For an appetizer we were torn between the muscles and prosciutto wrapped shrimp, and ultimately the shrimp won out. The appetizer portion was 4 shrimp, of good size, so bear that in mind if you have larger parties. For dinner I had the penne with mushrooms, with fresh house made pasta!, and my partner had the chicken marsala with twice baked potatoes (yum), broccolini, and spaghetti squash. We went for my parents 51st anniversary and made that clear several times. The food was good.. the service was good... but the table was just okay ..the atmosphere was just okay. This was a Sunday night and there were only four or five tables filled.. they could have done so much more. They did nothing at all to celebrate this big event.. not even sending out a manager or even the hostess to say happy anniversary ...let alone a piece of cake or dessert which we have often received on the house at other restaurants. On a positive note, they had my favorite red wine by the glass : prisoner $25 and moms favorite scotch : Oban for $24 a glass. The bread was good..hotter then the meal but the olive oil was bland and had no roasted garlic at all. Overall a 3 star rating. We enjoyed it but nothing fabulous.

With a steady flow of customers we knew it would be good. We were quickly seated and our drink orders were taken. Lobster and corn bisque was amazing. We ordered the Grilled Cheese, Crab Cobb salad and a Petite filet. We also ordered some Onion rings. There wasn't anything that wasn't amazing. Perfectly cooked onion rings with the right amount of seasoning, not greasy and the onion didn't slide out when you take a bite. The filet was cooked like ordered, medium rare. The flavor was outstanding. And very tender. They loved the grilled cheeses. Very unique but delicious. My crab cobb salad was filling and also delicious. We also got the Key Lime pie and salted caramel cheesecake for dessert. Everything that came out of the kitchen not only smelled but looked amazing. All in all an amazing experience. My only concern and I'm sorry to say this is that I believe the crab may have been spoiled as I was violently sick the next day. It only happened to me and I'm the only one that ate crabmeat.

Food was excellent, we had the island favorite and a daily special chicken dish that were both so amazing. Portions were smaller than what you might find on average, but absolutely not more than you'd ever want. We left feeling very full and not wanting more. The dishes are so flavorful. We also had the conch fritters which were so good, and nearly identical to what we've had in the Bahamas, where they are a tradition. I ordered the "seven ounce" blackened Filet with baked potato and grilled asparagus. My steak came out and I was stunned at the size of it, I asked our server if it was the seven ounce and she told me the chef cuts them to order and has a bit of a heavy hand. It was huge. My guess almost twelve ounces. Cooked to a perfect medium. I took one bite and could not believe what I was tasting. I was a Starwood Chef for 18 years and my son in law ran Shula's Steak House for three of those years and I can say without reservation that this was the finest piece of meat I have ever encountered. She said don't you know what our property looks like. I said no I have only been to Boca grande one time seven years ago for a day trip. She then told me the price and told me to get my credit card. While I went to get my credit card after giving her my general information I handed the phone to my husband so I could retrieve the credit card. She then said what's the number? My husband said are you in a hurry shes going to get it. SHE THEN HUNG UP HIM!! This woman is the most awful representation that you could have for the inlet. She does not need to be working there!! It is my understanding that this property is owned by the Gasparilla Inn. This review is not going to help in any positive way. We travel a lot and will never stay at the Inlet. Absolutely astounding and ridiculous experience Ive ever had in making a reservation! This woman needs to be FIRED! We will gladly give our business to another property there on beautiful Boca grande who appreciate the business.

All in all in was a miserable night and because neither of us got any sleep and were in pain we ended up heading for home that morning after checking out rather than going down to stay at Sanibel Island like we had planned. When I told the desk clerk at checkout about the terrible night and the bed situation he just told us the beds are new and other people like them rather than offering even any type of partial refund. Overall we had a nice experience with the office folks and staff and for a waterfront location, the cost of the rooms is intriguing. My family and I had two rooms - one efficiency room and the junior suite. We stayed for two nights. The hotel is quite dated and showed many signs of wear and tear that could use some care and attention. The efficiency room had a constant smell of urine. The junior suite bathroom had poorly patched-up/painted areas where there may have been water damage. The bath faucet, drain, and towel racks all had visible rust - it really didn't look great or feel clean. There was a pretty bad ant issue (which they would have addressed quickly by spraying or using open Terra traps, but we weren't comfortable with using them as our toddler was in the room). A glass top was missing from one of the two nightstands and areas of the kitchen could also use some TLC and fixing. We knew it wasn't a Marriott or large chain hotel but were expecting a bit more out of the kitchen, especially since we paid more for the suite. No salt and pepper or anything "extra" - It was very bare-bones and we weren't prepared for that. However, on my last visit I was checked out by a younger girl maybe 19-20 yrs old and she was a bit snobby. I know I'm definitely not the usual customer from Boca Grande...I walked in with construction boots and a neon vest but I felt out of place by the way I was treated, which had not occurred on my prior visits.
