Booked table for 3pm but wasn't seated immediately as our table wasn't ready. Even though we chose our food whilst waiting at the bar and ordered as soon as we were seated, we still didn't receive food until well after 4pm. Quite a few items we wanted had sold out and not all elements of 1 meal were available. Our server, Ella, was extremely apologetic and made acceptable replacements for the unavailable items. Although all the staff seemed to be under considerable pressure, they were all friendly, helpful and cheerful. The food we had was really good quality and very tasty. Much to our disappointment we found out that they had recently changed the chef and changed the menu. Instead of fine dining we were now offered an Indian fusion with influence from Japan. Frankly it was more confusion than fusion cuisine. The previous chef had produced food of a high-quality and standard, which was why we were happy to return for a special meal. The first course of bang bang duck salad was tasteless and the duck was pale and bland. The presentation of the food was no longer delicate and of a level that you would expect in a fine dining institution. One of the main courses of steak was so bad that we sent it back. The other beef dish braised beef was edible but not great, and I certainly didn't eat all of it. The braised beef was accompanied by a potato rosti which seemed to be more glass noodle than potato. The food combinations were strange and were not well executed. The level of cooking from the chef does not meet the expectations or the level that you would expect for a dining experience at this level and at this price point. I note that prices have actually increased since our last visit but the quality has decreased. Regular diners take note this will no longer be what you expected. The appointment of the chef is a big mistake on behalf of the management. It's such a shame that such a lovely venue is no longer an option for me until there is a another change of chef because I will not be returning to eat food until the management bring back conventional fine dining.

There used to be lashings of gorgeous beef, two yorkshire puds and great trimmings including cauliflower cheese. It seems now the management has decided to cover a year’s inflation by seriously short changing their customers on the portion size and meat quality. The photos tell the story, almost exactly a year apart, a tiny portion of beef cut so thin you can almost see the pattern on the plate through it, pallid potatoes and the cauliflower cheese is now an additional side dish at £5.50 Far better quality roast dinners available almost anywhere for the same price so this is an unbelievably short sighted and stupid move by Silvermere. The rest of the menu is general pub and fried food which we can get at far better quality locally, so I really cant see us going back. You will see from my other reviews that I am almost always writing to praise a venue, so it takes a lot of disappointment to make me write a bad review.

When we have been seated for a table 5-6 weeks ago, and arrived with two babies requiring high chairs this seemed to throw them completely despite the restaurant being empty… and we were given quite the cold shoulder. Service was slow and items were forgotten. What’s worse than this, if you go for a drink - allow an extra 10 mins for a drink when you order. Every Tom, sally and Harry will be served before you. No apology for the staff. No shame. It’s so frustrating. It’s a shame that it’s our local.

Check in was seamless, and our room was ready even though we were super early. Amelia on reception was outstanding. She was so polite and integrating with us. The hotel is beautifully situated, the room was spotless and had everything we needed. Due to my job and working away. After a long day travelling we booked to have food (Which was fantastic) as I might say this is our third time staying in this lovely Hotel. We arrived back to the hotel at around 21:00 and started to settle down the the night but was unable to due to the Party going on Below us. The music was so loud that our room was shaking and the Lamp shades moving. (No problem with the party just maybe they should not sell rooms that are directly effected by the noise) My wife went down at around 21:30 to ask if we could me moved rooms due to the noise. We was told “No” by the gentleman as they were fully booked. He was not very polite in the matter as told us we would have to wait till around 23:00. We was unable to relax that night and enjoy our night away which we had paid for. On check out we spoke to a lady and told her of our concerns and that we did not have a good night sleep due to the noise (The Party). The lady just apologised that was it. It would have been nice to be offered some sort of compensation/gesture of good will as they were unable to move us rooms. It is a lovely place and lovely food would definitely return again.

As it was a birthday celebration, the hotel gave us the most beautiful room and left a birthday card with some fudge cakes saying happy birthday. I did order the rose petals and deluxe room to face the race track but the hotel ensured that it was the best deluxe room so we was extremely grateful. Waking up to the sound of cars racing right outside our window whilst laying in bed was honestly so exciting! The hotel itself is very clean and beautiful, customer service was amazing at the reception, the cleaners were super kind and friendly, as well as the staff at the restaurant and spa. The restaurant served the most delicious food for an affordable price during breakfast lunch and dinner. There was also live music in the evening and next day during lunch. The spa had many facilities that were clean and nice. Overall, an amazing amazing time! Last night, walking back to the hotel from the nearest station was about 1.5 miles away, which mostly would have been fine, had it not been for the fact that the entire stretch leading to the hotel (about 800m or so) has no lights making the midnight walk completely pitch black and terryfying. If you are staying here on foot, would highly recommend not staying out after dark as the walk back will be quite bad.
