We got chatting with the manager and loved the stories he told us about the owner and how he creates these wonderful dishes and the decor on the alleyway approaching the taproom and unisex toilets (very quirky). I delighted in a Bibimbap with chicken whilst hubby had a burger and some potatoes that were on the specials board. We both relished each dish with much delight. The Harp attracts a friendly clientele and the bar staff are all lovely. No idea about the cocktails and shots as I am an adult but I'm guessing they are cheap given the quantity of brightly coloured drinks that seem to be purchased! It has a large outdoor area upstairs on the hillside at roof level and also a dodgy pool table. I went to the toilets and the upstairs is a shambles, dirty carpets and awful smell. The toilets are abysmal. I wish we had seen these areas first as we would have walked STRAIGHT BACK OUT!

Upon further inspection I saw other black dots and the rest of my stay was spent in the bathroom with all of my stuff. The rest of the hotel also had the same unkept feeling. What made this even worse was that I wasn’t told about the incredibly loud karaoke that happens until midnight on a Friday and the disco that happens on a Saturday night till the same time. Such disregard for customers that actually want to sleep! I didn’t stay for breakfast. To be fair to the manager, he was quick to listen and give me a full refund. I am saddened though, by his lack of acknowledging after many reviews that the hotel is not up to hygiene standards. He doesn’t seem to want to take responsibility for the bedbugs and blames cyclists. I ended up getting a train back having had three hours sleep, the day after arriving and cutting what was meant to be a lovely break very short.

Was my 2nd visit to this place today, ordered the burger and chips after a little mountsin day, decent scran. Last was here was a late evening and the staff kept the place open after closing time due to the Masters going into a playoff.
