If you're in MG road, Gangtok and want to tast some good Tibetian food, this is the place. It has excellent vibes, the service is good, staff is knowledgeable and the best part, the food is amazing.
Combine the above with some HIT beer and your meals is done.
PS:
Tibetian food is a little bland. If you're expecting it to be full of masalas then you'll be disappointed. Many of the dishes won't even have good amount of salt.
This restaurant is famous and usually there's a wait. So be on time and grab the table. Or else usually you'll end up waiting for long
The servers are knowledgeable and go with their recommendations. They know their local food better than the tourists.
You'll find a lot of foreigners here.
If you're a vegetarian you have good amount of dishes but many many not be of your palatte.

One more reason other than North Sikkim is Taste Of Tibet that I keep on visiting Gangtok. It is a must for me every time I visit Gangtok to have Sha Phalay and Momo there. Specially Dinesh Ji over there is polite and friendly, he will suggest you some good dishes over there. I will highly recommend Sha Phalay, no one in Gangtok makes better Sha Phalay and Momo than Taste Of Tibet.

The buff momo is a must try with the delicious tomato chutney along with the Thenthuk which is also a must have.
The vibe is very chill and the music kept uplifting our mood. The interior of the restaurant sparks nostalgia as the walls are very similar to nepali houses.
Overall a must visit if you are in Gangtok.

A somewhat disappointing dining experience. The restaurant is quite dark, and only the table where customers are seated is lit. so you end up eating in a dim space with just your table illuminated.
It took around 40 minutes for all the dishes to arrive, and even after 1 hour and 20 minutes, the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) still hadn’t been served, so I had to cancel it in the end. The pork belly was thin, almost like bacon. The staff mostly focus on the outdoor tables and are stationed far away, so if you need anything, you’ll have to stop eating and go look for someone yourself.
The prices aren’t particularly cheap, and I get the feeling that the issues stem from a lack of staff overall.

Im sorry but your lettuce was out of stock whilst the samgyup sal was already ordered.
The course took nearly an hour to arrive and somewhat 2mins prior to arriving , the waiter came up to us to give us the last minute update (lettuce is out of stock so we have served you cabbages)
Kindly tutor your staffs that a cabbage can not be a substitute for a lettuce in any way, specially if its for the making of a korean bbq! Anyways, we couldnt be rude to him sp went with whatever was served.
The beverage was self suggested by the waiter too. I would never recommend it. It would’ve been a self invented mocktail but my request to atleast strain the pulp or the skin out, specially if its a cucumber/ginger based drink. I wouldnt want my drink to give me textures of uninvited pulps.

Go for the Korean barbeque set here because its unlike any other you will experience. Every other restaurant in Gangtok sells ramen, tottenboki, kimbaps, bulgogi and bibimbaps.
The speciality here are its bbq for which they have custom made tables with a stove grill where you can cook your meat and vegetables yourself for the complete experience. They have Soju which is a good thing.
If you must eat anything other than the bbq you can try the Budajige noodles (don't always go with ramen!), hot stone rice and Kimchi fried rice for a safe option.

The food was perfect. We tried laphing, noodles and Tibeten calzone apart from a fresh lime soda and virgin mojito. Every dish was on point . The vibe was perfect and the live cooking really enhanced the experience. The staff was very friendly. I have had special thali here food was below average, Dal Makhani was very poor in taste as well as Butter Paneer and mix veg, they served 2pcs of Naan 1 was extremely cold as if this was routine for them to serve atleast 1pc cold stuff to customer because the couple next to me was also complaining the same. The live band - The Evolution playing on Saturday night was really good with their eclectic mix of english, nepali and hindi numbers keeping the crowd thoroughly entertained.
One should reserve tables beforehand or come in early before the live music starts if the want seating near the bar.
The non veg platter we ordered was good enough and can feed more than two with drinks.
The price is fair as compared to most other restaurants in Gangtok and the portions were large.
There are two seperate smoking areas on the pub side and on the restaurant side.
The servers were helpful and polite and the Saturday night crowd was a good mix of tourists, locals, students, couples, solo women gangs as well as families.

A place for the cool kids. The interiors are chic and modern, and the brown tones does wonders for the greenery in Gangtok. It's located in a less-frequented part of Gangtok, so you will have to drive/ride for a bit if you're staying in the central part of Gangtok. Not too far, though.

Another was Veggie Paneer roll (approx INR 100+), which was descent but chana in form of veggie was totally off the logic.
Momo - Only thing that saved was the mustard, peanut chutneys and the outer layer of momo. Else the momo only had 75% cabbage and rest was onion and carrot.
Total disappointmmet. The owner and packing staff all women looked helpful but that guy making the roti of the roll doesnt know to cook a roti to be honest. Its a just a thin roti which was uneven all around in thickness (for such a price expected a laccha paratha or kathi version or atleast a basic good roti)

I ordered Chicken White Sauce Pasta and Chicken Biryani. There was a fly on the bread served with the pasta, and the biryani tasted like leftover fried rice with uncooked grains.

