Well, we were told only one pork roast left, which is fine so everyone ordered. Food arrived cold, the excuse for this was that the door was open🤣. The burgers were very filling, good variety of choices and a menu we'll thought of. Ordered the feast platter, more than enough for two. Fries were crispy sauces were good and OG burger sauce was my favourite. Chicken tenders buffalo sauce were finger licking good and onion rings were mastered too. If you craving a juicy filling burger it's a good spot. Many TVs playing football very nice. Music was nice in the background not loud either just perfect volume. Toilets were clean and modern great for a bar. The little notes I would mention for improvements. Tables weren't very clean and that's fair as only one employee was there on a Sunday evening. The lights in the restaurant some areas were dim. The table we sat one was tilting back and forth. The food took 25-30 minutes to be served and tables weren't even half full, could be a Sunday evening pace. Soft drinks weren't on the menu despite availability, and were 3.5£ no refill. Would be very good if the orders could be done via phones or if someone came to take them as some might have questions about the menu best asked then order is placed. The special PBJ burger was out of this world and needs to be a main menu burger pls! Superb drink selections even for non alcoholic beers and the likes. My biggest criticism is avoid eating in when any sport event is on, because jf you want to hold any sort of conversation with your family/friends/partner you have to shout at them, they have the volume up ridiculously loud it's pretty horrendous. So if you go when no football or rugby matches are on then great it's even worth the wait on busy nights for the top notch food.

It was a cold, wet day so we all had winter coats on. We had to keep our coats on while we had a drink in the bar because it was so cold in there. Jade, Helen and Tony were so helpful and made everything really easy. We chose the grazing board for the catering and we're really impressed with the quality, variety and freshness of the food. It was a really good option for vegetarians and carnivores alike. We really liked the decor of the room and the flexibility of the venue to decorate the space to our liking with balloons and banners etc. We made use of the Bluetooth speakers to play music via our phones. Helen looked after us in the evening and was so caring and welcoming. She even helped us to take a group photo which was really appreciated, and kept popping up to make sure we had enough drinks. Jade was so responsive and helpful over email and professionally dealt with any questions we had. Overall we 100 percent recommend this venue for your celebrations! The garden is a great place to go for daytime cocktails too with their garden bar, they serve some snacks and hot food but I was told they are going to start having platters and other food soon! My daughter recently hired the room upstairs and this was perfect, not too big and with a bar. Cannot recommend enough, the fact that you’re helping to raise money for charity with all of the cans you purchase is a bonus. Worth popping in just to experience their uniqueness.

Thankfully it was a good bottle - at £55 it should have been, and it was tasty - but that felt like a lack of basic restaurant training. We ordered a caprese salad to share and I ordered the prawn and chorizo linguine while my wife ordered steak. The caprese salad was a disgrace - sorry, no other word for it. It was a sloppy mess of chopped up tomatoes and chunks of mozzarella in a soggy bowl all thrown together. That is not a caprese salad. It tasted alright but looked horrendous so I struggled to eat it. I’ve attached a photo. Thankfully the main courses were quite good. My linguine was very tasty and my wife’s steak was good quality and cooked as requested. No real complaints about the quality and flavours. It’s not gourmet or anything - in fact I would class it as pub food really - but to be honest I’m still not 100% sure if it was worth the money for the quality. Which probably means it wasn’t. Especially considering the caprese car crash. As already mentioned, they redeemed themselves somewhat with the service and gave us a couple of complimentary glasses of house champagne for our anniversary which was a very nice touch. They even took the service charge off the bill which wasn’t necessary or requested by us but was appreciated and I have to give credit for them taking accountability. But it really shouldn’t have to come to that; you simply can’t be that fragile when working in a restaurant, especially when you’ve left a customer waiting for 15 minutes after seating them. Basic stuff if you want to be seen as a somewhat higher quality eatery for the area, although I’m not sure if it’s positioning itself as a restaurant or a bar to be honest. Maybe that’s the problem. Bit of an identity crisis. Overall a disappointing experience after hearing good things about the place. Food is decent but not amazing and the staff needed more training. We were seated just fine. The restaurant is well arranged, welcoming and has a lovely buzz. The menu has a variety of tapas dishes available, but also 6 main course dishes. We were greeted by a wonderfully lovely and friendly fella behind the bar called Mike, and it was just what my boyfriend and I needed to have our faith in people and hospitality staff restored 😂 We are not fancy people and wanted something simply yet tasty for lunch, and that’s exactly what we got. A varied yet straightforward menu with food coming out quickly. It was a Monday lunchtime, so only a few tables of people were filled inside - but I could tell that it’s an amazing big space for busy evenings on the weekends with music playing (HUGE smoking area/outside chair area outside opposite the castle, too 🤩) Thanks again to Mike for an extremely polite, professional and personable welcome and flawless service. She needs to learn the difference between someone genuinely being unaware and someone trying to cause an issue. I brought up the fact I didn't hear what she said when i didnt know a song wasnt on their list and her response was 'dont start that, i told you but you walked away' (because I didn't hear her due to the loud atmosphere, god forbid if someone is hard of hearing) and 'carry on and I will cancel everything for you for karaoke' even though I had explained the situation to her and even had to justify several times that I wasn't being assy and was just confused, which she couldn't care less. Her customer service alone ruined the night and she needs to learn to be more patient, especially when working in a pub knowing people will get drunk (even though I was sober). Her attitude from the start was horrific, she was waiting for the opportunity to use any power she had is what it felt like. I'm not one to write complaints but if she is that miserable at her job to want to start an argument with a customer, she should find a new job. I have told every uni student I know to spread the word to not come here. I know as a business that might mean nothing but she needs to learn proffesional attitude at work. Shes not on a night out, she is working a job. She was so rude from the get go, no ability to defuse any sort of situation and instead escalate it. It's disappointing as the night was going so well and her talking to me like a piece of rubbish on her shoe was so unexpected, it was so shocking it ruined the night. So for future, if someone walks away, they probably didn't hear you considering most people at the pub (which i spoke to that evening to clarify my point), just thought u were to hand over ur ticket to request karoake and leave the dj area. Please provide more customer service training for this staff member, the rest were amazing.

