We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was very crowded. They definitely will need more seating because the shakes are big and messy and much better inside. Despite the crowded room it didn’t take long to get our shakes. Unfortunately despite the beautiful look of them we were highly disappointed. All the toppings were fine but the actual milkshake was horrible. It had zero flavor and tasted like a glass of milk watered down with a lot of ice. Not even a little vanilla flavor and the swirls on the inside of the cups were not enough to add any flavor. For $16 a piece I expected more. Too bad because it would have been awesome had it had any kind of flavor to it at all. We did have one of the floats as well and it was fine but it was literally a can of pop poured over some ice cream with whip cream on top. Really nothing to go wrong there.

Nothing real special struck me on the menu that says ‘welcome to the waterfront in Grand Haven’. I defaulted quickly to their blizzard (DQ branded name). Plenty of okay ice cream for the size filled the cup, but there was about 1 teaspoon of fun mixed in. I could barely find it. Overall, the teen staff was nice and quick, although there wasn’t a line whatsoever on a steaming hot day. I was also surprised to see two prices for everything - cash or credit. That’s just odd. If you need to charge a fee for credit to make up the shortfall - bake it in. I’m willing to give Norm’s west another shot, although my first time was a bit blurry like my menu choice pic.
