The food and service were phenomenal! Here's a rundown of our experience (including beverage and food selections): For drinks, my husband ordered the Bust a Rut and I had the Manhattan, both were fantastic. For our appetizer, we ordered the Tuna Poke (photo attached...though it’s half-eaten because we were so excited to eat it that we forgot to take a photo at first) and it was honestly the best tuna poke we’ve ever had. For our shared entree, we ordered The Carnivore, which included elk striploin, filet mignon, cheddar game sausage, and broccolini. It looked so incredible that we started eating before I could even get a photo, so no photo of that amazing meal, but it was beautifully plated and absolutely delicious. We ate every bite. We added a side of mac and cheese, which was also full of flavor. I believe our waitress’s name was Nina (from Argentina). She was so sweet and attentive, even during the busy hours of a Saturday night on a holiday weekend! Highly recommend Bird & Jim (and Nina!) because everything we ordered and the service was amazing. Also, considering how BUSY the restaurant was, I was very thankfully the hostess was able to seat us 30-minutes before our reservation, since we arrived a tad too early AND that Nina was so attentive while all tables were full of other patrons. So as you can tell, great experience all around and we'll definitely be returning on our next trek up the canyon from NoCo!

Food looks good but tastes blander than microwave pasta. Menu on their website do not match with their current menu. The wait list is extremely disorganized. Giving a 5star because it deserved it, but wish I could do 1/2. 4.5 because I did have one of the worst mules I’ve ever had and the bartender at the bar was very rude. But still a 5 over a 4 in my book.

I promise, this is one of those places that turns a meal into a memory. We had the pleasure of dining here on July 4th, and it ended up being one of the best nights of our entire trip. From the second we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. The smells coming out of that kitchen were incredible! Bishwa, our host, was a total standout. He was kind, engaging, and clearly passionate about making guests feel welcome. He seated us on the outdoor patio, which is shaded, lined with flower barrels, and absolutely perfect for dining al fresco. He made sure we had one of the best seats for watching the fireworks later that night (seriously, the best view). He stopped by several times to check in, share local stories, and even offered to bring over the sommelier when we mentioned switching from cocktails to wine. His energy really set the tone for the whole night. Victoria, the sommelier, was amazing. So passionate and knowledgeable about wine!. I loved the people who worked there, the girls/guys who helped and the food was really good! I came often, and the place was always packed! This is the first time I've been back since the new owners took over in the spring/summer of this year, and what a huge change, a disappointing one, to say the least. I ordered a house salad with sliced chicken, and a cup of tomato basil soup. First let me say that while the portion of salad was huge, the lettuce was all on the bottom in large pieces (which required continuous cutting, a feat difficult to do when all the toppings are loaded on the top) and all the carrots, cheese, ham slices, and chicken were all on the top. It came with two little teeny plastic cups of salad dressing which couldn't even get to the lettuce due to everything on top of it. There was no way at all to get to any of the lettuce below all of this, and because the lettuce pieces were so large, they required cutting to be able to eat, which was impossible to do when the bowl was filled with so much of the toppings. Second off, I don't know what kind of chicken was used but it had a terrible taste, like it had been store-bought from a freezer. The taste was very off, almost like plastic. This means to me it was bought frozen from somewhere and then thawed out. The pieces of ham were wrapped pieces and required cutting, but there was no room to cut anything in the bowl. If the ranch dressing was homemade, it too, had a terrible flavor. I finally got tired of fighting with everything just to try to eat. The tomato basil soup? It came out cold. I politely asked the waiter if they could reheat it. There was no problem in doing so, however the few croutons that were placed on top of the soup, became soggy yet tough upon microwaving the soup. We come dine there every year for dinner and sit at the bar. The bartenders are great and the food is very good quality. They must have an amazing chef. -Hotel Grounds - very nicely kept up patio with views of Grand Lake. Fire Pit at night both inside and outside! OK lets talk about the CONS -Pool and hot tub amenity are absolutely gross. Either they were dirty or needed to be bleached. We wanted to go into the hot tub but it looked absolutely disgusting. The pool was not any better. They said the pool was heated but we never tried it because it just wasnt clean. -Service. You are at a 2 STAR HOTEL dont expect any poolside service or trash pick up. There was a wedding there the first night and the next morning trash all over the patio / fire pit area. Empty glasses, tissues, ect. I would have thought they would have had a cleaning crew up early to pick up after the wedding..... -JUPE - we stayed in the Jupe. We camp a lot and enjoy the outdoors but felt like it was very overpriced. Your sleeping on an air mattress that has a blanket and pillow on it. In a tent that doesnt close up properly. All 4 sides of the tent were open to the ground which I thought was odd. Our own tent keeps bugs and critters out but these do not. They offer heated blankets which are a nice touch but thats about it. Oh, it had a "wooden" headboard. -JUPE Outside Bathrooms. These were not temp controlled so if you needed to shower do it before it gets cold. There is no towel pick up and the towels they gave us were dirty so we asked for more. The new ones had stains on them as well...GROSS. There are no hooks or anything to hang items on when in the bathroom and from the looks of them I dont think they were cleaned each day as the toilet paper was out in one for both days and towels on the floor. Lets be real you could go CAMP at Taylor Lake with better amenities than what Grand Lake had for $50 a night. Nicer bathrooms and really clean tents/glamping facilities. Dont waste $200 a night on the JUPES AT GRAND LAKE LODGE. Stay in Grand Lake or Camp inside the park and stop at Grand Lake for dinner!

Across the street is a parking lot and public bathrooms and which during the day time it can be tricky to find a spot for both. Now, to talk about MollyB Restaurant. When we got there there was not a long wait time before we got seated 😄. I ordered the Turkey Club and I must say, " it has been the best tasting one I ever had" . My husband had the Ruben sandwich and he enjoyed his also. The french fries were very tasty. And the wait for the food wasn't bad either. We sat outside and it was fun to watch other people get seated and people driving by on the street but most of all, I got the view of the mountains. Nice to get away from the crowed town. Very much enjoyed the history of the hotel and learning more about it. As far as tours go, there are lots and lots of options! I do recommend that you book in advance, especially if it's a weekend. We came midweek and actually finished up our sightseeing early and popped in to see if we could get on an earlier tour. They were very accommodating and were able to move our tour to an earlier time slot. They do have a great whiskey bar, a chocolate store, and a fantastic gift shop. Definitely lots to see and take in here. They do encourage photography on the tour but video is not allowed.

To the staff's credit, Vegas moved us with no issue into a much better room with no hassle. There is no AC , a known issue they openly tell you about. However, the heat didnt work either and it was in the low 30's in the morning. We were offered a space heater. Water pressue was also poor. The place is old and I get that, but you can't have it both ways. Four star hotels have heat and decent water pressure. Overall, this place is worth a visit, have drinks and dinner and check the place out. If you love the ghost tourism stuff, this is going to be your jam. For my wife and I, this was not the experience we had hoped for, at this price, for an anniversary trip. I would look elsewhere in Estes Park for a luxury experience.
