The happy hour in the bar starts earlier than dinner service and makes for a fine place to wait. The pasta dishes are wonderful, and I'd recomend trying them before the short ribs. Becuase you'll probably just keep getting the short ribs. The spatzel pasta is delicious and balances the ribs with their horse radish topping. The brownie and apple crisp are both excellent ways to end the meal.

My dish, the Halibut specifically was made very well, though what was underwhelming was the "Grilled Seasonal vegetables". With it being one of the most expensive dishes here, it was quite a let down to know "Seasonal" to Mingo is sliced green, red, and yellow bell peppers. So Seasonal, they are most definitely not and one of the cheapest veggies one could pair with something amazing like well cooked Halibut. Grilled seasonal asparagus or Brussel sprouts pair much better and are really seasonal. The most underwhelming though was the ravioli, chicken filling sure, but more seasoning is definitely needed. There was a tinge of sweetness too. So not a terrible dish, just underwhelmed. I know they can do better.

Ok here goes, I really wasn’t hungry to begin with but couldn’t resist a nice steaming cup of hot chocolate and a country sausage omelette so that is exactly what I ordered. Servers were friendly enough but seemed a bit confused as to whose table each has. I was seated by one, and asked if I would like something to drink at which I requested my nice steamy cup of hot chocolate then another server came by to ask me what I wanted to drink so I told her I had already ordered my cocoa. Hot chocolate arrived but was lukewarm with a small dollop of whipped cream . Food arrived in good time but also was not hot enough. Omelet was thick but like every other breakfast restaurant was not cooked the way I prefer. Omelets should be light and fluffy with the ingredients mixed evenly on the inside. This was just neatly folded like they had just picked it up from the dry cleaners up the street. There was a bit of cheese inside the omelette but not enough to make any noticeable difference in taste. The bits of sausage and country gravy were just poured on top. Not sure why but there was a very different taste than what I’m used to in either the gravy or sausage and it didn’t really appeal to me. I turned my attention to the pancakes which came with a tiny bit of butter to put on them and a small container of syrup. I like a lot of butter and syrup on my pancakes and although this amount was sufficient I would have preferred more. Pancakes were nothing spectacular, kind of crispy and rough on the edges but still tasty. Plus side was that they don’t skimp on the portions. I ate all I could of the pancakes and omelette before sacrificing the rest to the great garbage bin in the sky. I wasn’t asked if I wanted more hot chocolate in my small cup but my ice water was refilled with not so icy water which made the remaining ice cubes melt right away .All in all it was necessarily a bad breakfast but for the price ($20 for all) I found it a bit high. Not sure if I will return as I don’t live in the area anymore but I would be willing to give it another shot sometime.

This is in the smaller town of Beaverton, near Portland. A nice, upscale whiskey place with many options to choose from, including local custom options made specifically for the bar and hand-picked barrels of whiskey. Prix fixe menu that was so delicious! I am not one to take pictures of my meals but I know this is a new place and wanted to share. Don and his crew have done a wonderful job. They've created an intimate, delicious dining experience that takes you on a journey. My favorite part was the personal touches Don added to the menu, I literally cried reading about the dessert and how special it is to him and his father. (Getting teary-eyed right now just thinking about it!). The foods are exceptional and executed perfectly. The pasta was perfect and was made that morning. The eggplant parmesan cut like butter and melted in your mouth. The clams were so well-balanced. The dessert- literally tear-inducing. Wine was delicious too! Very small kitchen and it's amazing what they have achieved in such a small space. They run like a well-oiled machine and their comradery shows through in the dishes they create. The maitre d is also lovely! Absolutely cannot wait to go back and say hello to Don and try more of his favorite foods!

We did find that the drinks (when we finally got them) were quite inventive and good. Otherwise, this small space is dark and noisy with many people crammed into tiny tables. It's fun. The portions are gargantuan and the staff was super friendly. This all made for a great experience for breakfast. We left half of it behind because they give you so much. It came in like one of the mortar shaped bowls with like smashed plantains and the slow roasted pork in the middle. It was pretty good. The Marinated Steak was decent and had a good flavor to it, but the Mofongo would be my recommendation.
