There was a lot of people in the beer garden but not too many inside. The service was slow and twice we had to try and get the waitress to replenish our drinks. The pub in its old form with the previous owners was stuck in the past and very dated. The new owners have given it a fantastic new face and really warm and welcoming feel. I went this evening with my family and we were greeted by one of the owners and shown to our table really quickly and really politely. My daughter has a nasty food allergy and they were so accommodating of this and did all they could to make sure it was clear what items were suitable or they could adapt! The food was amazing, really tasty and really good portions. It was clear that The Hunters has stuck to their word on the menu and used local, good quality food! There was a short wait for the food, but long enough it was clearly cooked fresh and not a microwave surprise. My daughter and her allergy was well catered for as stated and she absolutely loved her food and the decor (we played eye spy!) The price was very good for the quality of the food we had. Yes other chain pubs might be cheaper but that's because it's all frozen junk with no effort. All the food we had was clearly fresh and the cooks definitely put the effort in and gave us a great meal. We did note that along with looking after our allergy needs they had lots of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The Hunters has a great atmosphere, great refurbishment and its clear the owners are really looking to be part of the community and not just another chain drinking hole. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!

A really lovely pub with amazing outdoor seating and even outdoor bar Unfortunately the food didn't quite live up to the advertising. We had various pizzas, loaded fries and seafood basket. All of it average at best, the seafood basket being especially disappointing, and not worth the price of £17 a pizza or drinks like Pimm's and lemonade coming in at over £8.

First the positives, we could not fault the service and the bar area and restaurant are attractive and the food portions were good. The food, however, was somewhat unimaginative. The goats cheese starter would have benefited from a seasonal salad & a good dressing. The avocado & tuna was particularly unimaginative. The mains were substantial but what can go wrong with a pork chop and a chicken breast though the sauce for the latter was uninspiring. The desserts were fine. The set course menu had carried a premium price, as it was the weekend but Interestingly there were very few diners in the restaurant. When I came to add a service charge this was not possible using a card. Who carries cash nowadays? In any case the meal was quite expensive for what it was before the addition of any service charge. Our mains took a while to arrive but it was fairly busy. I paid for two ice creams at 14.19. Only one other table was sat down. Unfortunately the food was tepid. The onion bahgii turned up very quickly (too quick to be freshly cooked). Then the rice was cold with the main meal (like it was warmed up a little) and the chicken was only just about warm. Service wasn't great with the staff not looking happy for us being there. The allergens menu needs to be re printed as it was a bunch of scrunched up stained papers stapled together (one person was Gluten free). The bill came with not enough chocolates for all of us and they added a service charge to the bill automatically (there were only 3 of us and no need for that. If we hadn't noticed probably would have ended up paying it!). Don't like service charge being forced on you especially when the service wasn't great. Disappointed as they used to be good but hadn't been in a while. The service was good, missing perhaps that intentivness, but I can't knock it. We were really impressed about how many staff they were on the floor, the service worked really well. We decided to have the Bangkok banquet, which was absolutely delicious. We were the first in at 5.30 so had a great choice of tables. Staff amazing and friendly. Knowledgeable on the menu as well as recommendations on wine. Starters so good. I had the squid was so fresh and my colleagues had the sharing platter (they even offered to make it for the 3 of us but as Joey says ‘Joey don’t share food’) I did share my main which was tamarind duck with was Hugh and amazing. My colleagues had the pad Thai and one of the chicken curries. All were fantastic. Duck definitely the highlight but next time I will be getting a rice side to go with it even though that will be too much food but they even pack up leftovers to take home. We told ourselves we wouldn’t have dessert but obviously we looked at the menu. The sticky rice with mango intrigued me and I gave it a go more out of curiosity (I keep telling myself that) but was amazing and not too sweet. One of the best mango I ever had and perfectly ripe as well. My colleagues had the banana fritters which was my second choice and will definitely be back to try. The lobby and bar area were clean, well decorated and furnished with plentiful comfy sofas and various seating, so far so good! The rooms: Well, they were clean, with clean sheets, clean towels etc etc, what you’d expect from any hotel chain. However; the rooms are in need of refurbishment. Badly stained carpet that has seen better days, paint flaking away from the single glazed window frames, window blind that would not stay closed, no hair dryer, and the hardest single beds I’ve ever laid on, very uncomfortable and I took ages to get to sleep and ached all over in the morning. The shower was just about acceptable, however