We arrived at The 1931 for some drinks before dinner. After a round of delicious cocktails, we decided to order the Grazing Board from the menu. When it arrived, there was one bowl of pimento cheese and various unknown meats. When she did eventually come by, we had asked for a refill of bread for the board since there wasn't enough crostini on the plate to eat the bowl of pimento cheese. I highly recommend for anyone to enter the Netherland Plaza hotel to see the beautiful French-Deco architecture and maybe even grab a drink while listening to the great live music. In our room there was exposed wire that was in a spot where any child could reach, the water pressure was weak and water didnt get any hotter then lukewarm. We had to ask for extra blankets and pillows because the ones provided were thin almost like sheets and not actual comforters in most hotels with this type of price. There were several parties in the event rooms and one included 5 cops and a fire truck bc it got out of hand. We made later reservations (8pm) hoping we would miss dinner rush for the revolving restaurant on the top level thinking we would have a great experience but, 150 dollars and 2 hrs later we were served a sub par $30 meal that included a bland over cooked steak and tiny sweet potato which we thought odd bc they advertised as a steak house. We spent 2 hours buying liquids. We were entertained by a major staff meltdown and were finally told that there was a major change in ownership where a ton of people were let go and there was no one to cook so they needed to close. There were 8 tables with no food served ! I do have to say that the sweet lady who brought our breakfast to the room 30 min early the following morning was kind and a joyful. We will not be staying at this hotel again and suggest you look somewhere else as well. We chose what we thought would be a little higher end hotel given how expensive it was but found a very disappointing experience instead. We are honestly not hard to please but thought we paid for something better.

And as for bringing this information up when checking out for a refunded stay. I suggest you watch your security video when I was informing the young lady at front desk about our stay. This place truly doesn't look like the pics online. I enjoyed my time in Covington and would come back. Would choose the holiday inn across the street next time though. Room seemed clean although there was like 1/10th of a roll of toilet paper left and had to ask front desk for some. Woke up the next day after getting good sleep with a minor itch all over my body. The next day I had rashes developing that quickly over the period of 1 1/2 weeks spread all over my body and face. It got to a point where I was almost afraid to go to work, that’s how much it spread all over my body and I could not stop the itching or bleeding. I couldn’t get in to see a doctor right away and finally the rashes got so bad I had to go to an urgent care. Got treated with antibiotics twice and two rounds of steroids and it finally subdued. When I was able to finally see a dermatologist they told me it was most likely scabies or some rare skin disease caused by unwashed laundry. Because I had been on antibiotics they weren’t able to give me a definite answer but they told me whatever it was, my body couldn’t fight it. Anyways, $120 hotel room and $900 in doctors bills later, I’m never staying there again. And this is a warning to everyone who thinks the view is worth it. The view from a doctors office isn’t.

It was clean and everything worked but the paint was chipped and stuff was just beat up. Just not really as nice as the price would have you believe. Maybe if your not in hotels 50 weeks out of the year this would be nicer. The lobby smelled like old stale perfume. If could use some pumped in ozone or oxygen to freshen things up like in a casino. The service was great, everyone was nice and polite and helpful. The location was ok being close and walkable to outside restaurants, breweries etc but only blocks away from above average violence and property crime so keep that in mind as you park your car and walk around. The do have an active bar and restaurant on site so you don't have to leave and we saw maybe 3 or 4 weddings on the weekend we were there.
