Very tasty and generous portions too! Staff were a cheerful bunch, our waitress Tia was very pleasant and checked back on us. The restaurant has a nice vibe, music playing, clean too! This time round we did not love it, to start we were sat next to a party, I asked if there was another table available I was told no sorry. We ordered starters one being a sharing starter, this came out with no plates for us to be able to ‘share’ it out, we asked for plates and were given them within a few minutes. Moving on to our steaks, we again ordered the sharing platter with two sides and two sauces and a side of lobster. The meals arrived again no plates to be able to share the platter, we waited thinking maybe they will bring them over with the lobster in the meantime we picked at the chips which were stone cold, we waited for over 5 minutes before we then got up and asked for some plates and to advise our chips were stone cold. The lady quickly went and dried to plates to give us and found our lobster. The steak was inedible and stone cold, the only hot part of our meal were the onion rings. We were looking around for a server to speak to but no one came past to check if our meal was ok if we needed anything drinks etc. We ate the sides and a young boy came over to say ‘are you done’ and collected our boards then another lady came over and asked if we wanted deserts to which we said no thank you, we then were left for over 40 minutes before I got up to speak to the manager, three servers walked past me waiting at the kiosk before one stopped and asked if I was being seen to to which I said no, I asked for the manager she came over I explained the food was inedible minus the starters, the service was appalling, once we started to discuss the service two of the waitresses came over to listen to our conversation and it took myself to say I actually feel uncomfortable with discussing this whilst you have to servers behind you listening to our conversation for her to send them away, I explained we hadn’t been given any attentiveness throughout our meal I wasn’t able to let anyone know our meal wasn’t great because no one was around until a young boy asked ‘are you done’ this is not a cheap restaurant and you would expect the service to be more attentive. The manager said she would love for us to return so she could ensure that we were taken care of, my answer to that was no way! And that we all should of been taken care of the first time not for us to have to complain. If you would like a cold meal and chewy lobster at full price this is your place! If not AVOID.

I found that the food that was going round the tables was thoughtfully and creatively presented. My food when delivered to the table was well presented but not imaginative compared to some of the other dishes. The food did not deliver, it was very low in flavour and the chips were of a poor quality. The desert I had was tasty but it didn't stand out. The smiling service and genuine interest in our welfare continued throughout the meal. They checked on us and checked to see if we had been happy with our meals. I didnt enjoy the atmosphere, I found it very basic. There isn't much in the way of a strong vibe with little decorations and basic tables. The decor fits a village fish restaurant but does not reflect the amount of money that is spent there. They could do more to upgrade it particularly in the lack lustre bathrooms. It also became very noisy at points and hard to hear my dinner partner.

From start to finish, every dish was a masterclass in quality and execution. I started with the tempura prawns, which were light, crisp, and perfectly cooked – no grease, just golden perfection. For the main, I had the Hake fillet, and it was sublime. Cooked to absolute perfection, delicately seasoned, and so fresh it practically melted in my mouth. They followed it with the bento box, which offered an elegant selection of items, each beautifully presented and tasting as good as it looked. We first contacted the restaurant by phone and were told a manager would contact us the following day by 8pm. This never happened so we called at 8.15pm and were told this was never logged with a manager but someone would call the following day, which they did and asked for proof via email. We sent this the same day, and had to chase this 3 days later as we had received no response. We finally had a reply and confirmation that the refund had been processed, a week after initially calling. This was a very disappointing end to our experience and not how we expected our issue to be managed (or not, in this case). However, below is my original review which shows that we were impressed with our visit on the actual day, but I’ve taken a star off due to our experience post-visit. We had a great meal to celebrate our Nan’s 90th birthday at Fish at 55, we were very well looked after from the moment we arrived and birthday girl was given a complimentary glass of bubbly and a candle in her pudding! Throughout our visit staff were attentive and friendly. All the food was fantastic. The prawn cocktail to start was lovely with a very generous serving of Marie Rose sauce. I then had the fish from the specials board which was again cooked and presented very well. To finish off I had the banoffee pie which is my favourite so ended the meal the very best way! The only thing I would say is that it was quite difficult for Nan to get to the toilet on the first floor as both sets of stairs are quite steep / spiral, so I’m not sure how accessible it would be for people with mobility difficulties. Other than this, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

