I’m usually a 5* reviewer and love giving good reviews, however we didn’t have a great experience. Firstly we ordered a glass of Merlot which was totally stale (and at $17.50 per glass we weren’t happy to let it slide), when we asked for a fresh glass the waitress told us the bottle was opened this morning- curious because the restaurant isn’t open in the morning and who’s ordering Merlot for breakfast? They then proceeded to pour us a fresh glass which tasted great. But only after stating how the manager had tasted the stale wine and thought it tasted the same as the fresh wine? If it was my restaurant and the wine was stale I’d just apologise take the glass and bring a fresh one, it’s awkward enough without a debate. This first part of the evening was unfortunate but I wouldn’t normally rate any less for this as mistakes happen. Moving on, we had some pittas and dips to start which was nice with some delicious flavours, and I also had the skewers as a main. Unfortunately the skewers were raw, the lamb was totally charred on the outside but raw on the inside not sure if it was perhaps taken from the freezer straight to the grill. Anyway after the awkward complaint about the wine we didn’t want to complain again and left without dessert. The Massaman beef was watery, with beef so tough it may as well have been jerky. The Thai beef salad was more leaves than meat. The chicken satay was drier than sand, and the portions were tiny. Even my 16-year-old nephew didn’t finish his dinner. And he eats anything. For $182, what we got was beyond disappointing. If I’d been dining in, I would’ve asked for a refund. Because it was takeaway, I’ve just learnt a lesson, hence the review. I was going to order dessert, but this business won’t be getting another dollar from me. To add insult to injury, the gentleman taking the phone order and at pickup was uninviting and grumpy, which really stood out because the other staff were actually welcoming and helpful.

The hostess Tilly was just gorgeous, smiley and wonderful with the kids. She instantly provided colouring in and sharp pencils (trust me it’s a big deal, they are always blunt and broken at restaurants!). She knew the menu and happily advised meal recommendations. The whitebait was amazing as an entree! Seafood trio was piping hot and fresh. The prawns were sensational. They customised a cocktail for me and then finished the night with the best baklava I have ever tasted. Chicken Supreme at dinner was good & excellently presented. Desserts are lovely & not too overly sweet, how we like it. Great tropical feel & ambience around the pools & flaming torch lights. However the steak game really needs improving - the lunch Black Angus, while cooked ok, was a cheap cut with lots of fat & tendon & the kitchen forgot the gravy. Also presented a bit like a pub meal than something befitting a 5 star hotel. Steak issues don't seem isolated, with another patron at dinner on a separate night needing to talk to the manager about the poor quality of his Wagyu rump. Prices on the dinner menu online also don't match the onsite menus & need updating. Staff was also a bit mixed. Highest marks to server Alain at dinner with his excellent service, & Sidra, the young lady running lunch at the Lagoon Bar all by herself! Unfortunately some of the other servers seem to be working tourists who definitely fall short of expectations for a 5 star hotel, & need more training. Specific issues to address - tables left waiting >10 min without menus or water until we had to flag someone down for them, forgetting to take drink orders on return, & one forgetting to provide any cutlery. TL;DR - good but some areas fall short of a 5 star hotel; steaks & some staff need improving

The people that work here are the highlight of my stay in Pullman Palm Cove. They are hard working and accomodating to everybody. Dinner was definitely one of the best I’ve had during my trip. Lots of flavour and the House Wine Moscato was so good, we did not regret having the whole bottle! The menu has vast number of options to choose from. The pricing is on the luxury side, however the quality of the food matches the price itself. Breakfast was also good - not extremely great, as there’s nothing unique about it. It’s your typical Australian breakfast from your local cafés. I just think that their coffee needs more improvement. Cocktails are well mixed. The service was warm and friendly, but the food… oh my… the food! It was absolutely mind-blowing! Between the five of us, we ordered a range of different dishes, and honestly, picking a favourite had been nearly impossible. I had to try the oysters and their yuzu sorbet oyster was a cracking start. Fresh, sweet and unique. So good! Then came the showstopping scallops arrived, which packed such an incredible flavour punch we thought for sure they’d be hard to beat. But then, the wagyu… I started out with the wagyu tataki (amazing in its own right), but when the wagyu skewers hit the table… tender, flavourful, and perfectly cooked, they instantly stole the night. We loved them so much we ordered another round, and they still disappeared before anyone could snap a photo! The pork belly also deserves a solid mention though. Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It was an EXTREMELY close rival to the wagyu skewers for the table favourite! The nigiri was fresh and tasty, though not especially standout compared to the other dishes. We had ordered it for our sushi loving 6yr old who then proceeded to eat the salmon off the top, leaving the rice and instead stealing my wagyu and pork belly (who could blame him). Any sushimi was fresh and a pleasure to eat. The warm mochi to finish up was also beautifully presented, though the flavour wasn’t quite to my personal taste. Great dessert if you like mochi and don’t want something too sweet. As for the venue, we hadn’t been before, but the newly renovated deck is nice and spacious. It’s a bit stark in terms of décor, but the beachfront location tends to make up for that. Just a tip, it can get windy, and since there are no café blinds for protection, bring a jacket if you’re heading there on a breezy night. All in all, an unforgettable dining experience that lived up to (and maybe even exceeded) the years of hype. Can’t wait to go back! Thank you Kushi!

