I visited The Pasta Bistro with high expectations, especially given the positive ratings carried over from the former Bistro 32. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing on multiple levels.
Service and Treatment of Families
Despite promoting a weekly “Kids Eat Free” event, the restaurant provided only one highchair for families, making it difficult for parents with young children. Staff behaviour towards families was noticeably dismissive and at times rude, which set an uncomfortable tone from the beginning.
Excessive Waiting Time and Poor Customer Care
We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our meals to arrive. When we politely asked to cancel the order after such a long delay, we were refused and told it could not be done. This inflexibility, especially given the unreasonable wait, reflects poorly on customer service.
Food Quality and Handling of Feedback
The meal I received was disappointing, particularly the barramundi, which was heavily over-seasoned with salt. When I expressed my concerns, the chef/owner publicly insulted me in front of my children and friends. This was not only unprofessional but unacceptable behaviour in any hospitality setting.
Several members of our group became unwell after dining, raising concerns of possible food safety issues.
Billing and Unauthorised Gratuity
To add to the experience, a tip was added to the bill without our consent. When we questioned this, we were told it was “normal,” despite the fact that we raised concerns about the food after the first bite. This felt misleading and unethical.

It is disheartening that businesses like this overshadow honest and hardworking hospitality venues. The treatment we received was so distressing that we now feel uncomfortable even walking past the restaurant, out of fear of further insults.

Many diners are likely drawn in by the previous reputation and reviews of Bistro 32, unaware they are now walking into a completely different establishment. This is misleading and unfair to those expecting a pleasant dining experience.
Final Verdict:
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. It is not worth the time, money, or the embarrassment of having to apologise to the people you bring with you. Dining at home would offer better food, comfort, and peace of mind.
