I was very fortunate to find Peony Inn. From the outside, it looks like a takeaway but as soon as you open the doors it opens to amazing sights a comfortable surroundings. I was swiftly shown to my seat and provided with a large menu to select from. I ordered the Spare ribs with Peaking sauce and crispy seaweed for starters and special fried rice. I had to wait about 5 minutes for my starters. The presentation of the food was lovely and so was the meal itself. The food was well-cooked and tasty. Shortly after finishing my starter my Special fried rice came. I couldn't believe my eyes I think they gave me the extra Special fried rice. The platter was very large, enough for tea people, lucky I was hungry. The sauce and the food were amazing all in all I highly rate Peony Inn and if you're passing, make sure to stop and enjoy the hospitality and amazing food.

So after all these years my missus and I gave it a shot. Ordered chicken satay with chips, special chowmein for husband. Meal arrived prompt and hot. The chicken satay was amazing, good amount of chicken breast and veg and a good amount of sauce. Meal was let down by the chips. These were like rubber and had a fair amount of crispy ends. So this was quite disappointing. They were more like French fries. Not enjoyable with a Chinese meal. The chow mein was awful. Taste wise it was ok. Good amount of meat etc but it was made with thin noodles opposed to the usual thick egg noodles. They were all clumped together and the meal itself was not filling. My husband ate most of my meal to fill himself up. There was no eating in the thin noodles at all. And it just looked like a pile of slop in the dish. Perhaps they should disclose they use the thin type noodles instead of the thick egg ones or give the option of which they would prefer. Probably will order again but not chow mein unless they change the how it's made.

Salt and pepper chicken balls, lemon chicken, chicken noodle soup and quarter roast duck. We enjoyed very much and got good portions for a reasonable price.
