Since I can't see the future, I won't know how successful this restaurant will become, but I hope this business remains for the long haul because my experience here was good; not to mention, this area needs more diverse options since all I mostly see is American or (New) Mexican-centric food. Living in Las Vegas (Nevada), and having traveled to many countries, I have gained appreciation and the palate for all types of food from a wide-array of cultures/ethnicity, so it was refreshing to see this restaurant here. I stopped here for lunch with a co-worker on 9 Oct 2024 and overall, I "liked" this restaurant as depicted in my 4-star rating. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't busy at all...I'm not sure if it's because this restaurant was on the newer side and many people didn't know about it, or perhaps we didn't arrive during peak hours; or, maybe this restaurant wasn't that good to other customers. Regardless, I was happy that there were tables open for us because I didn't feel like waiting. The restaurant is a self-seating and pseudo-self-serve concept, meaning, we chose our own table and utilized a tablet to order and to pay for our food instead of placing our order with an actual employee (server). I didn't have any issues with that process; however, I wanted to add it to this review in the event people aren't as tech savvy, or thrive off of interaction with people/employees. Normally I'm not one of those virtual/technology types of people but I will say that their tablet was intuitive...and I especially enjoyed how it provided an option to split the payments versus having to request it afterwards. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of the tablet prompting you for a tip prior to services being rendered...similar to how a lot of businesses are using that concept (the whole turning the digital tablet around at the cashier counter asking if you would like to leave a tip). It's not that I don't agree with leaving a tip; I just don't agree with paying a tip before a service. I ended up ordering the Chicken Soup, Hummus with Pita Bread, and Gyro Plate. The soup had great flavor and had that traditional lemon taste to it; the hummus and bread was adequate - I can't say it was the best I've ever had, but it still hit the spot. The Gyro Plate was outstanding...that meat was cooked to beyond perfection (I enjoyed how they seared the outside of the meat providing a magnificent texture to it). I was a little bummed that the plate didn't look exactly like the picture, meaning, I was hoping for a little bit of veggies with my entrée. But, overcoming certain life's obstacles can be easy...I just went to one of the employees and asked for a plate of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions...which he happily provided with some cucumbers. The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was respectable. The booth seats could use a little bit of an upgrade since it wasn't comfortable at all - it felt like I was sinking into the seat, and I know I'm not that heavy. I hope for the benefit of other customers, it was just that booth and not the entire restaurant. The service that we did receive (bringing out the food and drinks) was adequate - the employees were nice and efficient. If you've never tried this place, I highly recommend it. I am all for trying new places and new types of cuisine so eating food outside of your typical McDonald's and Applebee's is always within my playbook. Why not adventure away from the boring standard?

We ordered the al pastor tacos, picanha tacos and a chicken sandwich along with a margarita, mojito and a root beer. Total was ~$64 before tip and included taxes. We liked the mojito and rate the margarita as average. Both tacos were great, however, the black beans were lukewarm and not to serving temperature. I did not try the chicken sandwich but my son said it was good. The staff seemed friendly and helpful but after we sat down and were given a hard copy of the menu, we saw a staff person twice (once to input a code for the adult beverages and second when those beverages arrived). You order from a Square kiosk at your table and it works just fine. However, you are asked to pay and tip upfront. I dislike this setup since I want to tip based on the service I receive and not what I expect to receive. I think that’s a fair approach for tips. The robot that delivers the food is interesting and fun. The robot seems to find their way around well enough and we had no problem retrieving our food from it. I realize this is a newly setup restaurant and there will be some growing pains. With that in mind, we liked the taste of our food but there should be more attention to patrons after the food is delivered. We had silverware for 2/3 people at the table and we would have provided immediate feedback that the beans were not at serving temperature. Both of those issues could easily be resolved if someone comes by within a few minutes of the food arrival. While it may not be possible, I would prefer to run a tab as we go so we can easily add more drinks and tip at the end. We tend to tip well but held back bc we didn’t know what to expect. We likely would have ordered a set of two mojitos but didn’t want to hassle with waiting to flag down a staff member and go through paying again. Also, why not offer both menus whether you sit in the Cantina or the Pyramid Cafe? The kitchen is the same and this would accommodate varied taste within patron groups. I applaud the owners for this updated approach here in LA and hope they continue to improve. As I said, the food was good and with some slight improvements, it will enhance customers’ experiences. We’ll come back after they get established and compare our experiences.

We were sat at a table and that was it, we were not told to order using the table tablet. Once order was placed we also figured out that food was delivered by a robotic server. Had to ask for waters that were part of our order. The appetizer we ordered was the ceviche tostada, which was good and then ordered some burgers with no bun. Just want to be fair and not be misleading with the photo. Our order took a very long time to get to the table and we had ordered regular fries and the talo fries. When we waved down a server and asked which were the talo fries he did not know, laughed and went about his business. The burgers were over cooked and dry. With all that being said I know businesses have bad days and kinks to work out. The atmosphere and setting is very appealing and I will be back and hopefully have a better experience.

