Service was top tier. We like to think we are easy people to serve, but sitting just behind us was a group of customers that had something negative to say every few minutes. Regardless the server stayed polite, professional and helpful AF so 10/10 there. Food was great! We had a Meatlovers like pizza and it was absolutely divine. We also got like a different kind of Pizza with potato and sausage and that was okay. For my tastes i wouldnt get it again but i still can recognise that it was well made and theres definitely a pallet out there that would love the pizza. For desert we got a Nutella Pizza and it looked, smelt and tasted amazing. My only complaint (and it is a nitpick) would be the art on the walls. To me the art (being grafitti styled spray paint art on road signs) seemed really tacky and out of place with the other decor in the restaurant. Needless to say i loved my experience at Barrels. Definitely coming again.

We opted for the 3 course meal, and we were delighted with the menu offerings, which were enough to give everyone an option but not overwhelming with choice. We enjoyed the Beef and Scallops for entree, the lobster and trout for mains and the Snickers and Banana for dessert. The beef entree was my unexpected favourite dish, with the perfect balance between the well seasoned and flavoured beef and the brioche to accompany…it makes me salivate just thinking about it. Each dish was beautifully presented and highlighted each curated ingredient deliciously. The service and ambience obviously adds to the experience as well as the gorgeous cocktails and other drinks available. We enjoyed the flavours of the Scallops, Trout, Lobster, Rhubarb panacotta and cheese. The meal sizes are not large but adequate. In July 2023, eight of us celebrated my birthday dinner here. The venue is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere was elevated even more by the live jazz singer performing that evening. We chose the three course prix fixe menu and every single dish was exquisite, and I couldn't resist tasting some of my family members' dishes, which were equally amazing. Surprisingly, even though I'm not usually a fan of tuna, the tuna tartare was to die for. It's evident that a lot of effort and consideration went into the planning and execution of these dishes, as the flavours were out of this world. I will be back again soon and have recommended TRH to all of my friends, and anyone that will listen.

It has old style booths, old style cafe food, great coffee and best of all old style service. I remember going to the cafe in Bourke with my grandfather when I was a kid and they’d bring the sandwiches out in a plate cut into triangles, and the hamburgers were so big you couldn’t get them in your mouth, the chips were so crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, the milkshakes were served in a milk shake glass or old fashioned silver milk shake container. They do all this at this cafe, and one of the nicest things was that there was an old bloke there named Colin, who must eat there regularly because every single staff member knew him by name and stopped to have a chat with him. How good would it be if we could bottle that kind of atmosphere and spread it around.

Leafy greens were haphazardly thrown on top with no nice sauce or oil. I presume it was the owner that walked past and looked at us strangely and asked if everything was ok. This one is my preferred and recommended. The family are so lovely and the wife is very friendly and hospitable unlike coriander restaurant where the woman was rude and indifferent. We were told about this restaurant by a few people and so it was on our “must visit” list and we were not disappointed! A spontaneous trip resolved in us making it to the restaurant just before they stopped serving lunch but the staff was really kind and offered us some food. Hubby loved his gnocchi, though we both felt the serving could have been a bit more generous. (He ended up eating most of my leaves.) We both enjoyed the bowl of chips that we ordered with the mains. We shared a dessert of Spanish doughnuts, which was a generous serve – 3 pieces each – with a chocolate and a caramel dipping sauce. They were light and airy with a crunchy sugary coating. And the sauces were a delight to dip into. We liked the atmosphere; you can sit in the lounge area, or at the tables, or outside. There is a bookshelf with books and games for the kids. And plenty of room around the tables so you don’t feel other diners are listening in to your conversation. Or you can just perch on a stool, and have a drink if that’s your fancy. This is a place we would happily visit again when next in Murwillumbah.

I came on Tuesday evening and was 1 of 2 tables, only another gentleman there and waited around half an hour for my entre of soggy onion bhaji which were horrible to eat. After downing a couple to kill my hunger i didnt touch the rest. 45minutes in I asked where my mains were, the lady said my lamb swag was ready they were just waiting for the tikka chicken. Why they would have food ready and not bring it to the table is perplexing to me but I asked her to please bring out what was ready as i was so hungry at this stage. The only thing I heard going in the kitchen all night was the microwave, I have no doubt they defrost food and don't make things fresh as you can tell by the colour and taste the food is not fresh. I didn't hear the sizzling of a pan not once and I was right by the kitchen! I has to ask for salt to try and add some flavour to the saag curry. The rice was dry as it was also zapped too long. The garlic naan was decent garlic naan. Very disappointing. The lady was kind enough not to charge me and fairly so as I hardly ate anything and was kept waiting so long for very poor quality tasting food. Won't be back and recommend if you're after indian food to try one of the other places in town.

We ordered spicy Lamb Korma and medium Chicken Roghan Josh Normally the meat in those dishes is the other way around. The korma was excellent but I fear the RG lacked enough tomato. Apparently all the restaurants and cafés were closed and kamboocham cafe was about to close as well. But the two ladies there were very helpful and they still serviced us with two very tasty vegan coconut tofu wrap which she also heated up for me. It was very tasty. They cafe is more a laid back for healthy food and drinks. It's cheaper to eat out at sit down restauraunt and almost cheaper to hire somone of of airtasker or fiver to come cook for me. I always use the "deals", but they are almost scam with how many hidden charges there are. Want anything more than cheese and bacon pizza? that can cost you an extra $6 per. Want to take an ingredient off for an allergy? $3 per. Want a side other than garlic bread or a drink? thats gonna be $3-$10+ per. It ends up being $30-50 for meal (aproximately 1 value pizza and 2 sides). They are skating by, by being a monopoly in the town. Theres only 3 or 4 places that deliver (mcdonalds, but only somtimes, a fish n chip shop and dominoes). The food varies greatly.