We visited when there was a large party already booked I to the restaurant area and the wait staff explained this as we where seated and explained the food may be a little slower than usual rather than just leave us waiting with no explanation. During the evening the manager noticed we had been waiting between our starter and mains for a while and without promoting from us came over a d supplied a round of gold tequila for the guys and rose tequila for the girls compliments of the bar. We have eaten at the Ship Inn, Cobham several times and always found it well priced and a nice place to eat so, when friends wanted to ‘Treat us’ we chose the Ship Inn. However on Sunday 5th October it seems they had a complete failure. Firstly the car park was almost full which at first I thought was a good sign but it turned out that the local kids football team had used the car park which is very close to the football pitch. When we entered the pub it felt chilly and quite empty @ 12:15 so we were early birds and assumed it would soon warm up. We all choose a Sunday roast as our main meals (2 x Turkey, 1 x Beef & 1 x Lamb shank). Our shock came when we started to eat. We are all used to ‘al dente’ vegetables but the vegetables on our plates were hard and defied our knives when trying to cut them. The turkey was dry and the beef was pink but lifeless (I don’t have a problem with rare but this beef was not rare it was cold and tasteless). Noticeably all the plates were cold and the dishes became cold halfway into eating. We all politely ate as much as we could but the fare we were consuming was dire. We then decided that perhaps we could make amends with a course of Apple crumble all round. Soon after ordering the waitress returned and said that they were out of apple crumble so, we resigned ourselves to Caramelised Biscuit Cheesecake, which was ok but nothing to write home about. Furthermore the room never warmed up and one of us resorted to putting her coat on. We bought two rounds of drink (from the bar) while we were there and despite only a few people being in the pub our ‘wait time’ on both occasions was long. Overall our visit to the Ship Inn felt like it couldn’t afford to use any heat in the room or for the food. We are disgusted by the overall experience and no amount of apology can put that right, and never to be recommended.

Unlike the previous management, they no longer change the ales on tap... so you are stuck with the same 3 ales every month, only one pint of lager (which usually tastes like they haven't cleaned the lines properly), and one pint of stout... their selection of cider and bottles behind the bar used to be much better-- now they are rather routine, and frequently run out. They removed the free pool table, which means that the only form of entertainment is music, which is often far too loud, and a dart board which also belonged to the old Wainscott club and is about 30+ years old. There was also one incident where I ordered an ale but was refused service because they were running out and wanted to save it for one of the gents who is there every day. Whilst not technically illegal, it does constitute as absolutely abysmal customer service. They shouldn't discriminate between customers. The only real saving grace is the nostalgia that this pub brings, and other than that there is little more to tell. Kate, is very friendly and always brings good service, but the clientele / reception often depends on the day. An okay spot if you're local and want a pint or two but not ideal for regular use.

The Morris dancers were having their practice eve. We had fun watching them all dressed up in their morris attire and dancing singing and playing music. It was great entertainment.