Allen's would not appear in any of the suggested places to eat. But I had the most satisfying momo of my entire stay in gangtok and would rate it more than those served at shuffle momos or taste of Tibet. We also had choila chicken which was good too. The worst place to eat in Gangtok. The orders take too long and the waiters are very rude. I literally had to wait for 40 minutes and more for one order. The waiter kept saying 5 minutes or asked us go wait for some more time. I think that place needs a clock everywhere so that alteast they'll know what 5 minutes and 40 minutes actually means. We didn't even get our food at the end and had to leave. All we got was water.

It's a common place for 'Biriyani Bhai' and 'Fat Panda's Kitchen'. Both the restaurants are under the same roof. It is just beside the SBI e-corner.
It is a little difficult to find the place because it is placed in narrow downstairs from the main MG Market. But interior decoration is quite eye catching.
At least about the food I can say you can experience good taste buds enriching food. We tried Mixed Chilli Garlic Fried Rice and Hunnan Chicken. The taste of rice is so good that you can enjoy it only.

However, the constructions blocking the view of the mountains is a minor setback. I am out of my birth place, Kolkata, for last 8 yrs and one of the few things I always miss is the food of Kolkata taste....recently when I came home and visited Gangtok for few days, the first thing came into my mind was where to get food of our choice, as the previous experiences regarding food in Gangtok were miserable. But very fortunately, this time we found 'KARSONAM' restaurant where we felt as if we were in our home town , Kolkata......touch of 'bangaliyana' in everything.........the food taste, the ambiance, the staffs, the soft instrumental music.........everything!! This was the first time we enjoyed Gangtok full-heartedly.......Beauty of Kanchanjangha is definitely the primary attraction of Gangtok, but when it is paired with your favourite food (specially the biriyani......waooooo....), the enjoyment is just the double.......Lastly, we are thankful to the "karsonam' staffs for their 'antarik appyan'.

I recently visited Lil Tibet and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. While the ambiance was nice, we found hair in the shyapta dish, which was quite unsettling,one of the staff members was eating with their hands in counter while handling the billing process, which raised serious concerns about hygiene.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously to improve food hygiene standards and staff professionalism. These issues really took away from what could have been a good dining experience.

So I had been to this place two years back and didn't quite like until I chanced upon a picture of the thai platter recently and decided to give it another go.
So yes surprisingly the food quality was much better than last time and the menu too had undergone a vast change for the better.
I wanted the thai platter for which I had come but unfortunately it was unavailable so I had to settle for the Chinese pork platter. I liked the fact that they served only red pork meat without the fat as promised (unlike most restaurants here).
The wait staff was exceptionally courteous and kind. My only concern was the very high heat level in the beef chilly with ting mo combo. I'm good with hot stuff but on a level of 10 that was definitely an 8.5/9
So be sure to tell your server to go easy on the spice. Also I pointed out that when two people come to dine, they come to eat together. Not with one's meal alone and the when other meal arrives the first one's is already over !
Management should take note and try to send orders together or will lesser wait time.

I have visited this restaurant multiple times before, but today’s experience was quite disappointing. When I politely inquired regarding the food , the staff member (she was in Reception) responded in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. This was not the first time I noticed such behaviour, but today it was particularly unpleasant.
As a customer, asking about food preferences or dietary requirements is completely reasonable, and a simple yes or no would have sufficed. Instead, I was met with an annoyed expression and an attitude that made me feel unwelcome. Good service is just as important as good food, and unfortunately, this interaction left a bad impression. Food was quite decent but the service was a little lacking.
We ordered Kewa datsi, tingmo and beef shapta, crispy beef, and stir fried green vegetables. While the sir fry was a bit of a let down because of the little variety in vegetables, the rest of the items were very tasty. The tingmo could have been a little better cooked.

The menu has numerous veg choices, but none were available, not even veg momos. the place is small with poor ventilation...some may call it cosy but not for me!! We had a lovely experience in the Orthodox restaurant. The ambience was good and location is great. Located at the starting of M G Marg and next to Dragon Oak another nice restaurant on the stretch.
Orthodox Restaurant is open post COVID restrictions. Please check before you go to any place as many restaurants and places of tourist interest are still closed.
We had some Bacardi and breeders and the cost was quite reasonable for alcohol.
The pork ribs was roast was just awesome if you like pork. Their chicken dry also was too good. Masala papad is made differently over here.
The service is good and staff are great. A very cozy place and makes you feel nice and comfy in the cold weather. Service too is pretty fast.
Staircase leads to the restaurant on the first floor and there is no traffic permitted on M G Marg and people commute on taxi’s when they come here as parking is the biggest challenge anywhere in Gangtok.
Please don’t miss this place when you visit Gangtok.
Go for it and I am sure you will not be let down.

