Fairways were baked, fast & running. Greens were well watered but fast. Pretty much every fairway has slopes in it and, with the dry weather, l couldn't cope with them ! Good looking tee shots ended up running into trees, bunkers or hazards. A bit frustrating for me although others in our group recorded good stableford scores. Also, some of the directional signage from one green to the next tee (which was sometimes a good walk away) was poor. Did l enjoy it - not really. Would l go back - probably not.

We were staying at Forest of Dean for a week and decided to go here on a whim and it was such a good choice! Best service I have ever recieved, the staff were so lovely and friendly and you weren't waiting long at all. The food arrived hot and quickly. I had midweek roast and my husband had toad under the hole. It was all very well presented and the food tasted superb! I honestly don't have a bad word to say about it. Dessert was also lovely. The prices were cheap too for what you are getting I am so used to paying higher London prices. Another great addition was the dogs in the pub which are so friendly. We were staying in the local area and had been told about this restaurant but didn’t look it up first and stupidly didn’t book! It was busy, however, we weren’t turned away we were offered the garden which we took as it was a nice evening. The menus looked a little pricey but we were hungry and when the food arrived it was clear this was going to be an excellent meal. Thoughtful staff then came out to let us know that a table had become free inside as it was getting chilly so we had our main course inside. I think this was one of the best meals we have ever had at a pub. The menu was not large but this often means the food will be better and it was absolutely superb and worth every penny we paid. Portion sizes perfect. The service was second to none and they didn’t automatically slap on a service charge, but we added one of course. Atmosphere was great and staff were friendly and worked so hard. Please do book a table you won’t be disappointed.

Found this gem on Google 1/11. Most other pubs were busy with fireworks or full So happy we found it. Easy to find, plenty of parking. The restaurant in the anex is cute, perfect temperature. Staff were all friendly. Service was prompt & most importantly the food was great. I had beetroot & goats cheese salad off the specials board, hubby had wild boar saus & mash, dgtr had scampi & s.i.l had chicken new yorker. There was nothing left on any of our plates. Girls also fitted in deserts, pancakes & syrup. There was 2 issues with pudding, being lactose free, despite saying no icecream, we were given it so had to refuse. Then it came swimming in a sea of syrup. The bottom pancake was not edible. I think they should supply a small gravy boat on the plate to add own measures at leisure. We will be going back as soon many nice things on the menu.

From the outside it doesn’t look much but don’t be put off by first impressions. As soon as you walk in you are welcomed by extremely friendly staff who can’t do enough, even bringing your drinks to you in the garden. The food is fantastic, all locally sourced ingredients extremely well cooked and reasonably priced for a gastro pub. We had the venison pie which was superb and piping hot. Our room was very tastefully decorated with everything you need for a good stay. The bed was very comfortable and we were woken in the morning by the sound of wild sheep wandering around in the back garden. The breakfast was cooked to order and superb, enough to keep you going for a good part of the day. The king room and breakfast at £105 was extremely good value. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it.

Got served at the bar by Carol, had a drink whilst we looked over the menu and then ordered 2 cheese and bacon burgers. Our table was set in 5 minutes, then our food came out in about 15 minutes. The burger was huge and delicious and the onion rings were huge and one of the best I've ever had. Lovely atmosphere, great staff, great drinks and excellent value for money. We spent the weekend there and on Sunday evening it was a struggle to find somewhere to eat as there's limited places. Found this little gem and gave them a call and the lady that answered was lovely. A good five minutes later we were sat on this pub and the same lady gave us the Menu and we ordered a small feast. The Garlic Mushroom with Focaccia bread was hearty and fragrant. The topside beef was tender and perfectly cooked and went really well with the gravy and my partner's mushroom risotto was rich and earthy! We also ordered a cauliflower cheese and that too was pretty great, albeit a tad bit mushy. An evening well spent and an awesome end to our weekend! It’s a finger Buffett! A lot of very elderly people was present and we were extremely took back from the staff bluntness and rudeness. We never got given any cutlery. We catered for 35 however we had more people come which we was told by staff when we booked that they do an ample Buffett so for us not to worry. The 35 plates which they put out ran out and people were waiting. My husband asked at the bar for some more plates and was told again bluntly we only catered for 35! And No! There was ample food so this should not have been an issue. My husband said this to the lady and she went off not happy at all, after a while more plates came out. We would probably not choose to come here again for a wake, we found the waiting and bar staff rude. This was an extremely upsetting time and we should not have had any upset.

This Italian restaurant within a standalone building serves up and impressive range of foods that cater to a myriad of dietary preferences and intolerances. Among them include gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan options. While there is no gluten free pizza base, there was the option (clearly labeled) to exchange regular pasta for gluten free pasta. I personally did not do this, as the gluten free pasta option was penne, of which I am not a fan (especially if the dish usually calls for an entirely different shape). I do appreciate the inclusion, however. I was told the (gluten filled) carbonara was good, but the bacon used wasn’t good what they preferred. I ordered the Stinco Di Agnello (slow cooked lamb shank) which was naturally flourless (and also asked for it to made for a gluten sensitive individual). This was accommodated without any issues. The lamb itself was cooked beautifully; it practically fell off the bone. The sauce and vegetables were also delicious, albeit a bit salty, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and finished every last bit of it. Overall, Amici is probably the best restaurant in Coleford. I appreciate their ability and easier to cater to a wide variety of diners, and you should definitely check it out if you’re in the area!

If you want to wait 3 hours for your food use the website, if you want it in 20 minutes just ring up. They need more veggie options, they dont even do a veggie burger! Called for a pizza and wanted an exra topping on half of it, the woman on the phone didnt know how to do that so said we had to have it on the whole pizza or none of it or order an extra pizza so this will be our last order from here. Never known a pizza place that cant do a half pizza topping, Milanos used to do them no problem but apparently cant/wont now. My 9 year old can manage making a pizza with a topping on only half of it so how can a pizza place fail at this? You literally just sprinkle sweetcorn on half instead of all of it, its not hard, the woman just didnt want to bother herself even in the slightest, there are other places in Coleford that are much more keen to give the customer what they want, even if it does take the person taking orders an extra 2 seconds of effort to write it down.