We had salt and pepper squids, and mussels for starter. For the mains we had seafood grilled platter (I would recommend this but other things in the menu would definitely take my fancy now over this as it didn't have a humongous amount of flavour, it was letting the fish do the talking in the dish. We ordered from the sushi for lunch - but having taken order they returned to say that sushi would not now be available for an hour or so. So I took a trip down to master kebabs to see what the fuss was all about . First impressions were great very smart tidy shop, professional looking kitchen staff which was great to see them wearing chef whites I thought that just set the tone and I knew it would be good , then you look at the beautiful presented fresh salad bar and marinated meats which highlighted this also . So me and a friend went for the master platter , and boy this didn’t disappoint a platter for not just then eyes but the belly from doner meat to chicken wings this was jam packed and what I loved is each individual element has its own unique taste . So I paid just over £40 or so and you certainly got bang for your buck the selection of meats , the sides you get with it I think it was certainly value for money! I can’t remember every element of the platter but nothing disappointed , I do want to come back and try the lamb ribs though as I did miss out on them . Only thing that let it down was atmosphere would be great if this shop had a few more tables , they are constrained by space unfortunately . If you haven’t already been then if you I’ve in kent to pay them a visit ! The best kebab in the south east without a shadow of a doubt . I think next time I go I’ll try plain tenders and have a couple of the hot dips - the gravy and hot naga cheese were absolutely superb, but they didn’t go that well with buffalo.. 😃 The burgers here look good - they do a tray where you have tenders, burgers, chips etc, but I think that’s too much for me. We went on a Friday evening around 6:30pm and it was packed at the bar, the restaurant was quite busy but still seats available. I’d highly recommend booking in advance. You had the option to order via scanning the QR or the waiter does come over and ask if you’d like to order with them. The food came out really fast and it was so hot. The chicken wings were really crispy and juicy, I’d highly recommend getting them as a starter. For the main I had the mac and cheese with beef short rib. The mac and cheese was just your standard pub mac and cheese, would have been nice to have some crispy cheese on top and then the beef short rib on top of that. The beef was cooked perfectly, really tender and fell off the bone. I’d go back just for the beef short rib. All of the staff are really friendly and very welcoming, it’s lovely seeing them interact with everyone individually. The only issue we had which isn’t a big deal at the end of the day. We booked the table from 6:30pm -9pm, this was the option we chose online when booking. We wanted to have our dinner and enjoy some drinks after at the table as we aren’t keen on standing around a really busy bar shoulder to shoulder with people. The food came out so quickly we had finished eating around 7:15pm, we ordered another drink and was enjoying our time, but at 7:30pm the manager came over and put a reservation sign down saying “Don’t rush you’ve got time, they’re not coming until 8pm”. To my surprise they’d already booked the table during our own reservation time. We felt a bit pushed out and rushed as we wanted to chill out and enjoy the evening to ourselves at the table. We left just before 8 but felt a bit deflated after having a great experience with the food but being rushed off. I understand it was busy so they’re trying to fit in as many tables as possible, but we had booked the table for the set time and it was disappointing to pushed out like that, if they tend to be busy on weekends then they should have restricted booked times to only 2 hours.

Both Ember Inns & Harvester are part of the Mitchell & Butler group, Ember Inns is supposed to be a step up but sadly it did not feel that way. I was not rude and didn't take my complaint about my main any further than what I mentioned above however, upon my exit no one thanked me for dining there or even said goodbye.

All staff I have interacted with have always been friendly and helpful. The pub has a good sized car park, you just need to enter your cars REG into the pad inside. There are 3 charging points for electric vehicles and so e spaces for disabled folks. I would say the pub is suitable for all and a family meal will not break the bank. The bar was impressively packed for this time of day. However being the holiday season and also the world cup season, this was to be expected and will require another visit at a less traditionally busy time to ascertain the general normal trading day. My overall experience was excellent. I can't fault the pub itself, the staff, the food, the drink selection offered etc I asked several couples and a table full of patrons eating meals what they rated the food out of 10. It averaged out at a respectable 8/ 10 over the board. So bravo to the chef. They were all long term return customers and had nothing but good to say about this pub. That speaks volumes to me I'm sure you will agree. The manager Mel was a delight. I was pleased to have met and spoke to her, and her willingness to solve an issue I had without hesitation was commendable. She clearly cares about this pub and it shows. I asked several staff and customers about her and they said it's been so much better since she has been running it. One staff member who had been there for a few months, told me she rated the place 8.5 / 10 to work at. I recommend you visit this place and enjoy your time in a nice traditional yet modern feeling pub l. Outside was also very quiet initially but soon got busier. Beautiful views of the river and of the castle on the other side. Would love to return. Strawberry gin not very sweet (maybe as it’s more “natural/authentic”? and would’ve stayed longer if they had any nibbles or food. I was impressed with the food and service then, at a time when it was difficult to be in the industry. Back today, again with family, and I have to say I love this place, and will be returning soon. Our waitress Gabi was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We went early in the evening and didn't make a reservation. I think we were lucky to get a table because the restaurant filled up very quickly. All staff were friendly and attentive, checking on us throughout our meal. We had seafood picados with chips and steak picados with rice. When they arrived, both dishes were well presented and large portions. We went here on a whim on a walk in Upnor and it really is a hidden gem. The atmosphere was lively but cosy. We got free shots before AND after our meal! The House Special is a really good deal because not only do you get one of the massive skewers, you also get olives and starters, 3 sides and a dessert! We had the lamb and the tofu veg skewers and we were absolutely stuffed after everything at the end. It was all deliciously grilled as well. The flaming chorizo was wonderful and fun. The molotof whipped egg dessert was fluffy and delightful. We chatted to the waiter Antonio after and he was so friendly, mature and polite and told us all about the restaurant. We will definitely be coming here again and bringing our friends, it was amazing value for money and the food was absolutely stunning!

