I recently had dinner at Shanghai Me Doha and the experience was one I won't soon forget. Nestled in the stylish surrounds of West Bay, this restaurant manages to walk the fine line between modern luxury and timeless Eastern charm. While many places in Doha strive for opulence, Shanghai Me does it with elegance and restraint and more importantly, it delivers where it truly counts: the food.
From the moment you walk through the doors, there’s a sense of arrival. The interiors are warm and moody, with plush seating, soft lighting, and art deco flourishes that give a nod to 1930s Shanghai. There's a natural flow between spaces intimate booths, open tables, and a stunning outdoor terrace that makes for a great spot to unwind with a drink. I was greeted promptly by the staff, who were friendly and well-informed without being overly formal.
