In a town full of tourist-heavy restaurants, this place stands out, and we’ve tried quite a few. Prices are fair given the location (you are in Boothbay, after all), and the quality and portions make it feel worth it. We’ve been in both summer and winter, and it’s been a great experience each time. In the colder months, the indoor tables with harbor views feel extra cozy. In the summer, their rooftop deck has one of the best views in town. Service has always been friendly and attentive, even during busy times. Our go-to is the haddock sandwich. They use these massive pieces of fish, and it’s always cooked perfectly. We’ve had it both fried and blackened — both are excellent!

The staff was very nice, even letting us linger past closing. The clam chowder had a delightful texture and flavor, and the lobster bisque was good. The green salad with well-seasoned and well-done shrimps was a simple yet noice choice. However, our main disappointment was the seafood risotto, given the restaurant's reputation for risotto. Adding Parmigiano or any cheese to seafood risotto is unacceptable. Despite the rice and the seafood being otherwise well prepared, this was a major misteps. The sangria was not a smart choice as well - it contained no fresh fruits and was noticeably lacking in flavour, very watery/diluted. We also felt the pricing was quite high for the overall experience.

Great location right on a pier with all the food made right there with indoor and outdoor dining options. An on site bar that you can drink outdoor to as well. I’m just gonna cut it short and get to the point - the Colossal Lobster Roll is no joke and is worth the price. I live in Maine and know a lobster roll inside out and have had dozens on dozens from all over the state for years and j have to say - this is the absolute largest one I’ve had (and yes I’m aware of the one at Taste of Maine but it’s the equivalent of a health insurance copay 🤣) This lobster is a behemoth of a roll. At least a pound of lobster meat if not more. I counted three tails and three claws and more. Sandwich so bag I couldn’t wrap my mouth around it and had to eat it like an ear of corn taking bites out of it (after showering it with butter of course). Twice collapsed in my hands from its own weight. A fork and knife might be the safe way to take this bad boy down. The best way to describe it is like holding a giant burger with the grip style that you can’t relax knowing it’ll explode if you release. Anywho - it was great and it was the first lobster roll that about knocked me on my ass - usually I’ll buy at least three to be satisfied. After one of these I had to tag out. Give it a try.

They had live music while we were there which was great and being right on Boothbay harbor with the light breeze made for a perfect date night! We arrived at 5pm and had no trouble finding a parking spot or a table. By 6pm they were much busier, so get there on the earlier side. Everything is counter service. Food counter is at one spot and the bar is inside, first come first served. This means you’ll need to order from two counters and likely will stand in line twice. There was basically no wait to order food. My only complaint was the wait for the bar. There was a line of at least 8 people at the bar when we first got there and there was only one bartender working. Wait time was at least 15 minutes for our initial round of drinks. I didn’t mind waiting for our first round which I got before ordering food. But once we picked up food, I wanted a beer to go with my dinner but the line for the bar was out the door, so I didn’t bother because our food would’ve been cold and my husband would likely have been done eating by the time I got back. But this is my only complaint. Food was delicious and perfectly cooked! We got the crab roll which was stuffed and had the perfect amount of mayo so I could still taste the crab. The bun was warm and toasted. I would’ve liked to have a butter only option for the crab roll instead of mayo since my husband hates mayo, but it’s already mixed with the mayo which just meant more for me ;) We also got the fried fish dinner which was some of the best I’ve had. The fish was flaky, perfectly cooked and the batter was the perfect amount and stayed stuck to the fish while eating it. Loved their tartar sauce which used sweet relish and that was a pleasant surprise. We got the garlic mashed potatoes which used red potatoes and were wonderful. We also got the fries which were great as well and were a good portion. They also had a section for steamed seafood where you can watch them steam lobster, clams and mussels and a special section to pick up your steamed food with all the fixings like lemon and butter. Prices were very reasonable and our total cost was less than every other restaurant we’ve eaten at since moving to Maine. This is our new go to spot for dining out. Can’t wait to get back there.

