he was definitely wasn't Chinese. Cheap, bulk bought frozen ingredients for sure. It's a shame to have to leave such a negative review because the the lady was sweet but I have to be honest. If you don't care for quality then go scoff your face for £17.50 per head. The food is disgusting. Most of it is clearly cooked days in advance and kept on a hot plate until you order it. By the end of the meal, I felt so sick I couldn’t eat anymore, and a family member had to leave the table because of how awful it was. We were overcharged as the woman serving charged us for two egg fried rice, but we only received one. The food we received was disgusting. The chicken curry and kung po chicken both tasted and looked like pre made food bought from a store. And the other food we ordered was just bland chicken mixed into sauces. The sauces were horribly made. The consistency of the szechuan sauce looked more like slime than sauce. Also the crispy beef was terribly cooked and even though it was labeled as in chilli sauce on the menu it was actually coated in kung po sauce. It was also impossible to cut through, the only knife we had that cut through it was a bread knife. Overall the food was just disgusting and was not worth the over £50 that was paid for it. Do not recommend this place. Overall the Food was disgusting and has left us all feeling unwell the next day. And the customer service was incredibly rude.