Between the 3 of us there's normally 1 or 2 who are happy and sometimes all 3 of us are. But today none of us rated the meals highly. The prices weren't cheap so it's disappointing to pay a considerable sum and come away disappointed. We had 2 service staff, a male & a female. The man was a charming, young-ish western European fellow who was good & the woman a young-ish western European lady who was not. My friend thought she was haughty which I thought was a bit strong but she wasn't exactly a warm & friendly service oriented type. As an aside I tried the hot chocolate, as I tend to do when I can. The milk tasted "thin" and there wasn't a lot of foam, two things I look for (I mean I want the milk to have body and I like a good amount of foam). The milk felt thin when I used a spoon but it tasted better when I drank it from the cup.

Well….it is Palm Cove I suppose, where even a smile costs more than in other less salubrious locations. The menu was not huge but that’s to be expected in a breakfast, coffee and brunch kind of place. It is however a tad pretentious and when we got our plates that became even more obvious. We were seated, given menus and then provided with iced water. All good! To kick things off our illustrious chauffeur picked a hot chocolate. When it came it looked appealing, had apparently a ‘nice flavour’ but was ‘too thin and without much froth’. These are, according to our driver, very important markers to gauge the quality of his beverage. I defer to his considerations because the last time I had a hot chocolate I was twelve and being tucked into bed by matron (don’t ask - long story)! He also ordered the Short Rib Breakfast Burger ($30.00) which came with Slaw, pickles, American style cheese 🙄, egg and Chimichurri. It also came with an attempt at a potato Pave which was a bit mushy inside and lacking seasoning. According to him the dish looked better than it tasted. I could see him trying to cut away the fat which, personally, is one of the reasons I like short rib. The slaw looked fine but since it was a vegetable, that was pushed out of the way. The bun ended up looking pretty soggy and miserable and he left a lot of it on the plate. So….no, it really wasn’t his cup of tea so to speak. Angelika chose the Smoked Mushroom and Four Cheese Flatbread ($28.00) which had a mouse of porcini and Ricotta, braised leek, scamorza (a semisoft cheese typical of southern Italy that's made like mozzarella), and Gorgonzola. The mouse was a trifle under-seasoned but the leek was very good. The only slight issue was that the Gorgonzola was a touch too strong but that really is a matter of taste. She finished the lot but while it was enjoyable, it wasn’t a destination dish. I picked the Pork Belly Omelet ($29.00) which came with a slice of toasted cornbread. The omelet was made ‘tornado style’ using a pair of chopsticks to twirl it into shape sitting on the aforementioned corn bread. Perched on top was a slewed of pork belly. The meat was well flavoured and the fat rendered down to a delicious stickiness. The omelet was properly cooked if a little too long. The cornbread was well made and would have been a great foil for the egg and pork but, dammit….way too sweet for my taste. Thank the kitchen gods for Tabasco which I liberally doused the sweetness into oblivion. The Garage is a nice venue but it tries too hard to be novel. It’s a pity because they’re not far from getting it right. The plating is attractive and service was pretty good though….as a suggestion, when a table has drained the iced water, maybe replace it without having to ask. Is the place a bit more expensive than it should be? Perhaps… but it’s Palm Cove and the rents are ridiculously high. Garage is definitely at the modestly priced end of the spectrum. Food to die for? No….but you could do a lot worse in the food scene of Williams Esplanade and that’s actually a compliment! 😁

We annoyingly arrived 30 minutes before our booking time to see if they could seat us and luckily they could. I got the egg on toast with avo and beetroot hommus, and added a hashbrown. The hashbrown I added was so crispy and really nice. My only issue was the egg was overcooked. I personally didn't mind too much, it was still delicious. My partner got the french toast. He said the meal was delicious, however the toast was served with a berry compote and a tropical sorbet, which didn't work. He thought a vanilla or berry ice cream/sorbet would have worked better. He also said there wasn't enough maple syrup, and would have liked it to be on the side so you can add however much you'd like to it. The coffee was good. Just nice, nothing special. We didn't find the staff to be too friendly. They were fine and definitely not rude, but not super approachable. The tables were nicely decorated and the greenery wrapped around the pole in the middle was really asthetic. Menu out the front which is handy. When its raining they have blinds that they close which shields the customers so that is great. Decent prices, breakfast was great and I would come back here despite the few small complaints.

I was inspired to try several different items on the menu over that time - the crushed avocado with cherry tomatoes was my favourite, and the pancakes were also delicious. This place is still just as below in my previous review. Absolute-ly stunning cafe, the staff are the most beautiful people ever. I tip every time I go here because they are just. A league about the rest of the cafes in the area. The coffee is my favourite in the area as-well. Strong delicious coffee. The food has always been impeccable and served with such great presentation.