Yes, the hours are limited but that is the only drawback so plan accordingly. The owners are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The seating area is small so go early if you have a group or better yet, call ahead and see if they can accommodate a larger group. Take out orders are processed an hour before they open for lunch or dinner and they do not accept take out orders after their storefront is physically open. The owners told me that it can become too busy to process sit down orders with take out orders. I've eaten here several times and also ordered take out. Once again no truffle fries I spent extra for. And one can’t forget dessert, I went with their Guinness brownie with vanilla gelato. The food was good, although I wouldn’t recommend the dry Rubi. The chicken wings, it had no flavor just smoke taste. The house made ranch and their truffle mac and cheese and black cherry soda where the star of the show for me! I swear they handed me my burrito within 30 seconds of placing my order, I said "Could you have made it any faster?!" with a warm smile, joking with them, and the old man in back gave a nasty look and said, "Just trying to get you out of here." Wow. Since there was no place to eat the food there, and they had no sugar-free drinks, I took my burrito to Smith's to get a drink and the burrito felt light so I got some chips to eat with it. When I opened the tin foil, I was presented with a mess - they use a tortilla that's WAY too small to contain the fillings, so it's essentially a huge messy nasty taco. Both the tortilla and the ingredients were bland and flavorless mush - no detected seasonings, no onion, no garlic, no chiles (other than the red & green chile salsa which was also bland and flavorless). I noticed they gave a salt packet, probably because numerous other folks here have complained about the lack of any seasoning. Like salt is what's missing. Sorely disappointed. I work near this place, and will never be back again. Not sure how they're even still in business. Gave 2 stars just due to affordability in an otherwise VERY expensive town, and due to the speed.

I told her the meat was burnt and dry and that I was sorry to say it looks like crap! I than went back and asked for a refund and showed Christine our order she said there’s nothing wrong with it that if I know what carne asada is I said yes we’ve eaten here I don’t know how many times and we’ve never ever complained we always told them how delicious the food was. She said she couldn’t refund me my money. I told her that’s unacceptable and I would never return there again. It’s a charming spot with great coffee and delicious food options. We tried the burritos and muffins, which were both excellent, and also recommend the Green Chile Cheese Croissant and the Pain au Chocolat. Most of all though, we were really touched by how kind the staff was! We visited the Los Alamos History Museum and stopped here for a bite. We were staying in Santa Fe and had taken an Uber to get here and were hoping to Uber back. We didn’t know that there weren’t any Uber/Lyft drivers in the area and it being Labor Day, there was no public transport available either. We were at a loss and didn’t know anyone in the area so my wife asked the staff for help and they were so gracious! Want to especially thank Eliza - she looked into what was available, suggested multiple options, checked on us every few minutes while we were trying to find a taxi service (that was open and had a driver who could come pick us up) and even offered that her husband would drive us all the way to Santa Fe if we couldn’t find another option! We were so grateful and deeply touched by the kindness she showed to us complete strangers. When we finally got a taxi, she even packed a couple croissants for us as it was my birthday :) Thank you Eliza! We won’t forget your kindness - it actually restored our faith in humanity a little bit :) All in all - lovely folks, great cafe - highly recommended!

The last time I was in Los Alamos was in Oct 2023 and since then, I've noticed a couple of new restaurants that either opened since my last visit, or were there before and I just never realized it. A co-worker suggested this restaurant so I agreed to try it since I enjoy experiencing new businesses. Needless to say, I went to this restaurant 2 days in a row (7 Oct 2024 and 8 Oct 2024), because the food was good. The restaurant's décor was nice; the interior looked clean and organized. The restaurant wasn't busy at all during both visits which was comforting because I didn't feel like eating at a busy/loud restaurant - I get enough of that in my home city of Las Vegas (Nevada). I know some may not find it useful or a big deal, but this restaurant has one of those robots to help bring out the food which is always pretty cool to see. I know a lot of bigger/busier cities in this country utilize those robots in their business, so it's comforting to see a smaller city/town like Los Alamos keeping up with modern technology. I ended up ordering the Guacamole and Chips; Chicken Wings (Korean BBQ and Citrus Chipotle sauces); and Grilled Picanha Taco Plate with an extra El Pastor Taco during my first visit; and the Cantina Burger w/Bacon and Fries for my second visit. As I mentioned earlier, the food was good. I was especially amazed at how flavorful the Chicken Wings were, including their wing sauces that I ordered (Note: they offer more sauce flavors than what I requested). The burger flavor was adequate; however, I wasn't a fan of how cold the hamburger bun was. The tacos tasted wonderful and the guac was served fresh. The service was inconsistent between both visits - I thought it was weird that it took longer to get my burger during the second visit than it did to get all the other food during my first visit. The price-to-quantity ratio was adequate for the most part; however, some of the entrées could probably use a reduction in price (i.e., the Taco Plate was a little on the pricier side considering you only get two small tacos). After ordering/adding one extra taco to that plate, the total ended up being $20.45 for three small tacos. I don't think I've seen prices like that unless I was at a more upscale restaurant back home. I felt it would be more respectable if the total was ~$15.00 for a 3-taco plate. Regardless, the food hit the mark with respect to quality so that made up for it...slightly. Overall, I recommend this restaurant to everyone. If I'm ever back in Los Alamos and can't seem to figure out what I want to eat, it's comforting to know that I have this restaurant to fall back on since I'm confident I'd receive top-notch food.
