We had a broccoli steak, which could’ve been deemed slightly pricey, and two sides of potatoes which were delicious. We sat in the self serve area due to a high demand for tables, although it was very little burden only requiring going to the bar to order and picking up your own cutlery, food and drinks are still delivered to your table. While they tasted great and were piping hot, they could've also been confused for breaded garlic mushrooms. This was excellent, but the price was still premium at around £20. A word to the wise, this meal filled me and my big stomach. This was much more reasonably priced at £13.95. The goujons were excellent, I know because this meals filled my girlfriend easily so I was once again volunteered as her surrogate stomach! The staff were attentive and efficient and the food was hot to the last bite. In total the bill for both of us with drinks was a little over £50 and we tipped our waitress. This sounds a lot for fish and chips for two, but the quality, portion size and location looking out over the estuary all added up to a very relaxed evening. We loved our small plates, all amazing and filled with flavour. Especially their squash fritters. Drinks were equally impeccable. The service was unmatched, it was our waiters first night working there. He was incredibly attentive, informative with a friendly presence. Not sure where to even start with Amanzis but out of all of the restaurants I’ve ever been to Amanzi is THE BEST RESTAURANT I’ve ever experienced and that’s not an exaggeration. I was a student in the area and it was my go to spot for everything. Dates, my graduation meal, celebrations with friends. I even made sure to visit the restaurant on my very last day before I left Falmouth. The Espatada is well seasoned, juicy, delicious and comes with generous serving of garlic butter that enhances the flavours of the skewered meat and veg. Then the chips that come with them are crispy and fluffy. The burgers and cocktails were great too. The restaurant also has a nice atmosphere and really nice view if you sit outside. But if you decide to sit inside the decor has an impressive swagger about it. Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting the area or just live near by. Thank you so much to Amanzi and the staff for the great service and food each time I came by. Only problem was that I discovered it 5 months before I left Falmouth. We ordered the seafood platter for 3 and an extra side of calamari and was concerned it wasn’t going to be enough but we were oh so wrong - this magnificent spread of seafood could feed 4 easily as we couldn’t even finish it and had to take some home. Everything was just so delicious, especially the scallops and mussels in white wine sauce and the huge crab which was briny and meaty. You definitely get your moneys worth coming here, and will leave happily stuffed! We will visit again when we come back to Cornwall!

Also order the mackerel. Never thought I would be a mackerel fan but it’s prepared wonderfully and has great accompaniments that really beautify the flavor. Cons: I would skip the cheese plate. The cheese lacked flavor and the accompaniments don’t really go with the cheeses (at least for the daily cheese when we went, which was the Cornish yarg and the blue Stilton). It was also served with frozen grapes which I thought were good but also kinda odd. My husband got the bread basket, which he said “was fine” (unenthusiastically) but was not a fan of the butter as he said it lacked flavor. The fish of the day was a pollock and was okay but again, I think it lacked flavor.

The food was okay, the beef was incredibly pink (I understand beef is supposed to be pink but I had never seen it THIS pink before) the pork was unbelievably fatty. Other than this and having cauli cheese that we didn’t ask for we had no complaints about the food. We weren’t checked on while eating our food and during the meal we overheard another waitress ask the table next to us if they want any water and any specific dietary requirements , this then annoyed us because why weren’t we asked any of this? When it came to then end of our meal no one cleared our plates but instead we went up to the bar to pay. We expressed how unhappy we were and the waitress who we had been served by the entire time then slammed her elbow down and said “gowan then hit me with it” we had never been spoken to like this in a ‘restaurant’ before. The food was the only thing saving this place as the customer service was disgraceful. By the looks of it this young rude girl seemed to be bossing everyone around which made us think she may be the manager, if this is the case please rethink you decision. During our visit the place was getting busier by the waitress freinds who were all laughing and shouting walking in and out of the restaurant smelling like weed. And this place here serves them. Naturally we've had to try them. Located on the busy Church street it's impossible to miss. Very friendly staff, a nice setting with some tables outside to watch the world go by. Fair prices as well and dogfriendly. A sunny day, so we took a table outside. Ordered the classic cornish pasty with steak filling. And it was a fine pasty. But not the best we've ever had. The pasty could have been crispier, the filling a bit more spiced up. It was our first wedding anniversary and we booked this as something special to celebrate. We have visited once a year, on average, and this year was by far the worst. We will not be returning. When we arrived, we were seated on one of the tables furthest back in the restaurant. A small table, with seats opposite. It felt very noisy and difficult to hear eachother. Catch of the day was also £6 extra, even if we didn't spend the £60. The menu wasnt as varied/interesting as previous visits. It took a good 10 minutes before a drinks menu was offered and a further 20 minutes before the drinks arrived after ordering. 50 minutes for the starters to arrive - crab cakes and muscles. These were very tasty, however the crab cakes were tiny. The main then took a further 1 hour of waiting, for our steak to arrive. And whilst it was delicious, when we originally sat at 19.30, we didn't expect to be eating our main course at 21.15! Luckily dessert came quickly, which we paid extra for, as couldn't use the £60 dinner allocation towards a dessert. All together, whilst the food was tasty, it didn't feel like a £130 meal and the service was shocking. Our waiter howwver was the happiest and cheeriest waiter we have ever had and definitely made up for the slow food service. Not what we were expecting for out first wedding anniversary, which is a shame as we've always had excellent service and delicious and unique food here. Also, if you are considering the twilight spa package, we would advise to check the menu before, as its technically cheaper to buy the 2 hour spa pass and then just pay for what you want in the restaurant for most options.
