And the pretzel bites were warm and soft on the inside, I will say I didn’t like how much butter was put on them. It was a lot of butter but the cheese sauce served with them was also really good. The main course we split a YellowStone burger and it was really good. The brisket on it was solid and the burger meat well seasoned not overcooked and a good size. It wasn’t a monster burger. We had ours with regular fries, which weren’t house made but still good and a very large portion. Dessert we had a Carmel brownie cheesecake and it was just okay. It was dense, sweet, very rich. The pizza was absolutely the best I probably have ever had as far as taco pizza is concerned. It was so delicious! The gentleman who took my order was super friendly and helpful, answered a few questions I had since it was my first time there. My girlfriend and I very much enjoyed the meal. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing. High energy, just a fun, friendly feeling in the air. Apparently it's kind of a family/kids type place. Twice while we were there, birthdays were announced and the entire restaurant was asked to sing happy birthday to the birthday people. The first was a young guy, maybe late teens or early 20s, the second was a 4 year old girl. Their respective waitresses tooted loud horns to get our attention and made the announcement and request to sing, and most of us did. It was pretty fun! The men's room was very clean. I didn't have my 2 year old granddaughter with me this day, but it was nice to see that if I had, and she needed a diaper change, there is a changing station in the men's room. That's becoming more common overall, but many independent restaurants like this one still haven't added them to men's rooms so it's always nice to see. I will definitely be coming back here again. I don't care if I have to come alone, I need to try other menu items. I said my granddaughter is 2, but technically she will be 2 in January. Perhaps I'll try talking her parents into celebrating it here. That way I can introduce this place to several more people at the same time. If not, I'll still be back. The tables are nicely decorated with linen tablecloths and a lit was candle. Jim ordered the New York Strip and I got the Shrimp Scampi. Our waitress brought out a personal size loaf of freshly baked bread with whipped butter, a cracker basket and small containers of ham salad, egg salad and cheese sauce. We did not order this but it was standard for all tables. The food was delicious and we did not have room for dessert. I didn't particularly like the fact that we had to ask the table next to us to get up from their dinner so I could get out from the corner. I think they could utilize their space better for the dining room by taking out a short wall to open up the dining area we were in. Also I think the coat room can be repurposed and use it in a better way. It just looks like wasted space that could be reworked. I am not a professional decorator or general contractor but it is just some opinions I have. Overall, I thought it was a nice place to eat but it did not have the Wow factor to drive to back to Dubuque and eat there again.

The pulled pork had very little sauce they did have a gallon pump jug available that was cold and therefore I did not want to add it to my hot sandwich. the mac and cheese was a very hard downright rock like. clearly they had no concern with quality or freshness it was just served out like nothing. it was really a shame because I was very much looking forward to some barbecue. after this visit I will never be returning. I just wish I could give it no stars.

They should have juice pouring out and they should be red to pink in the middle. Well cut it up and made sandwiches with the rolls out of it. It just so happened the manger stopped by the table and he was shocked to see how well do e the steak was and even offered to have a new one made. I am not one that wanted to see a $30 steak hit the trash can so I declined his offer, but did, without asking, knock some money off the bill. Oh and we got some hot fresh rolls to take home.

Wanted to give it my fair try to the local take. Price wise, it is a tad cheaper, but they're all good value honestly. Had a few less toppings available compared to it's chain restaurant competition. I think you get a similar amount of toppings too. I didn't think their sauces (marinara and Alfredo I tried) were quite as pungent, but decent enough to do the trick. Their ranch was lackluster, but better than bottled. Crust is thin, but didn't get as crispy as I'd hoped. I think there's not much room for error between undercooked and burnt, but I wish it was more cooked rather than less. Toppings were all about average, but I appreciated the ones that were more diced up so they could be in more bites. I enjoyed the pizza as a whole, but wouldn't write home about it. But I enjoyed supporting the local business, and the customer service was quite good. Vibe of the restaurant is a bit plain, but accommodating. Just doesn't add to it so to speak. For a business with salsa in the name it's perplexing. But to be fair it may not be completely their fault. I don't think Dubuque is the capital of flavor town. The residents of this scenic city may not have a tolerance for flavourful salsa. I noticed a chalk board sidewalk sign that announced pork chops as the daily special. Either there's a multiple personality disorder or this poor restaurant is trying so hard to adapt to the clientele of the region. I digress. Guilty. The cheese dip again was very very bland in a way I can't compare. No bite, no kick, not even one bit. As if it was adapted for infants. My entree arrived which was chock full of vegetables with few appearances of the chopped steak that was promised in the menu. This may be what the fine folks of Dubuque are into. But I can't resist informing those from other places who are expecting something quite different and far superior.

They have some real home runs and it’s mostly good but they do have a few misses. If you get something you don’t like, try something else because it is hit or miss. Their acai bowls, pastries, protein oats, black coffee, overnight oats and some lunch items are home runs in my opinion. I like the quesadilla and I add egg for example. Some of the hot breakfast items have been a miss for me. The panini & the burrito are a bit bland so just add some spice/hot sauce. The bread of the panini is a serious miss. I have had it 2x in 6 months and both experiences were the same. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt maybe it was just a bad day. The bread is so hard and chewy it was hard to bite or chew my sandwich. I took my sandwich home and used my own bread. Some items on their menu deserve 5 stars. Some deserve 2. For this reason I gave the food an average of 3. I will continue to go to Charolette's and love it and recommend it I just need to be careful about what I order.
