I came down with a cold and I have found Asian soups with lots of veggies to be very healing and comfort foods. I ordered veggie soup with chicken. Also decided to add some wontons, because I felt it would be considerate to them to spend a little more since the soup was only $10 for a large portion enough for 2 people. Also decided to get some hot tea. I placed an order there for takeout. It came up to around $18 and change.
I got to my hotel room, and that's when I realized they didn't give me a spoon for my soup. For most people, that not a big deal, because they can just get a spoon from their kitchen. But for me, I don't have a kitchen in my hotel room. I knew I had some plasticware in my vehicle. I keep a few of those to-go packs of plasticware in my car for times like that. You know the ones they usually give at restaurants that have a knife, fork, spoon, and maybe a salt/pepper pack and a napkin sealed in a little plastic pouch. But I was sick and my car was far away. So it was really inconvenient for me to have to walk back through the long hotel hallway and through the main hotel hall from the elevator to the parking garage to my car. It's probably a total of at least 2 city blocks, maybe even 3. And I have to walk there and back. So even though for most people it wouldn't be a big deal, it turned out to be for me, which is why I removed a star.
The woman who took my order was very nice. The food was delicious. It was just that spoon that created an issue. The fortune cookie was a nice little extra. I am from Colorado, and I have eaten at many places in Louisiana because I have been here for 7 months out of this year. I've been staying here to help my son, but I still have my home in Colorado. While here, we've been to new Orleans, baton rouge, and also lake Charles area. I don't usually have a kitchen to cook in while here (I don't stay with my son). It has been difficult to find food my other son (who is here with me) and I like here in Louisiana. The food standard is just not the same. This is one of a few places I have found with food similar to home and I will definitely be back! If I order soup (probably not, unless I'm sick), I'll hopefully remember to ask for a spoon next time. The wontons were the best I've had here in Louisiana so far, although they are a little more sweet than we are used to. Just a little, most places I've found in Louisiana make them very sweet. Too sweet for us to eat. The tea wasn't that great, even with sweetener, but that's not a big deal to me. I will definitely order from here again, and maybe dine in next time.
Menu is current for mid November 2025.
