Had the fish soup, the squid ink risotto and the seabass. The fish soup was decent but the risotto and the seabass were great. Prawns on the risotto were juicy and tasty and mixed with the right level of brine flavour in the ink it made for a tasty dish. The sea bass was very impressive as it was nice and soft and juicy but the grape veloute added a sweet flavour to what is usually a surprise-free dish. Service was fine, not over the top courteous like other Maltese restaurants but polite nonetheless.

We opted for the tasting menu aptly named ‘Mare’ which had some truly exceptional dishes. The stars of the show were the octopus and the risotto which really stood out and despite being incredibly full I still devoured my dessert as it was truly special. The trigger fish was very flavourful however it was slightly on the dryer side. When the fish was paired with the sauce it came with the dryness was a non issue for me as I am quite tolerable to salty food however my partner was struggling to eat it due to the sauce’s high salt content. The atmosphere was wonderful, the restaurant is beautifully secluded with a sea front view that opens into a magnificent harbour. The service unfortunately could have done with some improvements, at this price tag I typically would expect the servers to be replenishing our water and wine glasses but I did find myself delving into the ice bucket on all but one occasion to serve my partner and I extra wine. Additionally when consuming a tasting menu which is typically 6+ dishes, I appreciate the servers providing a description of each dish as it is being served however this had to be requested at each dish and it did seem at times like the servers didn’t know the menu nor what they were serving (to be fair I imagine this is challenging given the menu changes everyday). The server did spill oil across the table when clearing the plates and despite pointing it out didn’t come and clean it without us having to ask her to do so. We did also order some sides to be served with our main however it seemed these were forgotten about as they seemed rushed to prepare them after we had mentioned they appeared missing and only arrived half way through our mains. I would recommend people to go to Terrone despite the mixed service we received and would gladly return again when I am next in Malta. With some slight adjustments I believe Terrone could improve on its already great reputation given its Bib Gourmand.
