We've visited this cafe a few times for coffees and cakes and it has always been first rate. Today we stopped for lunch and I chose the Beef and Guiness stew and my wife, the Pear, Stilton and Walnut salad. Both were excellent; well seasoned and thoughtfully presented. Each dish included a serving of delicious granary bread, though there was also a choice of white bread if preferred. We’ve been here a couple times now when stopping in appledore and are yet to be disappointed. The cream teas are great, a perfect amount of cream, jam and the scones are a lovely size. I’m yet to try to breakfasts, but my grandparents have and have said they are really well made with high quality meat. If you get the chance, i’d definitely recommend here. The owners are so friendly and chatty, love how clearly proud they are of what they have here (as they should be!). Food is perfect, the Melting Pot I had (mushroom, butternutsquash, stilon) was so delicious; hot, gooey, and really unique. My friend and parents had the tart of the day (a courgette and pepper tart, I think it was), I didn't try it myself but they were all singing it's praises. Clean plates all around. And Nikita, the lovely dog, is just a gem. She really ties this place together and makes it feel like you're visiting a friends house rather than a café. Visiting this place is an absolute must.

What a lovely experience we had. The back garden is quite literally a secret garden after entering a quite normal looking cafe the back opens up into a beautiful haven. We chose our spot in the garden and as there were 8 of us we had a big order! The chef was amazing. I was blown away at how all the food came out at the same time as the kitchen is so tiny. I had a BLT and it was perfect! My partner had a toasted bacon, brie, and cranberry sandwich which was also excellent. The polite and helpful staff were all smiles. They don't have a sign up saying the serve breakfasts until x, so I went to order a breakfast. "Ah. Sorry we've stopped serving breakfasts". Hmm I thought, so looking at the menu for alternatives, they do all of the components of a cooked breakfast which are all fairly widespread throughout their menu, so I asked what item in the breakfast they had difficulty providing, thinking it might be the mushroom or tomato, which I was less keen on. It seems they don't have an answer to the question, but refer to the idea you can build your own breakfast at £2.50 an item...so that's what I order.
