Took the kids here and while they enjoyed their kids menu I was flabbergasted at the sheer size of my chicken burger. Thankfully it was delicious, as was the kids pizza. And, the Screening Room is a worthy first choice!! We were so impressed by the food and the service. We ordered the asparagus as entree, and for me, the crispy pork belly, and my wife had the balinese lamb curry. She also had their mocktail. For dessert, we had the apple and walnut steam pudding. All of them are beyond our expections. They are all perfectly served and the tastes are just amazing!! The staff are all friendly too!! We then asked the same waitress for a bottle of white wine for the table to be told they’d sold out and genuinely seems uninterested. Once finished it was (8:50pm) and table was cleared, the same waitress didn’t ask if we wanted desserts which two of my friends did and when asked, was told the kitchen had already closed down so could only have the Dubai chocolate mousse… the whole experience felt rushed and the lack of checkback on drinks etc wasn’t good. Tonight we had the pleasure of dining at "the good spot eatery" and we can honestly say hands down the best meal/service/experience ever. The food was amazing and if you haven't tried Asian fusion your missing out. The smoked mango cheesecake was the best cheesecake l have ever had. The service was exceptional. Not one single regret about coming over to Masterton for the night to dine at this restaurant. 10/10 plus 5 stars. A good range of starter, seven in total and nine mains to choose from. We usually prefer an entire meal of starters and skip the mains. The Korean fried cauliflower bites was unlike anything I'd ever tasted. It was a smokey dark sticky chocolate cauliflower (does that make sense!). Made with Gochujang, mayo finished with cashews and sesame. Vey impressive. There is a photo but it was so delicious I got distracted and only snapped what was left on the plate, but you get the idea. The tuna sashimi with wasabi creme fraiche, pickled ginger and lemon dressing was good but nothing out of the ordinary, but still good and refreshing. The crispy oraking salmon with asian potatoes and pickled red cabbage and shrimp sambal sauce and finished with coconut crumble was creative and very tasty. The venison short loin with date labneh, peanut crumble, blackberries and winter vegetables was rich and heartwarming. I would certainly return and try more starters although the sun-fed chicken with pumpkin ravioli with gorgonzola and walnut crumble looked delicious on the other table and desserts looked wonderfully satisfying for any sweet tooth. My partner was quite cautious because it’s a new place with minimal reviews and typically when you see a place specialise in two types of cuisines you question it. However, the food was delicious and the host was so lovely. He made some lighthearted jokes with us and was polite and patient. I had the butter chicken and it was some of the best curry I have ever had. It was sweet and the chicken was very juicy and tender. I would definitely come back here and I definitely recommend if you like Indian and Mexican food. I will say the Mexican food we got (enchiladas and guacamole) was quite spicy so if you enjoy spice you’d enjoy their Mexican. I also got a martini and it was definitely the perfect money to alcohol ratio. The food came out as quick as we ordered it as a bonus so we were only there 45 minutes max! I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for something new to try in Masterton. They also do takeaways which are cheaper than dine in experience which is a pretty rare and cool feature!