With options to sit inside or outside, it is a great Maine-style small town seafood restaurant. They also offer land fare like Beef Short Rib, Steak, Chicken, in addition to the seafood. Arrived around 930am and waited in a long line to order- took about 45 minutes from getting in line to being served. Our group ordered varying degrees of meals from a breakfast sandwich to the lobster Benedict. The lobster Benedict (arrived as pictured) was not worth $32- we actually laughed at the portion when it arrived given the small amount of lobster and the 8 home fries. Home fries were a mix of regular and sweet potatoes which I personally did not love. The water front views are nice if you can get a table- otherwise, you're better off getting your meal to go as the back patio is swarmed with bees. Part of our group got up to go sit on a bench to try to get away from them and the server noticed and said "oh ya, it's bad back there". Obviously, to a degree this is something difficult to control but it was pretty bad so would benefit from some type of mitigation. No one in our group left particularly impressed with the food or experience. I would not recommend this cafe for a sit down breakfast experience- could probably meet your needs for quick service items. They were small and briney and tasted like the ocean which is everything we want from oysters off the coast! Our 10 year old got a blueberry soda and fries and loved both. My husband’s lobster roll and I kept stealing his fries they were so good. We’ve eaten at several places in Boothbay and they have all been better than anything in Bar Harbor. Maine was the one seat at the top of our list that we have always wanted to visit. We got a hotel nearby because of its proximity to Maine botanic Gardens. This restaurant was our first taste at New England seafood. It was a short walk from our hotel Right on the water. There was no wait time and we were seated at a very nice table. My daughter ended up getting a lobster roll and my wife got coconut shrimp. All of the food was amazing! We did not care what we were going to spend for this because we looked forward to this the entire trip. Yes it was expensive but we spared nothing on the menu that we wanted to try. They’re mixed drinks we’re good and their beer selection was nice. If and when we ever make it back to Boothbay, this restaurant will be on our list. I highly recommend.

We had a 3rd floor king room. I gave the room 4 stars just because the room was a little outdated and the bed was a bit more on the firm side. Where the main building is positioned, we had a great view of all of the boats in the harbor and were able to look out to the ocean. We also loved that the balcony is mostly private, there's barriers between your balcony space and the next balcony space, if you stand up then you're able to see if anyone else is out on their balcony. Staff was also very friendly and helpful. It may not quite seem like it from looking at Google Maps but the Tugboat is right there where all the action is, all the restaurants, coffee shops, stores and footbridge are within a 5 minute walk. Coastal Prime was about a 10 minute walk and the Lobster Wharf was about 15. I would highly recommend staying here!

It is definitely a nice place, waterfront with the availability to come and dine from the sea. The terrasse is ok with nice view and the main room looks nice too, all wood built and looks cosy. Tucked into a small lot in the middle of town, this place has limited hours and only three items on the menu: Haddock Sandwich, Haddock in a Bowl and French Fries. All of it is superb. The haddock is fried and about as fresh as it could be. You have a choice of tartare sauce and lemon dill sauce. Ask for both. We didn't have the fries, and it's a good thing because we were stuffed just from the sandwiches. The servings are massive! There was about a half pound plus of haddock on each sandwich. They are only open 3 hour's from 11-2 and often close earlier because they run out of fish. We were lucky today, because they had extra fish. We were so relieved to find that Boothbay Craft Brewery Tavern & RV had a destination charger! The gentleman who greeted up was super friendly and bubbly, and gave us a reusable bag with maps and local event information. But, with all the accolades online and at the facility, we were expecting better. The brewery is nice, not enough seafood offerings for being so close to the shore IMO. RV camping was a bit cramped. We never could locate the dog park listed on the map, which would have been great as there are minimal grassy areas. The bathrooms were absolutely adorable on the outside. The showers are large which is nice, and the addition of bathmats being provided is a definite plus. Unfortunately, the showers have next to no water pressure, and if somebody runs any other water, flushes or starts the washer, pressure goes to a trickle. Worst of all, the bathrooms were dirty. Trash was overly full, showers need a good scrub, toilets were both dirty (attaching one of the gel things to the inside doesn’t mean it cleans itself. Top of the toilet tank (where the flush mechanism is located) was dusty and grimy. The doors were all covered with dirty handprints. And good scrub down would have bumped our rating a star for sure.

Had an amazingly delicious breakfast with the family and all happy bellies after and good before our cruise. Parking lot and restaurant are both small though so if you have a large group get there early and be prepared.

Vietnamese coffee was halfway gone by the time I went to take a picture. The back deck is a great place to hang out and eat. It can get busy so build in some extra time if you’re trying to catch a boat. Breakfast is served all day. Haven’t tried the lunch or dinner menu yet as we’re always there in the morning.
