Created and run by two amazing local wahine, its got a casual cool 'getaway' vibe to it's interior design laced in warm energetic Kiwi hospitality. Down from Auckland for only two days I doubled-down on my brunch orders, because I simply couldn't make up my mind and knew I'd get major FOMO. The Mind Bowl (smoothie bowl) was so fresh and fulsome I think my stomach stood up and gave it a round of applause. This is like a bouquet of goodness - also looked so beautiful it was hard to ruin it (but ruin it I did). The Fish Philly was on a light fresh crispy bagel that didn't weigh me down and you just got to enjoy the smoked salmon/cream cheese goodness generously finished off with capers and all the trimmings. Next day I went back and claimed the Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie which was chocka with goodness (but thankfully tasted a bit naughty), sprinkled with a heaped tablespoon of chunky toasted granola that made for a couple mouthfuls of cereal when you got to the end. I also couldn't walk away from another one of those light crispy bagels, but down-sized to a classic cream cheese and raspberry jam and loved that it also came sprinkled with dried raspberry peices. The coffee is also AMAZE, rich and smooth - best long blacks I'd had for ages. Whether you're an out-of-towner or a local, this wee diamond is an out the gate awesome way to start the day, so get amongst it!

We visited Friday morning, arriving just after 9am. When we arrived, we weren’t greeted, found our own seats, got our own menus, so not off to a great start. I would have expected table service but there was none. We had to go up to the counter to order from who seemed to be the manager who was uninviting and didn’t want to be there. We had to grab our own cups and jug of “who knows how long the water had been sitting there for” - it didn’t taste very fresh. At least there was no credit card surcharge. Coffees came out promptly and pretty much all all that was good ended there. After a bit of a wait, food finally arrived. For one dish, we had ordered scrambled eggs only to receive poached but didn’t say anything as we didn’t want to make a fuss. The garlic on the mushrooms was a nice touch. The eggs benedict was not so great, just barely edible, only finishing to avoid food waste. The eggs were good quality but poached in extremely salty water, leaving the entire egg white very salty. The hollandaise sauce was equally salty and a weird consistency, smeared on the plate. The combination of the two left me cringing with how salty it all was. The hash was more crushed potatoes, a single “patty” and something to skip. Saving grace for the dish were the raw baby spinach leaves and bacon. Sadly won’t be returning for any of the menus or recommending.

Oh My Goodness have recently opened for evenings & and is offering something different now. They have a canteen style setup, where it is self-serve style. You take one of their pre made buckwheat pizza bases and build your gluten-free pizza from an array of yummy toppings. The staff will then weigh it, and you will be charged by weight. They have a great selection of salads, a hot broth, desserts, delicious smoothies, and a selection of herbal teas available, too. The atmosphere is inviting and warm. Despite knowing there was a great option just around the corner we decided to give this place a go, and it turned out to be a dlgreat decision. They have a little play area for younger kids, which is something I've not seen often in cafes in New Zealand, but a great addition. The only trouble with the play area was the toddlers were more interested in playing than eating. My wife and I both got the Rosti Bene and it was the perfect brunch. Well cooked and yummy. It was filling too, which was a good thing as the day as we ended up being busier than expected, so it was the only real meal we had until dinner that night. The staff were friendly, and able to negotiate around kids going to and from the play area with ease. It was relatively busy when we went in, so we were told our food from the kitchen was going to take longer than normal, but we were pleasantly surprised when it came out in a normal wait time. But there are one or two cafe gems here in this bustling growing city that really shine through, CoLlab Cafe is one of them.
