The food was delicious I got the duck and scallops; the duck was so tender I could easily cut it with a butter knife. We were looking for something local and with good food. This place popped up for us on social media, and we decided to give it a try. They have a wide variety of food and lots to choose from. The “thicc” tomato certainly was thick, and it was perfectly ripe and delicious. The shallot bacon jam, blue cheese, and dijonaise all added nice flavors and complexity. The flourless chocolate cake was a perfect end to the meal. The cake was rich and fudgey. Although the restaurant appears elite and high end, they’re incredibly family friendly. The atmosphere is spectacular with the dim lighting in conjunction with the candlelight. The restaurant has an excellent kid’s menu, great drink selection, and good value for the amount of money we spent. This was easily one of the best family dining experiences we’ve had. This restaurant has a lot of press about it and boasts a beautiful setting. It was very busy when we came in and we waited to sit at the bar. The menu is very pretentious and so are the prices- but I knew that going in. The oysters were nice but pairing it with a $22 small pour of wine was tough to deal with. The pasta was a huge miss. Lots of places in CT make pasta and do it better. There was zero marriage of the ingredients in the sauce. I enjoyed the tuna tartar but the best part of it was the crispy potato it sat on. We started off with a dozen of their HH oysters and their HH cocktail which were very good. We later ordered their NE clam chowder, mussels with sourdough bread, and steak frites. The mussels were quite good but the $8 sourdough bread add-on for 4 pieces of bread and butter felt sparse. The butter was barely touched as the sauce from the mussels was plenty. The calm chowder was refreshing but not as thick as a typical chowder. The dish that really ruined the experience were the steak frites. We ordered the steak medium rare and it came to us well-done. For the price point of the food and the quality that was received it was quite disappointing. I would recommend coming here for the oysters but avoid the steak frites.

Don’t get me wrong it was quite good, and the waitress told me beforehand a detailed description of what the flavor would be. (It was a peach and licorice mixture.) I had to try it because I was so curious to see what it tasted like. And even though I do not like licorice at all, I found the flavor wonderfully refreshing and intriguing. I know that my grandmother who loved licorice would have been over the moon to enjoy such a dessert to end such a perfectly delicious meal at such a wonderful location. The food was amazing with unique offerings for sides that weren’t just french fries. The crispy potatoes with the chipotle mayo are delicious, and the maple brussels sprouts and atlantic salmon were as well. My boyfriend got the rigatoni which was just so tasty. He got the old fashioned flight which has original, chocolate, cherry, and maple old fashioneds, and the cherry was his favorite. No one does an old fashioned better than the Mariner though. The only reason this place didn’t get 5 stars is because they have a little bit of a fly/gnat problem. This is a great craft brewery. While there my wife had a full pour of their Whisker'd Wit, the breweries take on a Belgian wit. Beer'd knows their styles well and provides full flavor beers. I had a flight that included a fruity double IPA, oatmeal stout, a German pilsner and a traditional brown ale. All of the beers had great depth of flavor and were solid representations of the styles of beers. I finished out the evening with "After Dinner Sandwich" an incredibly impressive imperial stout. The staff at Beer'd were awesome. I was incredibly impressed with the customer service provided by Sarah, Jaimie and Bill. Even though Bill wasn't working this evening he provided amazing insight into the beers. This is a great establishment. They obviously know their beers well and have deep respect for the styles they make. I wish I lived nearby. I know that I will return them if I'm ever in the area again. Keep up the good work Beer'd. First of all, I did not know this place existed and when I went to dinner there with friend on the spur of the moment it was a pleasant surprise to get in. The outdoor atmosphere, the view and attentive staff were all great. Our waitress, Riley took very good care of us. One in a party got a signature cocktail which was delicious. One of our appetizers was the Crispy Pork Ribs that were cooked perfectly. I was expecting 3 ribs and we got 6. Our other appetizer was the Heirloom Tomato Salad. It was also superb and plentiful. We ordered a variety of great entrees that included the Coriander Crusted Tuna, Seared Stonnington Scallops and Short Rib Rigatoni. The Tuna included a delightful pepper jam with an olive oil infused poached potatoes, baby fennel, bok choi which served under a bed of water cress salad. The Seared Scallops was served on a bed of risotto with summer succotash and grilled corn and the Short Rib Rotini included Parmesan Crisps as an added treat. The combination of ingredients and flavors on this menu seemed very different from any other restaurant in the area which makes this restaurant “a must” to check out. You will not be disappointed. At the end of our dining experience, we treated ourselves to one dessert- the Coconut Exotic Fruit, which I found superb. It was combination of coconut panna cotta, mango sorbet and passion fruit curd. It was delicious. My only comment was that I would have added some toasted coconut shavings. However the combination of textures and flavors and serving presentation was definitely a masterpiece. Our consensus rating for the dining experience was 4.85 stars which is rounded up to 5 star. One more thing, at the end of dinner, our waitress, Riley came by and offered each of us one of their signature chocolates as an added treat. I highly recommend this place as a nice casual dinner experience in a relaxing atmosphere.
