Nestled in the heart of downtown Gainesville, this place has clearly earned its reputation among the competitive restaurant scene. We snagged seats at the bar, and even with the chaos of a busy music festival weekend the service was impressively fast and efficient. The staff never seemed flustered, and our orders came out quickly without sacrificing quality. The food itself exceeded all expectations. The sushi rolls were beautifully presented with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the gyoza were perfectly crispy with a flavorful filling. What really impressed us was that the kitchen maintained such excellent standards despite the restaurant being slammed. Too often, busy nights mean compromised quality, but Dragonfly proved they can handle the pressure. If they can deliver this level of food and service during one of the busiest weekends in Gainesville, they’ve more than earned their spot as a downtown favorite.

I ordered the chicken expecting a fine dining experience type meal ie small artful delicious food my chicken breast was massive the flavor was good but the size of the breast made the meat tough and dry even though it was brined and stuffed with goat cheese. My suggestion is to move to a smaller breast size like a 7oz and actually hammer the meat stuff it then roll it to a more pleasing appearance and fine dineable size. Half the meat was too dry and hard on the surface due to over cooking. The lemon pepper sauce was all over my plate, making my delicious sides way too sweet to enjoy. In the past, I have had gravy soak all my sides until the fries were no longer crisp, and the other sides didn't taste as good. Their way of cooking is different than most southern cooking (home and restaurant style). I don't know why it always makes me feel sick and bloated, but it really doesn't have to. I have tried lighter options and vegan options and I still have a problem with it's heavyness and overload of sauce/gravy. Another problem I have is that they are constantly running out of their main dishes. Last time, they didn't have any dark meat chicken, pork chops, or chicken wings (it was only 1pm). Okra is always gooey and soggy. Vegan Mac and cheese has no taste, no salt, so disgusting it made me gag (and I love vegan cheese). The only good things left and the mashed potatoes and I did enjoy the lemon pepper tofu, but that was so soggy it stopped being crispy like advertised. In all, I've visited about six times, and the last two have been so bad, I will never go back. I love reggae shack, so I am confused why it's sister restaurant is lacking so badly. Everything is spicier than it should be, the BBQ is so hot I would not recommend it for kids. I've never had spicy pulled pork until I ate it here. They definitely try to put a spin on southern food and it seems like a lot of people don't enjoy it. I have seen a lot of reviews very similar to mine about it.

She got my order quickly, I had the Bissell Breakfast, which I highly, highly recommend, and I had coffee before I knew it which never got less than half full before she was topping me off. The gator was good but a spicy ranch or even just cocktail sauce would have been better. I ordered a full rack of ribs and let me tell you, they were great!!! Fall off the bone and very flavorful. Their garlic mashed potatoes tasted perfect as well. My gf ordered a Greek salad and it's a pretty nice portion and presented very well. Always looked me the eyes when interacting which I think just goes to her professionalism, probably in all walks of life. Now the bad. I ordered a Western Omelet, my go-to whenever trying a new restaurant which came out with an English Muffin and a side of home fries. The Omelet, although full of all the main ingredients of a Western Omelet, just had no flavor to it. Very bland. The home fries amount were minimal, see photo, were lukewarm, and consisted of several burnt pieces and what seemed to be left over remnants of whatever was left over back in the kitchen. The English Muffin looked like it had been toasted, but was basically raw, if you will. Sam promptly replaced that item and I'm sure would have replaced the home fries if I'd asked, but I figured I was pretty much done with my meal by then so why bother. Can't recommend Peach Valley Cafe for the food based on what I ordered, maybe they get some dishes right, but would definitely check out anywhere my waitress was working as long as it's not this restaurant.

Philly Benedict is not worth it, too much Philly ( not cooked well) with egg ( just one) ruined by the worst acidic hollandaise sauce ever. Their famous home fries were burnt and too crispy , I can't imagine that was intentional. Also, not a good look to sit people next to were you store take out boxes, which is also close to the bathrooms. Pass, there's better places in town. Or just go to a gas station for coffee.

The salad bar is again resplendent with fresh ingredients, and you will have no shortage of options to load up your plate. The garlic knots: You can always judge a pizza place by their knots. We found excellent Chicago style deep dish pizza. Cooked perfectly. Great crust. Fresh ingredients! The garlic knots were absolutely amazing. Good local draft beer and the wine was reasonably priced. The place was packed and finding a parking spot was harder than finding a wonky golden ticket. We like to be informal and sat at the bar, they weren’t super busy so we had our pick of seats which was happy! The bartender was lovely! My favorite is the Monte Cristo which is like a Grill Cheese sandwich on Overdrive.