We had a look online and found a couple of places nearby, but the picture of the pancakes at Nutmegs won her over. We easily booked a table online and when we arrive it was easy to locate our table with our name on. We had twelve people, one vegetarian, and had an afternoon tea for the party. Trent and Meghan were easy to book with and a confirmation came through five days before the party. We had a few drop outs before the party (originally booked for 15), and this was easily accommodated. On the day, we were allowed access an hour early for decoration. When the birthday girl arrived, the team quickly sprung into action and we were served tea, coffee, the sandwiches and cakes as well as other soft drinks. As usual, the food was amazing, fresh, and homemade. We also asked for a Victoria sponge cake which was delicious. Our vegetarian friend received their own mini plates and a quiche instead of the incredible sausage rolls. They put on some soft music to complete the intimate atmosphere. It’s on the pricier side, but it’s honestly worth every penny! We went for our wedding anniversary and had put it on the booking form. It is so soft that even my grandma can chew. I don’t like the Yorkshire pudding elsewhere but mixed with the gravy here, it is very juicy. We don’t like roasted potatoes so we asked if we can change it for fries. I guess the chef insisted that Sunday roast should come with roasted potatoes so it is served this way (sorry if it’s a weird request), but they’re so nice that they gave us some fries as well. Finally the dessert is also really good but we’re too full already, so we took away all of them. Very well presented and clean distillery. Tour very informative and tasting 5 gins and a free drink at the bar. Overall a great experience and worth going to find out about the whisky and gins they make there. We popped down for a cheeky midweek curry because the place had been recommended to us. We had no idea that Tuesday night is banquet night at the Twydall Indian Restaurant. That gives you a starter, main, sides etc. all for a set price. I’ve been here quite a few times for the bottomless brunch. The staff are really friendly and attentive. We were never looking around wondering if we could order another drink. Thank you chefs the food was lovely too. Dee was serving us and was very good at making sure we had everything we needed and has a very personable manner. Also complements to the other server with the red curly hair. She served us last time and I remember how nice she was. The staff here are honestly great and there is a great choice of cocktails and drinks for bottomless brunch.

Visiting Whitstable Bay and Faversham for a well needed break and found this gem of a pub. Amazing atmosphere both inside and out and the food was delicious. We had the skate wing and trio of duck amongst a few great starters and it was all absolutely lovely. The interior has historic exposed beams, an open fire, heavy wooden tables and very tasteful decor. The cocktails are outstanding! Truly excellent mixology. The food is good - but not as good as expected. The burger was overdone, the sole was slightly undercooked, the oysters were small and had a milky deposit on one I’ve never seen in an oyster before. We were brought the three fish dishes with regular sides instead of the Sunday roast sides as was offered and requested. Our food was also served at different times due to the dietary requirements of one. I think this place is amazing though and want to come back to retry the food as the sprays were excellent. The rooms of the restaurant are divided up in a way that they feel intimate despite having plenty of spaces. The bathrooms are very ‘pub’ style - they don’t do the restaurant justice in terms of space, fittings, comfort, capacity or class. I’ll be back.

I pop in here occasionally to have a drink with friends or to eat a meal with my family. The food isn’t what it used to be, the Hunters Chicken used to be much nicer, presentation wise and taste wise. Maybe the chef was just having a bad day? We left as we couldn’t make our toddler sit there after already being there for over 2 hours. I must add this whole time there were no other tables eating!

After spending 5 months in India, I know how hard it is to get a good curry in the Uk especially with the right level and balance of spices. The Royal Garhwal looks like a very unassuming place from the outside, tucked away on Gillingham High Street but what a little gem it is! My partner and I agreed that this curry house just served up the most delicious Indian food we have ever eaten! Mango lassi was outstanding, I have never had one so good, I will dream about this one for a while to come. Poppadum's and the three dips were also an excellent way to start the meal, fresh mint, sweet mango and tasty tamarind dips. Then the spicy chicken lollipops, sticky, chewy, spicy and so moorish, delicious! The tandoori chicken wings held their own with a complex mix of spice and gentle heat, again yum yummy and generous portions of both. For the main my partner tried the Chicken Vindaloo, it was hot yet so well balanced and made you feel super warm and loved inside. I had the Goan King Prawn, you know the butterfly prawns that are extra large and juicy. The sauce was exquisite, again a beautiful balance of spice and warmth, not overly sweet or creamy. The pilau rice was as light and fluffy as a cloud and so flavourful. Our roti and naan bread was expertly made and all served piping hot. I drank still water after my lassi and my partner a lemonade and the bill came to £54 without a tip, now that's what I call value for money. Staff were friendly, attentive without being overly so and ensured our first visit was one to remember. We said we would go back with friends or at least grab a takeaway when we next need that curry hit! Highly recommended and thank you for making our evening such a success, support your local business, we are lucky to have such a good restaurant in Medway, something to celebrate!

Glad we did! This is the sort of pub that you sort of know exists but don't come across often. Plenty of naval and historical things to look at on the walls / ceilings, some live music playing and a good selection of drinks. Feels like a 'proper' pub. We visited late on a Sunday which is a shame as they have a free cheese and biscuit selection which we missed out on! There is not loads of space inside but the pub feels warm, nice people and fairly chilled.