it’s a shower over bath affair which you have to be very careful when getting in and out not to hurt yourself. Breakfast: The assortment was plentiful on the advertised menu. However when we arrived at 09.30 the coffee was empty and the tea was cold. There were no eggs available and no staff to ask. I chose bacon, beans, sausage and mushrooms as that were the items available at the time with toast from the separate toaster. On sitting at our table, there was no knives or forks, we had to wait a good 5 minutes for the overworked staff member to supply us with cutlery, by which time our cooked breakfast was almost cold, and along with a single coffee left us amazed at quite how disorganised the breakfast set up was. They offered to remake it for me which I was appreciative about, however the second one came out even worse! Some parts I couldn’t even cut as it was hard in some areas and then really wet and slimey in others! My partners steak wasn’t anything special either. I asked for the bill, I explained that I’d happily pay for the chips i ate and everything else but please could they not charge me for the chicken parm as it was inedible. She said she’d have to get her manager, that was fine. Except no one knew where she was so we were sat waiting and in the end we paid for the whole bill but both left feeling very dissatisfied. The waitress was very apologetic but also stated how this is a popular dish and no one else has had a problem, which made it seem like I was lying. But my partner wouldn’t even try it to see if I was being picky as he said it looked gross and he didn’t want to risk getting sick! Firstly the food, the menu is a mix of traditional pub and classic Indian restaurant and I have to say it works really well. The starters were excellent and the portion sizes were generous. I selected it based on the reviews of other but was a little disappointed with the flavour of the food. We were originally placed on table next to the toilets / even though the place was practically empty. We asked to move, which we did. We had pompadoms and they came with 3 dips. What a mistake, can no longer recommend. Our party included Mum in wheelchair and 11yr old nephew. Both love chocolate cake but the cakes (crumbly squares cut from large cakes) included Victoria sponge and ginger. So many people don't like ginger, including several in our party. A plate of tiny sandwiches was waiting on the take when we arrived, the tea also included two types of scone (plain and sultana). Only the plain scones were edible, the sultana scones were so bitter as to be inedible. Waiter (sniffling constantly, not a good look when serving food) took one untouched sultana scone back to chef and returned to proudly tell us that the texture had changed because chef heated them in the microwave. Just two issues with this: we had not complained about the texture as that did not make then inedible, only disappointing. But: chef heated scones in a microwave? Really? And, secondly - why did chef not taste the scone to try and work out what the issue was? They really did taste toxic. Shall not return for a third visit unless we hear things have vastly improved. Food don’t show up staff rude and don’t care. DO NOT USE. This is and was a genuine review of our experience. The food did not turn up and the staff in the restaurant were rude to us and you, the manager, didn't really care about resolving the problem... We waited 30 to 40 minutes for our food and when the driver arrived, who was very polite and apologetic realised that you hadn't given him our order, which I was very understanding about because I know mistakes can happen and didn't have any issues with him. My issue is with how you managed the situation thereafter, we called you immediately and we were told to wait and somebody would call us back, not the best start. we called back in 3 to 4 minutes and were told you would need to cook the food again, which is fine and we would need to wait 1/2 hr because the driver was making other deliveries, which again was not ideal, but we were willing to wait another 1/2 hr. What I wasn't happy about is you were only prepared to reduce the price by £10.00. I didn't ask for the food to be given to us free of charge and I didn't expect you to deliver freshly cooked food to us within 10 minutes. What I asked for was £20.00 discount for the inconvenience and because we were loyal customers and have spent £100's with you over the last year I thought this was more than reasonable. Unfortunately, you didn't agree with me and you clearly don't think that looking after loyal customers is worthwhile to your business. Original, Louisiana rub and BBQ are the best flavours and the ‘Full Flavour Fix’ is a good deal to try a few. The staff at the till are really helpful and polite and the staff clearing the tables are efficient (great to see it’s pretty clean for such a busy place!) If I’m being extra picky then the drinks machine could use a clean from sticky chicken fingers. There is always a queue when we go here, which is fine as the food is worth the wait, however there are a few issues with the ambience in this restaurant. The music is way too loud, you can’t sustain any conversation over it. The lights are also too bright - however I think this is a brand design choice for their intended customer profile. Funnily enough it does somewhat feel like you’re in a gym. There are a lot of groups of teenagers and children in the restaurant, most of which aren’t actually eating or haven’t ordered any food which makes it slightly awkward to get a table to dine in. Regardless, we will always be back for our sweet potato lemon pepper fries fix!