One of the most famous Roll and Biryani Joint in Gangtok and that too located at the most prime tourist destination, this establishment has made quite a name for itself. Tried their Biryani which is the special WB style & I can tell you one can go back there for more. Pictorially themed in Bollywood style, you could glance through the walls for some truly funny Bollywood dialogues while you await the goodies from their menu!
I tried their Biryani for dinner on the previous day. Next day…Back from Nathu-La & one can only think of a cozy bed hence got their parcel for some naan to go along with some Rezala & Chaap (both chicken) & some steamed rice 🍚 only to relish ‘ snooze 😴 away to glory!

To be honest we went there while roaming by the MG road, it looked good from outside।
Inside was also good, staff were quite courteous.
We didn't have much hunger so just ordered one Fried rice and one Chicken chilli, taste was it was good, but definitely not the best. It costed us around 630₹.
One negative we found they don't serve any desserts.
Having said, not sure why so many people so much negative reviews, hope they have a reason, but to be honest for me it was definitely not a 1.4* experience, especially if you are not looking for a five star gala dinner or something.

We decided to go to this restaurant seeing the decent rating on Google. But it was a greatest mistake. The food was tasteless and service was very very slow.
We ordered cream of tomato soup and it arrived on time. But the main course Paneer Labdar & Butter naan took almost 50mins to make it to our table that to after repeated reminder to the steward.
And when it comes to taste, it was below average. Soup was lacking important spices, paneer labdar was bland and butter naan was too thick and raw from inside. Total waste of money.
They took another sweet 15 mins to get the bill & 5 mins to get the change.

However they play along with the disturbing and saddening trend across India that dining out is no more a quiet relaxing experience. It's always accompanied with blaring music. I recently had dinner at the Food Court on Mall Road, Gangtok, and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. Being a vegetarian, my restaurant options are usually limited, and I decided to try this place.

We are in Gangtok, wondering around for a place to eat dinner and we came across this place, very close to our hotel and OH MY LORD…it was the best decision we ever made!
The atmosphere here is just amazing, we were at the karaoke bar, YES, there is a complementary karaoke bar and also a complementary pool table and of course complementary food!
We started off with drinks and had the chicken choila.. I had Choila for the first time and I was absolutely blown away by the taste! Then I went on to have chicken steamed momos and it was so soft and juicy and delicious! It comes with salad and chicken soup and there are 10pieces - yes 10pcs and I had all of them with ease! It was do delish!
My husband had butter rice and chicken curry and they gave complimentary salad!
Oh it was just a wonderful experience! The service, the manager, the bar tender- all of them were so so very good!

I along with a bunch of my friends visited this cafe for dinner during the year end. The cafe was beautifully decorated. It has many sitting arrangements. We ordered:

Kelly’s Café is hands down the best café I’ve visited in Gangtok! The food here is absolutely delicious, and every bite was a treat. We tried the Chicken Laughing and Korean Cheese corn dog, and both were bursting with flavor. The Chicken Laughing stood out — the chicken was perfectly crunchy on the inside, while the outer layer had a smooth, flavorful texture that made it irresistible. I totally loved it!
We also tried the **Corn Dog**, which was super crispy on the outside and wonderfully cheesy on the inside — just how a good corn dog should be.
Apart from the amazing food, the café itself is super cute and cozy, with a lovely ambiance that makes you want to just sit back and relax. It’s a small space, but very well done.
I highly recommend visiting Kelly’s Café at least once if you're in Gangtok — it’s a must-try spot for food lovers!

Absolutely loved the food and vibe of Kelly's Cafe. It's a cute little cafe near Lal Bazaar . The Korean food menu is amazing. The potato corn Dog was the perfect combination of crispy on the outside and chewy inside... highly recommended! Also, The Lafing here is too good...its flavourful and has the right amount of fiery kick...not for the faint hearted but surely worth a try.
The Kimchi Fried rice was nice ..though I added some seasoning to it.
The dishes are served hot and presented well. The price is also very reasonable for the quality of good food.

I visited Kelly’s Kitchen and was really impressed with their service. Even though the watermelon juice served in the melon is usually available only at their other branch, Kelly’s Café, they went out of their way and made it for us here. On top of that, when the sunlight was directly on my face and I seemed uncomfortable, the staff noticed right away and kindly helped us shift to a more comfortable spot. It's an elusive little place hidden in plain sight right within the MG Marg market. A very neat and clean place with an impressive menu. Mostly Korean food is served here but burgers and fries are also available. I tried their Caremel coffee and it was just heaven... also tried there veggie burger and fries which was so delicious. It's quite a decent restaurant with very minimal staffs but the service is fast though there wasn't much guest during the time we visit to dine.
The staffs were good because i and my sister were chatting about dirt in the mat and the lady serving the food came quickly and clean the mat though it would have been more professional if they would have changed the mat but its okay.

1.chilli chicken boneless: It was amazing,the taste was delicious and served hot .

3.chicken handi:The taste was good and the quantity was also decent.

We thought of ordering brownie for our sweet tooth but at that very moment they didn't had that so we didn't order anything for dessert because they didn't had a lot of varieties for your sweet tooth.
